The food is excellent, featuring authentic seafood flavors. The service is good, though it could be improved with a bit more organization. The atmosphere is authentically Mexican--just like being at home. I highly recommend it!

Sushinaloa in Redwood City really blew us away. I've never known Mexican style sushi was a thing, so when we learned that this Sinaloa-style sushi spot was right in our neighborhood, we definitely had to try! And we did not disappoint. Everything was phenomenal: the vibe, the flavors, and especially the portions. We were shocked by how much food came out. Their rolls are MASSIVE, double the size of rolls from other sushi places. Normally for 2 people, we'd order around 3 rolls and maybe 1-2 appetizers, but here, we ordered about the same amount, the same price and somehow ended up with enough food for like 4 people . Genuinely shocked until today (but in a good way) As for the flavors, it's pretty much exactly how you'd imagine Mexican-style sushi, smoky, bold flavors, spicy, super cheesy and super filling. And here's what we had: - Brucheta Sushi ($22.95): a must-try, signature. Everybody around us ordered this. It had steak, shrimp, cream cheese, avocado, and cucumber. A fried roll, big bites and super comforting. - Cachichurris ($19.45): the 2nd fried rolls we ordered with shrimp, octopus, cream cheese, cucumber, and avocado. Okay now it's becoming too much. I mean it's delicious, nothing's wrong, but we should just order 1 fried roll only - Salmon Roll ($22.45): the real life saver!!! Since the other rolls were fried and heavy, this fresh salmon roll really balanced thing out. - Tuna La Perrona ($22.50): basically a tuna sashimi-style dish, served with fried tortillas and pickled mango & cucumbers. The sauce was ridiculously good, I would have it again next time! - Oyster shots ($18.5): Bold!!!!! - La Gueva ($17.50): Refreshing cocktail, I love it!!!! Definitely will come back!!!! But next time I'll come hungry we ended up bringing a lot of leftovers home.

Going in, we were sat right away and were able to order water and an appetizer. Afterwards, we ordered food, but once the food arrived, our server was nowhere to be found. We had finished eating and stayed another 30 minutes and there was no sight of her.... Then we found out there was male server out of nowhere. He helped us at the end with our check, but we had no clue they had switched. Food wise, it was ok, music was great, and they had halloween decor they were taking down and getting ready with the Christmas decor.

There's a place in Downey like this that I'd wanted to go to but now I don't have to travel. The concept is right here! The best of two worlds collide: sushi and Mexican sabor. From the outside I thought this would be a small restaurant but it's quite large. There are several large booths and a few tables to accommodate large groups. The atmosphere is loud with music playing throughout. Three menus: drinks, food, and desserts. The drink menu is extensive with all the regular favorites: margaritas, micheladas, beers, and many specialties. The main menu offers up appetizers, sushi rolls, an array of ceviches and aguachiles, and a few traditional options. Portions are enormous. Everything is shareable. Each menu item comes with julienned carrots and a chile that is sweet with a hint of heat. I ordered the Ceviche Mixto, just a hint of heat balanced with flavorful shrimp and octopus. It's served with a bag of Finca tostadas. The Spicy Tuna resembled a Japanese sushi roll with cream cheese, avocado, and jalapeño. The fish tasted fresh and by how busy the restaurant was, I trusted they go through a lot of fish and it couldn't possibly have sat around for very long. The Brucheta is a steak roll (similar to Bento box steak slices) with shrimp, cream cheese, and avocado. I wish I had room for more. I wanted to try the Quesabirria. There is a small parking lot in the rear accessible from the main road and side street. The staff was so welcoming and excited to share their food. I can't wait to go back for chilaquiles and more sushi rolls.

So, we finally went to Sushinola, I checked out some reviews, and they seemed okay, they mostly complained about the service, the time it took to get their food, so we decided to give it a shot after the lunch rush i read the reviews, why was i surprised of our experience? We went around 1:30, hoping to miss the lunch rush. When we got there, maybe five other tables were there, and one hadn't gotten their food yet, and then there was us. Getting our food took forever, considering we were the only ones waiting besides that other table. We probably waited like 20 to 25 minutes. They had three waitresses. Two seemed friendly, but one looked like she didn't want to be there, and of course, she was the one who waited on us. not sure why it was hard to get an extra plate and fork, I had to get up and ask another waitress, who was happy to help. The food was mediocre at best. The coctel had a ok amount of shrimp, but the soup was flavorless. It tasted like water and lemon or lime. There wasn't any tomato base, salt or any other flavor, so it was pretty gross. And they didn't even use avocado, which I'm used to. My wife's molcajete was pretty bad too. The cheese they put on it was burnt and mostly stuck to the bowl. We couldn't eat the chicken because it was overcooked, and we thought it might have been reheated and dried out. We didn't eat it because it was inedible. The pork and beef were okay, also overcooked, but we ate them. The rice was terrible and didnt touch it either. Overall, we were disappointed because it looks like a fun place from the outside. We won't be going back. The experience, the service, and the food were just awful, and I wouldn't recommend it. Hopefully, the restaurant pays attention to these reviews and provides better experiences . I wish them luck.

    Sushi, quesabirria, Michelada

If you haven't tried Mexican sushi with a fire michelada, you're seriously missing out This spot does it right every time. The sushi has that perfect Mexican twist--loaded with flavor, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of spice. Every roll I've tried has been on point, but paired with their micheladas? That's a whole different level. Ice cold, perfectly seasoned, and super refreshing.

Stopped by for dinner on Sunday, while we waited for our table, some of us went to grab a drink at the bar & were seated shortly after. After being seated, we had to flag down a waiter to come & take our order. The waiter said she thought we were already being helped since we had drinks but we explained we had bought those at the bar. We ordered some guacamole, salsa, chips & flautas to start off with. The guacamole had no salt, we had to season it ourselves along with the salsa that came with it. For our main dishes, we ordered the quesabirria which was just alright 3/5, the pozole which was a 5/5, a seafood tostada 5/5, sushi 3/5 & molcajete 3/5 the shrimps were overcooked along with the piece of steak, it was too well done, it was dry & hard to chew. The vibes at this place were lively, they had a great music selection & it was a great hang out spot to end our funday Sunday. I can't say that I'll be back but it was worth checking out. The items on the menu are a hit or miss. Please note that parking can be difficult & although they offer parking behind the restaurant, it was packed.

I think there were communication issues. there was some mix up with the tables and throughout the night after that our orders kept getting mixed up with not just one but two other tables. So we would see our food from afar being held in front of a group of servers where they would have a conversation over our plates of food for a few minutes then go to other tables, and try to give it to other tables before it finally got to us. The staff explained there was a mixup and due to that all the orders continued getting mixed up during our meal, but there was no acknowledgment otherwise or an attempt to make things right. I think because the group tip is already mandatory, there was no incentive on their end, perhaps. The bus staff are pretty available and responsive but limited in what they were allowed to assist with and the server was hard to flag down. Anyway onto the food. The clams linguine was flavorful. The crab Alfredo pasta had a lot of crab which was a pleasant surprise but a little lacking in flavor and a little on the sweet side with cream and crab notes. Cioppino was better than expected. Oysters were good and an okay price. Key lime pie was decent. I think 3.5-4 stars for the food (probably 4 at the happy hour rates!), 2 for service. Ambiance is a bit weird. Like somewhat upscale with some decor and high ceilings but not in others. Worthwhile to return for happy hour and may update review then!

Many of the employees primarily speak Spanish, but even though I speak Spanish muy poquito, we had no problems getting seated and ordering while speaking English. The menu is primarily accessed by QR code, but they will give a physical copy of the menu if you ask. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available, and we were seated quickly. Chips are not complimentary, so we ordered Chips and Guacamole ($11) to start, and my goodness, it's been a while since I've had really amazing guacamole. It's fresh, it's chunky, it's a nice balance of other toppings - I was in love with it. We ended up ordering more chips (this time Chips & Salsa ($4)), because we had plenty of guacamole left over. The salsa was a nice roasted salsa, rich in flavor but not too spicy. The chips tasted homemade as well, as they weren't overly salted but had a nice crunch to them. They had plenty of homemade Aqua Frescas available, so I got the Strawberry Horchata one. I didn't realize they default to large ($7) from the start, as they also have small & medium. A little surprised by that, but the horchata was so good that I ended up being happy they gave me a large. We shared the Molcajete D. Carne ($40), which came with sides of rice, beans, and tortillas. The molcajete was huge - definitely plenty to share with at least 2 people! The meats were plenty flavorful and not overcooked, so they weren't chewy.
