While in Austin, we had to try them out due to good reviews. Located in a small strip mall, but hard to find because the only sign they have is on their door. Lots of parking. When you come in there are only 2 tables for two and one table for 4 but a few chairs on the side to sit. They prefer for you to pay cash but if paying with credit card there is i believe a 2% fee. Husband ordered Adobo and I ordered BBQ pork on a stick. Both was good but while eating my BBQ half of the stick was uncooked. Informed the cashier and they recooked it for me and gave me two pieces of lechon kawali. Filipinos should support this place and while in Little Rock or Austin, a must try! Great people! read more

Everyone knows (maybe) chicken adobo and traditional pancit. If not, that's for another day, but Palabok is a noodle dish with shrimp sauce topped with pork, crushed chicharon, tinapa flakes, scallions, and fried garlic. I wanted something that I thought his momma would make him and I think I found it. At Little Mama's, they make it with pollee noodles which are the size and slippery texture of udon with a bite. The chicharron was my favorite thing. It added a crunch on top of the savory gravy sauce. Because the pollee noodles were thick but cut short, it grasp the sauce in every bite⁣ Little Mama's herself is an establishment I enjoy going to because the definition of family run business. Like literally, the family's children are there and the family friend is running the front. Daughter and chef takes your order. Growing up eating Filipino food has really spoiled me, so finding a good Filipino restaurant in central Texas was going to be a challenge when I moved here. Let me just say, Little Mamas does not disappoint. Their lumpia is on point and their pancit is amazing. Reminds me of my childhood. I also love their spam fried rice. The rice is cooked perfectly and isn't any of that Instant rice junk that other restaurants serve. The food is so good that my parents will drive an hour and a half just to go eat here, and then come visit me. The added bonus is the staff is super nice, and even when they are overwhelmed with orders, they still save some energy for a smile and a thank you. Masarap, nagimas, delicioso, and just really good Filipino food! I'm glad they're close by because when I'm not able to cook my own food, I'll order from them. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu or the desserts. Pro-tip is to call ahead and see what specials of the day they have. Great customer service and just a heads up it's mostly takeout. My go-to items are palabok, bicol express, and house marinated milkfish. If you want to stay in a comfort zone order the lumpia and Filipino bbq. If you want to live a little try something else you won't be disappointed. They do have veggie options which is great! Really good authentic food! For full transparency, on my first visit and first time ever trying Filipino food, I did find a beautiful long hair in my food when I got home and was a few bites in. (Gross, but I've worked in restaurants so I understand. Things happen.) I immediately called and let them know my situation and they offered to remake it for me. I went back the next day and my dish was even better than the first! Great customer service. I had the Panchit, lumpia, and bbq chicken skewers. So for the skewers... AMAZING. So delicious, juicy, and flavorful. I loveee the charred bits. And they fill the entire skewer. Panchit was pretty good. I did find myself wanting for a sauce. So I would suggest serving/eating it with lime**, sriracha, and a fried egg. it enhances the flavors for sure. I wish I was more impressed with the lumpia as it is the main reason I found the restaurant in the first place. I think the wrapping was too thick as the very inner layer was not fried. It also was not as crispy as it could have been. No crunch when I bit in. Maybe it just wasn't a good day. I'd be willing to try it again. Last note: there isn't really a sign out front and the only reason I was able to find it was because some people were eating out front as they are not doing dine-in. Most authentic tasting lumpia and sauce I've had since living in the Bay Area. An additional positive note - they're about double the size of traditional lumpia. First time trying, After craving lumpia and searching "best lumpia" I came across this place as the second listed and nearest to my home. I ordered over the Phone so I wouldn't have to wait upon arrival. The staff is so polite and helpful. I ordered only lumpia and chili sauce and I was pretty disappointed. I did not like the filling at all, the meat has an off taste and is not seasoned well, there are few if any vegetables a few carrots from what I could see. Oh my goodness this place was delicious and great service! Everyone that came in kept talking about the people who recommended them to go there! The lady who took my order was friendly and sharing all of her childhood favorites. The menu had lots of variety with lots of Filipino dishes I had never heard of. I used to work with a Filipino woman. Every time we would have a "to do" at work she would always bring pancit and lumpia, and sometimes adobo or fried rice. It was the first time I'd ever had Filipino food, and I fell in LOVE with the pancit! Like I dream about it in love with pancit! When she moved on to bigger and better things (like retirement...) I was doubly sad. She was a good co-worker AND she would bring pancit to our little parties (and sometimes "just because"). I'm not a great cook so I was reluctant to try and make it myself; when I finally did it was a dismal failure. So, I went without pancit for many a year. But then I found Little Mama's. The pancit is incredible! I haven't tried anything else because I'm still making up for all the lost pancit over the years. The portions are HUGE. Enough for two very large or three normal sized meals. Dining in is tough as the place is very small so I always get mine to go. You do have to wait for your food, but it's made-to-order so it's not a problem (delicious things come to those who wait!) My only complaint? They have been in business since 2015 and I've just now found them!!! Thinking of all the pancit I have missed is just tragic! Overall, I definitely have some favorites that you need to try. First the lumpia, so crisp and delicious!! Perfect appetizer to share. Next the bbq pork skewers were perfectly cooked, I loved the sauce and the pork was super tender and juicy. Finally the halo halo was such a delicious dessert with the egg custard, sweet potato and ube ice cream. I would highly recommend you try these three. There were also some entrees that were just alright. The lechon kawali was just a bit too oily and fatty for my taste, and the skin was a bit too crunchy. After two pieces I felt pretty heavy. The palabok was an interesting noodle dish, the lemon citrus taste threw me off at first but I enjoyed it the more I ate it. Finally the tortang talong was just a bit too charred on the outside. I had to take off the eggplant skin because it was too black but the rest was very good! I wonder if it is normally like this or if we just got it too late at night. They were just about to close so maybe it wasn't the best batch. I definitely recommend some dishes and some others I would pass on. Ma sarap! Good Filipino food is hard to find in Austin and I always leave places feeling like I spent too much for what I got or maybe got something too Americanized. However, Little Mama's broke that trend. Their two-person team is hospitable and takes time to make great and enjoyable food. Their menu is more broad then most Filipino restaurants I've been to in town. We got lumpia, kare kare (with oxtail!), pork rib sinigang, shrimp laing, tortang talong, and beef caldareta were all well made. My favorites were the sinigang (great level of tart) and shrimp laing. Although slightly different from my grandma's and dad's dishes (which tends to be the barometer for Pinoys), the food remained true to authentic Filipino taste. The halo halo was fragrant and hit the spot though I do prefer halo halo with more macupuno strings and coconut gel. I have gone here enough times to say this: their food is extremely SALTY. Their selections are classic Filipino food but who ever is in that kitchen, has a heavy hand when pouring salt. ALL food in the menu are EXTREMELY salty. It is all up to you to try it, and the saltiness might just be right for you, but from my experience, it's hard to eat even with a load of rice. I am aware that there are very few selection of restaurants in the area for Filipino cuisine, but this place is not worth an order (with the exception of the Ube cheesecake, it has no salt). The inside is a true definition of a hole in the wall moms and pops store. I have no problem with that. Been going here for a year when I need that Filipino fix, and I can tell you they make no effort to make improvements in the looks of the inside. What makes you think they will make improvements of the food. It will still be SALTY. Oh yes, false info as well. It says on Yelp that masks are required and workers wear masks. That's not true. This LIttle Mama's place was unknown to me until today, 2018. It's a hidden little Filipino joint in an obscure little strip mall in little ole Round Rock, TX. Okay, no more using "little". It's on North Mays Street just across from Kerby Lane Cafe. Good place. My friend took us here after mentioning he's never had a bad experience. He's only been twice, but still a good sign. We ordered Pancit Canton, Beef Steak, and Sizzling Sisig. Not bad, I must say. The Sisig had liver, which I wasn't accustomed to so that wasn't my favorite. Hmmm, I wonder if they can make this without the liver. Anyway, it came out on a sizzling platter. I really liked their Beef Steak. Their Pancit (Filipino Chow Mein) was decent, but it was a bit watery. Not bad though. I'll be sure to return and try out their other dishes the next time I'm in the neighborhood. As far as ambiance, it's a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy. They have just a small dining area no bigger than an average home living room. I believe the lechon pork retailed for 12 dollars- its a small kitchen so expect to wait some time for food. I've been here once or twice before so I am a repeat customer (Spam Fried Rice is awesome BTW). Currently (as of 8/8/20) they're only offering to-go. I couldn't find an option to order online so I had to call-in. The line was busy the first few times but I finally got through. I figured out why it was busy though... it's because when you arrive there is no entry to tge restaurant. At the door you're instructed to call in, you can make your payment over the phone then and/or pay in cash or have them physically swipe your card and when your order is ready they'll wave you down and place your order and receipt on the table for you to grab. During our current times... I appreciated the totally contactless service and hand sanitizer on the table. Well we ordered Pork Adobo and upgraded to Garlic Rice for 99 cents. We also got a 6 pack of Lumpia, a BBQ Chicken Stick and a side of Atchara. The portion sizes are quite decent as we shared the meal and were satisfied. The Pork Adobo was very well seasoned and delicious. My only wish was that there was a little more sauce (would've loved it on my rice). A few pork pieces were a little rubbery as if it had been made earlier and sat for a bit but don't get me wrong... it was good. The Garlic Rice was good but it was just a little mushy for me. My daughter loved it though. The BBQ Chicken stick was tender and had a great charbroiled flavor to it. The Lumpias were so crispy and full of filling... they hit the spot. There's a saying in the Filipino community - if you want great Filipino food, you eat in a Filipino home or you have a Filipino bring you the food. I grew up in the Philippines and have found this to be true for the most part, with the exemption of a handful of Filipino restaurants. We basically waited almost half an hour for our food: 2 simple and normal dishes from the menu: chicken adobo and beef caldareta. It is a Friday noon, past rush hour, and we ordered regular dishes. I could not understand why it took them such long to bring the food. Speaking of food: this is our first time to try Filipino food, so we had 0 expectations. Chicken Adobo is basically soy sauce stir fried chicken. The portion is good but there is no other flavor besides salty. Beef Caldareta is basically tomato beef stew. The beef is in big chunks but not tender at all. In addition, I do not taste tomato flavor, but salty only. I'm not going back again. My yelp rating standard: 5 stars: the food is absolutely amazing! I definitely would like to come back to try something else in the menu or reorder what I had. 4 stars: the food is great and I enjoyed the most of the items I ordered. I believe Little Mama's is run by two Filipino-American sisters. The restaurant is clean and runs so well, with a special eye for including the things that people who aren't Filipino want to try on the menu. With a flakey crispy exterior, the Shanghai Lumpia just melts into your mouth. At first, it was a little off putting to me, since I'm used to freezer section egg rolls. I also got to experience my first Halo Halo here, and it was truly an adventure. My favorite upper level toppings were the sweet potato mash and the custard. If I could just get those two things on a plate, I'd be happy. The second layer is a layer of ice with condensed milk, and the bottom layer includes an assortment of beans and jellies. It's a process to get through the entire menu, but there are so many authentic and unique dishes and desserts to try.
