Sweet Lou's was actually down the street and it had some foods that sounded really good. I was seated immediately and my waiter Elijah got my drink order. I asked him what he recommended and he mentioned the Tailgate Eggrolls and a burger. But I was really craving a steak and he said they had a special on prime rib. I'm a huge steak lover, especially prime ribs so I opted for that with the Tailgate Eggrolls. I suppose I was hungrier than I thought after a long day and I ate everything. The 5 Tailgate Eggrolls, a Caesar Salad (not pictured), the prime rib, and a cup of Vegetable Beef soup. The eggrolls were filled with cream cheese, jalapeños, cheese and served with a jalapeño pepper jelly. If you love cream cheese, this appetizer for you. I like crab rangoon, I like jalapeño poppers, and now I like these egg rolls. The Caesar salad was great. Fresh romaine, crunchy seasoned croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese, and fresh cracked pepper. The star of the show was the prime rib. I've had many prime ribs, rib roasts, beef roasts in my life big I've never had one smoked, which was a detail I missed when Elijah was telling me about it. Let me tell you, the smoke flavor was infused with the meat and the seasoning on the prime rib was superb. The addition of BOTH horseradish and aus jus is a nice touch. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Last but not least, the vegetable beef soup was chock full of celery, potatoes, and huge chunks of beef. Hearty and delicious indeed. If you're living here, then I'm jealous Sweet Lou's is here for you. If your visiting, pay Sweet Lou's a visit. Elijah is a fantastic server!

In…read morefact, we met with the previous owners of our home over breakfast at Connie's to discuss the purchase of what is now our house and ten acre lot in Bonners Ferry. That aside, Connie's has become something of a standby for us, particularly in the summer months when we frequent the nearby City Beach. The atmosphere is reminiscent of vintage Denny's and Lyon's restaurants (when I was growing up, my family either owned or managed both, so this place feels like home when I'm there). Like the Hoot Owl, my favorite menu item is their Ranch Burger, which mixes barbecue sauce with a red wine vinaigrette (as opposed to ranch dressing at Hoot Owl), and served on a toasted sourdough roll. Their bacon is very thick and very crispy, with a dash of black pepper around the edges for added flair. Prices are reasonable to what you would expect and portion sizes are generous, with lots of steak fries or hash browns or whatever your pleasure. I'm not big on breakfast, but fortunately they seem to serve lunch all day. Service has always been very friendly and efficient, although if you go on weekends (particularly Sundays), they can be obscenely busy and once or twice this has meant longer waits for seating and service. They're very kid friendly, and have been very accommodating when our son occasionally picnics his McDonald's Happy Meal to the table. Parking can be a little tricky out on the street, but they're very well situated on the corner on Cedar Street, adjacent to and actually connected to part of the eponymous Cedar Street Hotel, and there's plenty of parking on adjacent streets and lots with a short and relatively pleasant walk to the premises. I'm usually reliant on cellular data for any internet needs while I'm there, but chances are you're there for the food more so than lightning fast upload/download speeds so head on over and enjoy your meal!

We waited 6 minutes to be seated while 2 waitresses were at the cash register trying to figure something out. Once seated after another 5 minutes of being ignored, the busser brought us coffee and apologized. Another 10 minutes went by before we saw a waitress to take our order. 30 minutes later we finally got our food which was barely warm. We got a refill of our coffee 15 minutes before our meal and nothing after that. Today we went for breakfast. We were seated immediately and our waitress never showed up nor did we get our coffee for 9 minutes. She took our order right after. It took 20 minute after our simple order was taken before we received it, and once again no refill of coffee. I know Lost in the 50's is 2 weeks away, and if service remains like it's been, you'll have a bunch of upset customers.

Well, turns out it is no longer a coffee house, except that they do serve drip coffee, but I was told that they used to. However, the inside is warm and cozy With a touch of dive and a ceiling full of tchotchkes. It looks pretty cool. Despite looking like a dive bar, kids are welcome and the server was very warm and friendly. We were only there for an appetizer and a drink while waiting for our Thai food to-go order to be cooked around the corner with a 45 minute wait. The four of us ordered the Caesar salad and my son, the chicken strips. We were in for the surprise of our life. We discovered the best Caesar salad ever made. Ever. I'm not sure how they do it, but it was so delicious we all said we'd come back just for that salad. My son reports that the chicken strips were also really good. We just never would have expected the great quality of food we were served here in this "dive bar". The beers we had were also really good. I unfortunately do not recall the names, but my wife, oldest daughter and I all loved our drinks. We are so glad we ducked in here on a cold night. It made for a type of progressive dinner and we discovered something exciting that we look forward to returning to.

Great food, hospitality, restaurant, and beer. I ordered a flight off of the drink menu and I ended up just ordering all four of their ciders since I was very interested in the flavors. Unfortunately, we were having dinner there for our 30th anniversary. She ordered the filet mignon and I ordered the peppercorn New York. Both were ordered medium, and they both came out well done, like leather. Mine had one hint of redness in one spot, so I decided to go ahead and eat it. Her filet was $57, and there was no way I was going to pay that for leather. We sent it back, and by the time I had finished what I was going to eat of mine, hers came back out. This time the center was basically raw, and the outer surface was again overdone, like leather. I don't know how anyone can possibly cook a steak this bad. It would take a lot of effort. I don't know if it was because it was Memorial Day and the regular cooks were off. Let's hope that's the case, but I'm definitely not giving them another chance. I dropped $150 on the worst steak ever. It'd be one thing if they were selling something else and happened to also make a steak, but in this case they described themselves as a steakhouse. I would definitely not give them your money. By the way, the ambience wasn't great either, and to think we drove quite a ways to get there for that dinner. Two thumbs down.
