One of my dearest friends was with me at Little Masa and there were 5 of us. 4 of us got our food and over an hour passed by before my friend got her food. She ordered a simple meal. When we asked the workers MULTIPLE times to check on her food, they would say they'd check and we'd literally watch them go to the counter and grab other peoples food or take other orders... clearly not checking on our order. We sat in the restaurant for well over 2 hours and it should have been and hour max. The people clearly don't care and my guess is they forgot her meal. They clearly don't focus very much on customer service. Next time, be courteous of our time. Very, VERY annoyed. Really enjoyed this place while visiting Tallahassee. Got take out twice! First time was noodles. My daughter got chicken, broccoli, zucchini, and asparagus with udon noodles and teriyaki. I got chicken, broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms with udon noodles and the sweet peanut sauce. Both were super tasty!!!! And the second time we got edamame to split which was really good and I had a shrimp tempura sushi roll, also excellent. Portions were great and it was easy to order online. I gave a 5 star review the first time I came here on Yelp but after two more visits, I retract. I've come to Masa 4 times. 2/4 were good. The other two were so bad that I felt the need to write a review. First bad experience, food just tasted weird. I raved to a coworker and asked her to join me. She ended up buying food and not even eating because it tasted weird. We both got sick that night. Today, I ordered two sushi rolls per usual and there was a microscopic amount of either meat/rice depending on the roll. My California roll didn't even have cucumber in it and I had to analyze for a minute straight before I found the crab. I honestly should've requested my money back but I was in a hurry. The rolls were small, with nothing inside. It was comparable to Chinese buffet sushi. I will not being getting my sushi from here again or recommend. Very disappointed. read more

I have only ordered this place through take out with Bite squad and I am so mad I never tried them sooner! I took it upon myself to order the stir fry where you get to select your protein, sauce and veggies. I got the chicken teriyaki with carrots, broccoli, bean sprouts and water chestnuts. It was amazing! It was seasoned to perfection and I didn't need to add any extra sauce or anything to it. The chicken as thinly sliced and I loved this because I felt that the flavor got into the meat better and it made for a smoother tasting stir fry. The prices and portions are more than fair. Some of the servers seemed overworked, and not very friendly. But then there were others that were extremely friendly so both ends of the spectrum. The broth was okay but the meatballs look so processed I didn't even want to take a chance on them. The actual beef in the pho was good though. The basil that came with the pho was wilted and completely browned almost, I wish they had put in cilantro or something similar. Everyone got there food and all of it was just average. The calamari how ever was exceptional and the only thing I tired that I would go back for. My friends invited me to lunch at this place and it was very good. I am not one to frequent "college town" but I really enjoyed this place. If you have ever been to Mass in midtown it's just a smaller version of it. The menu is condensed since it is a smaller establishment and a smaller kitchen. I liked that they had the bogo half off sushi on Saturdays. They also serve beer and saki so you aren't missed out on alcohol because you are going to the smaller restaurant. I got the sweet potato roll and the vegetable tempura roll. It was just as good as if I had had it at the other location. I also ordered edamame and it was great too. The decorations in this restaurant are great. Overall, I had a great experience and will be back if I venture into college town. The only thing I would suggest is the staff forgot to bring us shot glasses for the saki but it really wasn't a big deal. Great service otherwise! read more

So while I must say, this place is nothing like the original Masa restaurant at the other location it was still very good. I had a "Wok your way" and ordered friend rice as my base, teriyaki sauce and shrimp as my protein. Super yummy and a great price. My boyfriend for the Tuesday special for sushi which was 2 rolls for $12. The sushi did take way longer than my meal..I waited about 15 minutes for him to get his food after mine. But overall it was delicious. We got the calamari and salads to start but don't think these are ginger salads...it's more of a sesame Asian dressing than a ginger. So if you're looking for more of a classic ginger salad I'd recommend asking for the dressing on the side or opting out for ginger as an option since it's not automatically made that way! read more

I ordered the shrimp pad Thai, add fried garlic chips. This is admittedly my third time in two months having the pad Thai, and it is pretty spot on for what I'm usually looking for. I want to start with the noodles, because I have had a few different versions of this dish from around town: from places that shalt not be shamed. Said institutions use ginormous wide, flat noodles that hold together tighter than my mom at a yard sale; in some deformed and shameful Frankenblob that you have to saw through with a knife. The pasta was like....egg noodles' straight twin. Some sauces were ketchup based and took on more of a goulash flavor. Just not what I'm lookin' for on a Friday night, or any night of my life, really. On to Little Masa's noodles. These are the thinner noodles that you typically associate with pad Thai, and are soft and malleable, but still hold their texture. The sauce could best be described as...a dry sauce? Took me a second to figure out how to describe this one, and my conclusion is this: it's analogous to barbecue sauce versus dry rub. It isn't a sticky, sweet peanut sauce, but rather a paprika, chili, lime, sugar coating. Which mixes from the steam of the noodles and makes a delicious, warm spice paste. Combined with the lime juice provided by the garnish you get this beautiful sweet and tangy flavor with a nice, easy heat that doesn't step on the dish like a dominatrix during a recession. Along with the noodles, there is scrambled egg, chopped peanut, scallion, and a protein of choice. I also added fried garlic chips to mine. To say I love garlic is a gross understatement. Garlic is my number one, all-time favorite ingredient, flavor, smell, etc. and these chips pack a great hit of garlic without being bitter. The main star: the shrimps (I always like to say that in Agadore Spartacus' voice). And this is where Little Masa is hit or miss, and why I deducted a star. Consistency and quality. The first time I had this, the shrimp were puny, but tasted pretty good and overall had a decent texture. The second time? They absolutely blew me away! Large, plump, and seared perfectly with those crisp little ribbon edges with tender meat; seasoned well, like they had been grilled by a pro. This time it was very obvious that the shrimp were the precooked frozen shrimp that had been sentenced to death three times. They were boiled and soft....and all at the bottom of the bowl...looked like the Marianas Trench. Oh, and most importantly, my pad Thai sauces were missing, which really stunk. You get an option of up to three sauces with your main, and they are stellar! I highly recommend the ginger orange sesame. So my overall disappointment lies in the consistency and quality of the ingredients and the inability to supply the entire order as ordered. I'm sure there are reasons for the variation such as supply shortage, late orders, overstock, and worst of all, inflation, and I work in the food industry so I am very empathetic the nature of the beast. I would recommend Little Masa. I would advise dining in (delivery really changes the integrity of the food). read more

This is a hidden gem in College Town! The shrimp tempura roll was made fresh, the shrimp was still warm inside with a beautiful crispy coating that melted in my mouth. Definitely recommend enjoying it with a huge serving of yum yum sauce for dipping. It appears that all the sushi selections are made to order because the wait was about 8-10 mins for the roll. Food is decent but can be on the expensive side. BE WARNED!! Their "spice" scale is widely inconsistent. Their scale ranges 1-4 and I've had instances where a level "2" spice is so hot to the point where I didn't want to eat it.... And I LOVE hot/spicy food and I consider myself to have a tolerance on the higher end. Recently I went in and got a level 1 spice level so my girlfriend and I could share and it was crazy hot for being "level 1". I still ate it but she couldn't have more than a few bites. When I took out the food and tried to eat pad thai, I was really DISAPPOINTED. Because there was a piece of USED LIME!!!!!!! I even tasted pad that just in case of that the lime was squeezed to my pad thai. It was not!!!! I didn't taste lime juice from pad thai. It was definitely an used lime because I can see it was dry. This was my second time here and again, it was awesome. I am a huge fan. It's hard to find good restaurants in Tallahassee but this is one of our favorites. Portions are hearty and quality is amazing. I do have one issue with the restaurant. They only have one high top table that is good to sit at. The other high top tables are too high for the stools. The table comes up to my neck. The stools need to be higher for the other high top tables. Other then that, the restaurant is awesome. We will definitely be back again and again. read more
