I had two gowns altered by Trafalgar Cleaners, and they both came out amazing! The floral gown required heavy alterations including hemming the bottom, taking in the back with a zipper, taking in the sides, and trimming the top. The ombré gown needed the crisscross straps shortened. The price was less than half of Alts (went there first and did not like the tailor), the tailor was knowledgeable and very kind, and the turnaround time was very fast (4 days). There is a cash discount so definitely stop by the bank before picking up your clothes. I received a recommendation for Trafalgar from a family member who has used them for decades. Alterations, custom fitting, repairing rips, etc and prices are very reasonable for the quality. I cannot say enough AMAZING things about this place. I recently moved to the neighborhood and was in search of a new tailor. I am petite, so I ALWAYS need my clothes fitted. I found Trafalgar on Yelp and couldn't be more happy with their work. In addition to some jeans and skirts for basic tailoring, I brought them a satin gown for my sister's wedding, for which I am the maid of honor. What I didn't realize was that the gown I purchased was poorly made, and some factory stitching left bubbles and bumps on my hips and butt area which I asked them to fix. To complicate matters, I am pregnant and it is not a maternity dress. The man and woman team at Trafalgar were EXPERTS. They were dealing with an incredibly challenging situation with my dress, and tackled it with professionalism and expertise. I wound up having probably 7 or 8 fittings with them so they could adjust little by little and I am so appreciative that they were patient with me and spent so much time on the dress. No other tailor would have done that. I am also convinced that no other tailor could have fixed the issues like they did. They are truly geniuses, creative, smart and talented. You might be able to take a dress somewhere else and save $15-$20 but I promise you, you'll be glad you came to Trafalgar. I am so grateful that I found them. I purchased a (very expensive) beautiful dress online from a designer store's e-commerce site and was heartbroken when the white silk dress arrived completely ridden with stains. It was as if someone took the dress and dragged it across a dirty floor. Dry cleaning is pricey everywhere. As long as you receive good quality work, you overlook the inflated cost. I took some new curtains to be steamed to Trafalgar and when I returned home they were still very wrinkled. I took them back and asked to have them fixed and a partial refund. They told me "don't expect them to be perfect" and "the creases are from the hangers".... Why would I pay someone to steam them if I didn't want them to look perfect? I could do a basic job. The wrinkles were everywhere and were visible while on the hanger so no, if wasn't from the hanger. Then they delivered them late after redoing them. There are a million cleaners out there. He dropped off our clothes off here on his way to the subway without doing any research... obviously not the best idea. Their prices were a bit high at 2.00 for a men's shirt. They put up a stink that my dress shirts were too small for their machines. When we picked up our clothes the next day we found out it was cash only. That would be totally fine if the place had great service and prices, but they don't. They also apparently don't use any starch. Everyone who works at this family run business has been so nice and definitely provide the best customer service. I can leave my Drycleaning bag with my doorman, text Trafalgar and they pick it up and deliver the next day! They make payments just as easy too by charging my credit card monthly and done! I have taken cloths here for simple alterations twice and both times were mistakes. The first time had the waist taken in on a pair of pants and made it so tight I couldn't butten them. They did fix it though when I brought it back. The second time I brought pants in for the inseem to be taken up 1 inch and they were off by nearly 3 inches! I brought them back a 2nd time and they were still off by an inch. When I brought them back a 3RD TIME they told me they couldn't take it down a full inch because the tailor had cut the fabric! It shouldn't take 3 tries to shorten pants by 1 inch and now they are 1/2 inch short and I am out of fabric. Measure twice and cut once, not measure twice and cut 3 times! read more
