    Lion king roll. Decent

Came here with my friends for a catch up. I was pleasantly surprised how their happy hour works. It covers weekend during regular lunch hours too! Their kid menu seems to be legit too. It is a small restaurant but clean. It is amongst a shopping plaza. There was someone outside my car right after I parked. He wanted to talk and kind of freak me out a little. Fortunately he walked away after and I ran into the restaurant. Food was okay and decent. The waitress had a hard time catching what my friend ordered. It was short ordered but we caught it and it was fixed. I want to bring my kids over. Looks like a place that we all can enjoy our food!

Dropped by during a weekday lunch around noon. Promptly seated and food came quickly. Have promotion happy hour items at discounted price. Prices are very reasonable and portions are fulfilling. Had the bento with 3 various options. Food was okay, standard bento box. Bonus points for vegetarian options at affordable prices. Highly recommend for the surrounding areas for decent pricing.

It had been a few years since I last ate here, and I was pleasantly surprised. All of the food was delicious, and the portion sizes were huge. There were also so many options to choose from.

Stumbled upon this location while hubby and I were in Redwood City Barnes and Noble. We were seated right away. Really good service here as we were always attended to. Lots of food. The lion king roll I ordered was really tasty! The hubby ordered a bento box and it was a lot of food. It's a small place but also comfortable enough for a bigger party. Worth a try!

After getting our nails done at the neighbouring Perfect 10 Nail Salon in the Sequoia Station (plenty of parking at this shopping center), walked over to Little MadFish for a quick dinner with Mom and Z on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Not sure if this was my first visit here. It's possible that I have eaten here before, but don't remember. We arrived shortly after 4:30 PM without reservations and were seated immediately. For the most part, the restaurant was clean, even the unisex bathroom was well-kept. Mom did have the staff wipe our table clean, though. The rear area, nearby the restroom, appeared to be used as a storage space for boxes of supplies which was a bit of an eye sore. I understand that there is a Little MadFish in Fremont as well. I believe that they are related. Chain restaurants aren't really my favourite eateries, but Little MadFish's food was decent and the prices were very reasonable. Below are the items that we ordered: CALAMARI TEMPURA - Ok. Z thought that it was good. Salmon Teriyaki Box ($25) - No complaints from Mom on her order. Beef Teriyaki Box ($25) - Gyoza sauce was not automatically given, I was told that we need to ask for it which is WEIRD. The teriyaki beef was drowning in the sauce and the meat wasn't the leanest. Crunch California Roll ($11) - Pieces were generous in size. Z enjoyed this. Spider Roll ($14) - A smaller serving than the Crunch California Roll, but still very filling. Z liked this roll as well Hot Green Tea was not free; they were $1 each, but with free refills. Small Hot Sake was only $4 per bottle, an awesome price, we ordered two. ...and some items to go for DJ & V; Avocado Cucumber Roll ($5.75), Asparagus Roll ($5.50), Shitake Mushroom Roll ($5), California Roll with no avocado ($8), and two orders of Gyoza (Pork, $8 each). The to-go gyoza sauce was a bit spicy, according to V. Altogether, the check total was $154.10 which I thought was not bad, especially considering that we had two bottles of sake. Service was friendly. Would I return? If already at the Sequoia Station and in need to grab a quick bite, sure. If not, I would choose to dine somewhere else.

Speechless . The sushi rolls are monsters. You will not believe your eyes. Sushi on steroids. Not really a Japanese zen sushi experience but if you want a huge monster sushi roll and are very hungry and like slightly sweet mayo sauces and heaping garnishes atop your sushi this is the place for you. And you won't go away hungry though may walk away slightly shocked . I could not even finish one sushi roll here. Though not a zen sushi experience , if you're looking for a Poki bowl / sushi roll / sushiritto experience all fused together the sushi here will hit the spot and in a very BIG WAY. To be honest we laughed through most of dinner ... at the sheer size of the rolls! Try it. You will know why the fish have gone mad!

I usually call in and pick up my order of food for me and my family and it's always as I expected it. It's fresh and delicious. The service is a little different than it used to be so I'm curious if they changed ownership. It seems something like that has gone on. But I definitely like the change. Friendly service!

Came in here for lunch. They have 20% off rolls for lunch time. Still a bit pricey. Teriyaki chicken was pretty salty. Miso soup and rice were cold. Overall, you can get better quality for cheaper at other places.

    Special Bento Box. Yummy!

Everything we ordered was absolutely scrumptious and worth the price. Our favorites were the Crunchy Lobster Roll, packed with lobster salad, salmon, avocado & cucumber, tobiko, and topped with crunchy flakes and house sauce (a fresh roll) and the Wagyu & Sea Roll, which combined shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, and seared Kobe beef (a cooked roll)! Super rich and satisfying!! The Scallop Butter Yaki was also delicious, with very tender and naturally sweet scallops and seared mushrooms in house-made butter sauce. We also ordered Oyster Shooter, a good combination of oyster, ikura, quail egg, ponzu sauce, and sake. Shot was not too strong but very well combined! The highlight of our meal was definitely Beef Tongue Skewer (a daily special). We're very impressed, as the skewer was incredibly tender, fresh, and melted in our mouths. We paired everything with a Sho Chiku Bai Nigori sake, which is soooo warm and comforting, complemented our meal nicely. Service was very quick, and the staff was very attentive throughout our visit. Overall, a wonderful dining experience! This is my 2nd time here and and I'll definitely be back for more.

The ambience was relaxed, so there's no need to dress fancy, especially if you're heading there straight after work. We decided to split a calamari steak hibachi for $32, which included rice and vegetables (you can add chicken for an extra dollar, but we didn't order the chicken). My partner also ordered three sushi rolls for us to share. The service was excellent! Our server was friendly and attentive, and the hibachi chef put on an amazing show, making the meal a truly entertaining experience. It was a first for both of us! However, there was one significant issue. During the hibachi, everyone at our shared table received a bowl of rice except for me. When some leftover rice was offered, a group of teenage boys quickly claimed it, even though they saw I hadn't received any. My boyfriend offered to share his, but it was frustrating to feel like I had to "fight" for food that should have been included. The food was good and the hibachi was enjoyable. The sushi was decent, though I've had better, this incident left a sour taste. Despite the great service and entertainment, the feeling of having to compete for my portion really detracted from the experience. I'm tempted to give a lower rating, but the good aspects balance it out. It was an okay experience, but I don't see myself returning, as I'd prefer not to contend for my meal.

We really recommend checking out their off menu items (they will hand you a hand-written note when you get there) because the chef is just clearly so talented. Here are the highlights: * Ankimo Nigiri (off menu): Have to be honest, I was actually pretty scared to try ankimo (Google said it's monkfish liver - like who even dare to eat liver ), but I'm so glad I did. It wasn't fishy or difficult to eat at all, but incredibly rich and creamy. I'm obsessed!!! * Otoro (off menu): This was the star. The tuna belly was pure umami, super fatty, buttery, and literally melted the second it hit my tongue - really recommend ordering this one * Lobster Roll (off menu): As a girl who's on calories deficit, my body screams for help when I found out it had shrimp tempura (I tried to avoid fried food), but this roll was so damnnnnn savory! It's made of lobster, shrimp tempura and a combo of eel sauce, spicy mayo, and tobiko - no need anymore dipping sauce cause they were just phenomenal * Kaisen: This was a refreshing roll - made of tuna, salmon, hamachi (yellowtail), and white tuna. Shiso (perilla) really enhanced the flavor of the fish and brought fresh taste that I think is the best pairing for any sushi/sashimi dish * Woodside Roll: This was the only miss for us. It uses minced spicy tuna, which honestly ruined the texture and flavor of the fish. We prefer tasting the real meat rather than a mash :( Overall, we like everything that we order, and our bill came out at around $100 for all that we had (budget friendlyyyyy) and we were really satisfied with the sushi quality. The pacing was just right, nothing felt rushed, and each course was thoughtfully decorated! I enjoyed every moment during the experience. Then for the courses, I had: - Starter: Kumiage Yuba with light house sauce and wasabi, I'm so impressed!!! At first I thought I was eating some fish liver because the texture was similar, but turn out it's tofu and they makes it excellent! A very nice starter - Appetizer: Squid tempura, pickled radish, mushroom & veggies, and tamago. I really like the tempura, crispy but not greasy, nice mix of textures - Sashimi plate: 3 pieces of bluefin tuna otoro, very fresh and buttery, just melts in my mouth! Love it - Oden bowl: I'm so in love with the broth, sweet, umami and comforting. It had braised pork belly, radish and konjac jelly, and all taste amazing, could not find any words to complain - Grilled fish: a very simple dish with not much seasoning. Fish was paired with some salty pickled plum and sweet potato. - Steamed tofu with abalone: I really like abalone texture, they made it very tender and easy to chew. Also not much seasoning so that you can feel the natural taste of the seafood, love that! - Hotate scallop with persimmon sauce: I don't like persimmon that much, but the scallops taste fresh and sweet - Rice bowl with pickles and miso soup: this is the 2nd final course, they have 2 options to upgrade from the white rice, uni ikura (+$16) & A5 wagyu (+$26) - we have 2 people so we order both to try a little bit of everything. Both worth the upgrade, but I prefer a5 wagyu - Matcha yokan with red beans and hot tea: the dessert was a bit too sweet for me, even though they served with hot tea to balance. But still, a great dish! Overall, really solid omakase spot on the Peninsula. I'd definitely come back if I had the chance!

The decor felt understated and calming, and both the host and server were very kind and welcoming. Service was definitely on the slower side -- we started the first course around 1pm and dessert wasn't served until about 2:40pm -- but I suppose that's part of the intentional, course-by-course dining experience. We ordered one of the lunch set menus. A few thoughts on the dishes: * House made tofu - Delicious. Light, delicate, and creamy, topped with wasabi and soy sauce. 9/10 * Appetizer assortment - A box with four small dishes (Nanohana steeped in dashi, simmered daikon radish, Tai marinated in vinaigrette, tamago). The tamago was less sweet than what you'd usually get at sushi restaurants (just okay for me, 6/10). The daikon was tasty (7.5/10), the fish had good flavor but a firmer texture than I prefer (7/10), and the vegetables were well-prepared (7.5/10). Everything was served room temperature. Overall, the flavors and sauces were very mild and subtle, in line with more traditional Japanese cooking. * The sashimi dish was fresh and delicious. 9/10 * Pork belly with vegetables - The pork belly was extremely tender and flavorful, and the vegetables were cooked nicely. The sauce was delicious. I almost wished it came with rice, but it was lightly seasoned and balanced as-is. 8/10 * Gindara marinated in miso - Lovely buttery, flaky texture. I've had similar miso black cod dishes elsewhere that were a bit more flavorful, but still very enjoyable. 8/10 * Chawanmushi - Very smooth, custardy texture with hints of citrus/yuzu, crab, and shiso. The crab texture was nice, though I didn't get a ton of crab flavor. * Octopus - A bit too chewy for my taste, though it paired nicely with the sweetness of the plum. I especially liked the nagaimo (yam) for both flavor and texture. 7.5/10 * Rice with kelp, wasabi cucumber, and simmered baby sardines - The kelp had a great texture and slightly tangy flavor. The wasabi cucumber was a bit too salty for me, even with the rice, but the baby sardines were delicious with just a hint of salt. 8/10 * Miso soup - Nice and light. 8/10 * Dessert (matcha yo-kan) - Green tea jelly with raspberries. Nice texture, though I personally prefer more pudding-like desserts. Not overly sweet, but I'm generally not a fan of beans in desserts. 7.5/10 One especially thoughtful touch: they served dessert to my mom on a special plate with additional Japanese candies and little origami pieces made by the staff. It felt very warm and personal. Overall, a good experience. They also offer à la carte options in addition to the set menus. The space feels intimate and would probably be best for smaller groups or quieter meals.

Good place. I tried:…read more 1. Edamame. This was good, as it usually is, since it's a pretty simple dish. 2. Bento box with sushi (5 nigiri of chef's choice) and avocado maki. The bento box comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. Everything was good. The sushi was fresh and tender, and they gave me cooked shrimp, salmon, and 3 that I couldn't identify. The salad was good, too, with a creamy dressing that maybe had some sesame paste in it. The amount of dressing was about right, maybe just a touch more than ideal for me, but they were pretty light-handed with it overall. The miso soup and avocado maki were good. The avocado maki had more avocado in proportion to rice than other places, so that was nice. 3. Mochi ice cream, strawberry. This was pretty good. About average, I guess. 4. Yuzu cheesecake. Nice citrus flavor. I know Japanese cheesecakes are airier/lighter than American cheesecakes, but I thought they are usually a bit more creamy than this one. This one was more like a regular cake. It was good, though. Overall a good, casual place I'd be glad to return to for Japanese food. Service was good, although there were only two servers while we were there, and so sometimes it could be a bit slow. There were two TV screen showing sports. There is a small parking lot, or you can park on a nearby street.
