I have recommended a lot of my friends with children to go here and they have always raved about what a good time they had.

After several visits over the years, I've only had their coffee and pastries, not their cafe food. The interior is cute and there's often a queue upon entering to order at the counter, but don't let that intimidate you because it moves fast. I recommend getting some of their water on tap (both still and sparkling water are available) if you have to wait! If you're queer like me, you'll likely be drinking a cold black coffee and they have options! They have a regular cold brew in 3 sizes, a cold brew of the moment / seasonal (ask about it!) and a cold brew shandy for something different. My partner and I got two different cold brews on tap today, the original and the Seasonal Single Origin Honduran one. The single origin Honduran was better, but their original was good too. There's a lot of seating, but it's usually taken up, so I tend to just take my coffee to go. Expect to walk out for around $6ish a cup. They clearly care about providing you a good experience with a strong cup of coffee. Give them a shot if you're in downtown Overland Park!

A father and daughter duo next to me showed up in a dandy double breasted suit and a princess dress. I wish the food was as good as the vibe. The coffee, while decent, was lukewarm and the scone I got was stale and dry, coming close to inedible. This, at a cost of nearly $11 after tax. It's near terrible food definitely doesn't stop people from coming in, again, you are in one of the nicest areas of downtown OP and have limited coffee competition, so I guess food quality isn't your number one concern.

Today we decided to try it out again and had to wait about 15 minutes which is better than usual. The host was nice and the waitress was nice also. She checked back with us on various occasions. The restaurant was busy but not too loud. They could do a bit better on the cleaning as the wall of the booth we were in had some food smears from most likely previous children and handprints on the glass behind us. The food was generally good but not as good as other First Watch locations. My gluten free bread was not toasted enough even though I asked for it to be toasted so it wouldn't fall apart as easily. The salad which she said should already have the vinaigrette mixed in, had absolutely none so I had to ask for a side of it. All other locations always have been fine with both of these items, I get the same thing each visit. My husband's BLTE was good but he asked for extra bacon and they forgot it and his bread was not really toasted like the other locations. I've had similar issues in the past when coming here. The check out host was nice and he was professional to a woman that was complaining at check out before we paid. I would just say the service is fine but the orders may have some issues when asking for specific things.

My son said the hamburger was great and tasted so fresh, and my husband said that his western omelette and wheat toast were delicious. We ordered cinnamon rolls to go, and they were amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and this will become a family favorite place to eat!

The western omelet was really good, plenty of cheese. Their hashbrowns had a nice crisp to them/ their sourdough toast was buttered and very crispy, I really enjoy a good slice of sourdough. The burrito was also really good, packed full. Chose chorizo as the meat and it was very tasty. Also tried the lemon ricotta pancakes which were the perfect amount of sweet and zest. They're regular pancakes topped with a raspberry sauce and lemon zest. I would definitely come back but aim for an outdoor seat.

I tried their Watermelon Wake Up limited time drink and it was delicious. I also ordered the trifecta which was a selection of meat, eggs and waffle or pancake. I chose bacon, a Belgian waffle and eggs. Everything was delicious except for the bacon. The bacon seemed extremely salty. They also had a millionaire bacon, I think it was called that was seasoned and sweet. Maybe I should've tried that one. The server asked me how I liked my meal and I told her about the bacon. When she brought me my bill she said she couldn't take the bacon off because it was a part of the whole meal. However, she did take off the price of the drink, which was really kind of her so I left her a nice tip.
