The one difference between this place and Japanese sushi restaurants is the flavor of rice - this one used straight white rice for their rolls when other sushi spots have that rice vinegar taste. This made the sushi a little more bland, but all of their rolls are super creative. As for their actual Mexican food, the meat is some of the tastiest we've ever had. The coworkers and I drove here during our lunch hour on a Thursday to catch the US play in a World Cup game. There were plenty of large tv screens for everyone in the restaurant to enjoy. I was quite delighted to find they had a pretty large parking lot in the back. This part of Middlefield can be quite difficult to find parking. We got sat immediately and ordered fish chicharone, fish ceviche, and shrimp aguachile. You get a whole bag of tostada tortilla shells with your order. Do not sleep on the fish chicharone. The inside was clean and had sooo many lovely and fresh houseplants! We were able to get in and out in less than an hour! It was a great a first experience and the US soccer team advanced! We had finished eating and stayed another 30 minutes and there was no sight of her.... Then we found out there was male server out of nowhere. There's a place in Downey like this that I'd wanted to go to but now I don't have to travel. The concept is right here! The best of two worlds collide: sushi and Mexican sabor. From the outside I thought this would be a small restaurant but it's quite large. There are several large booths and a few tables to accommodate large groups. The atmosphere is loud with music playing throughout. Three menus: drinks, food, and desserts. The drink menu is extensive with all the regular favorites: margaritas, micheladas, beers, and many specialties. The main menu offers up appetizers, sushi rolls, an array of ceviches and aguachiles, and a few traditional options. Portions are enormous. Everything is shareable. Each menu item comes with julienned carrots and a chile that is sweet with a hint of heat. I ordered the Ceviche Mixto, just a hint of heat balanced with flavorful shrimp and octopus. It's served with a bag of Finca tostadas. The Spicy Tuna resembled a Japanese sushi roll with cream cheese, avocado, and jalapeño. The fish tasted fresh and by how busy the restaurant was, I trusted they go through a lot of fish and it couldn't possibly have sat around for very long. The Brucheta is a steak roll (similar to Bento box steak slices) with shrimp, cream cheese, and avocado. I wish I had room for more. I wanted to try the Quesabirria. There is a small parking lot in the rear accessible from the main road and side street. The staff was so welcoming and excited to share their food. So, we finally went to Sushinola, I checked out some reviews, and they seemed okay, they mostly complained about the service, the time it took to get their food, so we decided to give it a shot after the lunch rush i read the reviews, why was i surprised of our experience? We went around 1:30, hoping to miss the lunch rush. When we got there, maybe five other tables were there, and one hadn't gotten their food yet, and then there was us. Getting our food took forever, considering we were the only ones waiting besides that other table. We probably waited like 20 to 25 minutes. They had three waitresses. Two seemed friendly, but one looked like she didn't want to be there, and of course, she was the one who waited on us. not sure why it was hard to get an extra plate and fork, I had to get up and ask another waitress, who was happy to help. The food was mediocre at best. The coctel had a ok amount of shrimp, but the soup was flavorless. It tasted like water and lemon or lime. There wasn't any tomato base, salt or any other flavor, so it was pretty gross. And they didn't even use avocado, which I'm used to. My wife's molcajete was pretty bad too. The cheese they put on it was burnt and mostly stuck to the bowl. We couldn't eat the chicken because it was overcooked, and we thought it might have been reheated and dried out. We didn't eat it because it was inedible. The pork and beef were okay, also overcooked, but we ate them. The rice was terrible and didnt touch it either. Overall, we were disappointed because it looks like a fun place from the outside. We won't be going back. The experience, the service, and the food were just awful, and I wouldn't recommend it. Hopefully, the restaurant pays attention to these reviews and provides better experiences . I wish them luck. read more

It is the same owner as another one of my fav Sushi Sinaloa style restaurants so I was kind of bummed when the food wasn't as tasty as the other restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food here is GOOD but it is AMAZING at the other restaurant. Service is so-so. I had to chase down the server a couple times. I ordered the Divorciado Roll and the Flautas. The Divorciado Roll is split two ways, half of the roll has a guacamole cream over the top and the other half has a chipotle type cream over the top. The roll is filled with asada and shrimp, cucumber slices and cream cheese. The entire roll is lightly fried and massive! It's really good. The Flautas are filled end to end with glorious chicken breast, one of the best flautas I've had. Comes with tomatillo salsa and chipotle cream type sauce for dipping. My boyfriend found this spot, as this is right up our alley and we have been here a couple times. It's Sinaloan food and sushi, all together in one spot. I'm a big fan of mariscos, sushi, seafood, micheladas and cocktails (both drinks and apps). Rarely can you find Smoked Marlin Tacos, but Sushinaloa has them. They also have Tacos Gobanador, which are not always offered up here in the Bay. The crab tostada ($10) was so big that it needed another plate to hold extra tostadas. The prices are good for the value, the serving sizes are good and the flavors are on point. We have been here a couple times with our daughter and the owner has treated us with good service each time. We always order a lot, but I always save room for a michelada or paloma. We were not greeted, we asked to sit at the bar because no waiter approached us to take us to a table, we thought they were just opening maybe. Just tried the sushi for the first time and I loved it, was putting their XXXtra hot habenero house salsa on the roll and it was spicy, crunchy, flavorful and delicious. Also got the flan it came in the shape of a pie instead of a circle which I loved. Was able to split one roll and one flan between two people and it was a good amount of food for a decent price. Highly recommend this place for a super fun atmosphere with murals and really great and accommodating staff. My first taste of Mexican sushi won't be my last! A lively restaurant with live music, fancy drinks, mariscos, and Mexican sushi. We enjoyed chips and guacamole for appetizer. The roll I tried was stuffed with crab and topped with krab, plus a mix of fresh veggies and sauces. Not only that, the roll was fried! Usually I'm a nigiri type of person, but I enjoyed the new-to-me mix of flavors and textures. My husband ordered a salmon bowl which looked fresh and delicious. I ordered a cucumber lime agua fresca to drink and it was so refreshing and tasty. Parking in the back, indoor and outdoor seating, and seafood prices, but nothing outrageous.
