Wanted to try a new restaurant and I'm glad I picked here! We were seated immediately. We received chips, salsa and white sauce for free... like the good ol days! We stopped by last Thursday for an impromptu dinner. This was our second visit here (the first was pre covid and for national margarita day). The restaurant had a decent amount of patrons but it wasn't overly crowded due to social distancing requirements. We were seated between 2 other parties but they booths went up high above our heads. We did notice that our booth did not have a QR code on the wall in order to view the menu so we had to use the one at the booth across from us. I read some prior reviews and idk what went on when people were here, but this restaurant is like the ultimate rainy day comfort Mexican food spot near woodlake. Also the wait staff and owner is super polite and professional. The portions here are huge you'll definitely have leftovers. Also the chips are super warm and crispy and the white sauce is that little bit of sweet white sauce that I always like. Some restaurants make it salty. The chori Pollo was delicious. Just left the woodlake location. It's not on yelp, so this will do. Service was slow. We were seated and waited approximately ten minutes before the bus boy came and asked if anyone took out drink order. Our waitress came and took our order and we didn't see her again until it was time to leave. I tried ordering a tree leche, which comes with ice cream, and she brought it in a to go bag without ice cream. I complained at the register and they said it's not served with ice cream, despite the menu saying it is. They also charge more per item if you are paying with a card versus cash. This isn't listed on the menu and the prices on your check will be more than what the menu lists them as. Poor service and bad practice. Avoid. read more

Really enjoyed coming here for dinner one Friday. Didn't have to wait for a table (that have a lot of tables close together). The food was very good! My husband got horchata which wasn't the best we've ever tried, but we have had a lot. I'm surprised at the low reviews overall because we had a perfectly fine experience here. read more

Great deals during social distancing / quarantine-land madness, we ordered a 12 pack of tacos (half soft half hard all ground beef but there is an option for shredded chicken) that comes with chips, salsa, queso blanco (awesome), rice (large plate) and refried beans (large plate) all for $30. Should note by default the tacos have lettuce, cheese and meat and are already put together so they may get soggy... We also ordered family meal of steak fajitas - they said it's enough I think for 2-3 but more like 3-4 people, and came I believe 4 packs of soft tortillas (each had 3 tortillas in the pack), another plate of rice, refried beans, and also a container of lettuce, tomatoes, some guacamole and some sour cream and of course more chips, salsa and queso blanco this time for $35. Something like $70 ... And we have quite the leftovers!! Should note they also had a quesadilla meal and I think at least one more special meal deal but can't recall. I am not sure since I didn't order but I but believe they are taking regular menu orders as well as drinks - at least today beer was on sale for $2 each. An important note at least when I went (Tuesday at 6pm), they are really trying to keep people in a line but it's hard to tell so just unless someone says otherwise, go inside and wait in line and they will get to you and leave earlier because it took awhile to get thru the line! Yaayy for white sauce! First time going here, and we went for lunch. My burrito was ginormous, about bigger than my plate. The carnitas filling was delicious. My husband enjoyed his tacos, and kudos for the fresh avocado on top. Definitely gave us plenty for leftovers, which reheated beautifully the next day. Not worth the price, I'm sure I was overcharged. My 9 year old and I stopped by for lunch since we were in the area. We had one water and one coke, one Texas fajitas, one side of rice and beans and one order of 3 hard shell tacos with ground beef. This was lunch and my fajitas were supposed to be less than $11. The 3 taco dish with steak was listed at $10 on the menu. But our bill was $37. The service was lacking, we had to reorder my child's meal 3 times because he wanted everything on the side and they kept giving it to him put together. I specifically asked for everything on the side each time I ordered. When all was said and done the bill was difficult to read and I was just ready to leave but as soon as we left I realized that I must have been overcharged, that bill was way too high. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Midlothian. It just recently changed name to Mr. Pepe's. Same great food, same great staff, just a different owner. The Nachos Supreme is great. Generous proportions. The burritos were delicious as well. We have tried the pollo loco and enchiladas. The salsa is zippy and the cask sauce is delicious. Decided to stop here right after church for a Cinco De Mayo lunch. This place is usually not open on Sunday but they had all hands on deck and was open today. All of the staff was so friendly. From the time we were greeted when we walked in and all during our dining experience we had staff following up and checking on us. The place did not have a wait when we arrived but as we left around 1:30 the place was busy. The atmosphere was lively because of birthday songs and celebrating which added to the enjoyable dining bag experience. I had the lunch portion of chicken fajitas and my friend had the dinner portion on Steak Fajitas and both came out fast and hot. We had chips on the table with two different types of salsa. I used to bring my family to Don Pepe every Thursday. Something changed after they sold Don Pepe. Some of the staff that we have come to know over the years have left. That says something to me. I have been to Mr Pepe a few times. The menu is the same and some of the Don Pepe crew remained. From what I can tell, the food is still the same. I have no complaints there. Here, my dance continued through fresh, crunchy chips & a huuuge lunch portion of burrito fajita. Not (ever) ashamed to say I ate every bite! I typically am hit in the stomach with regret after my Mexican binges, but after leaving here, I felt great! Maybe fresher ingredients than I'm used to? Terrible service, terrible food. We waited about 25 minutes after ordering for my meal to show up-and my husband's didn't come for another 15 minutes and only after a trip to the front. No apologies at all. My meal was incredibly salty. I had to ask for refills on my iced tea and never did get any equal to go with it. People who came ten minutes after us were served long before my husband's food came. There was no sense that any of the staff cared about any of the patrons.
