This little gem on the side of Rt 22 was quite a welcome surprise on the way back from Bar U Ranch. The bistro burger was absolutely delicious. Chimichurri sauce with fresh fresh tomato and lettuce. So simple yet spectacular. The sandwich was homemade fresh sourdough baguette- Also wet very good. The crème brûlée dessert was homemade and just perfect. Highly recommend. read more

Had the Seafood wrap with Spring Mix salad with a light, tasty beet and pomegranate vinaigrette dressing. I never eat dessert, or rarely, but she tempted me with a warmed piece of raspberry and rhubarb pie a la mode. It too was 'licious. I save 5 stars for truly remarkable meals or meal experiences. A 4 is above average food, excellent service and comfortable setting. I give this a 4, and yes, this place is eccentric, just get over it. read more

What? Are you kidding me? These guys can probably do a hamburger, but they know nothing about steak. Ordered the rib-eye for $60. Although it was well seasoned and cooked OK, the quality of the beef was terrible. When asked how I enjoyed my meal, I had to be honest and said the steak was tender and tasty, but full of sinew and gristle - definitely not a good cut. Rather than accept my feedback, the staff became very offended and defensive. I challenged them to cut through the meat but they declined and instead accused me of expecting wagyu quality from a triple A. I've never had wagyu. Bottom line, send it back if you are at all dissatisfied. read more

We all had a great dinner here today! Friendly atmosphere. I had the trout which was done beautifully with seasoned vegetables. The 2 carnivores of our group thoroughly enjoyed their steaks. The shrimp and scallop pasta was very good as well. The meal was so good we needed to try the desserts. Cinnamon buns were big and smothered in a delicious lemony icing (seriously had to finish every bite!) and the chocolate brownie was gone quickly! A surprising, delicious find on our adventure moto ride from Waterton to Banff. This is a true Bistro with menu selections inspired from all over the world. We enjoyed a beef burger and vegan burger. Truly amazing. Best hamburger I've ever had, and trust me I've had many! The Cowboy Burger; Bacon, cheddar, homemade barbeque sauce, topped with onion rings and sauteed mushrooms. Everything is prepared from scratch. Ground sirloin, no breadcrumbs or eggs. Just top quality AAA beef, lightly seasoned, not over-mixed, and flame broiled to perfection! Such a cool place too. Absolutely excellent. The food was marvellous. The service great. The atmosphere welcoming. We had a wonderful time. Jamal, the owner and chef, prepared portabella mushrooms with fresh parmesan and truffle oil. Then we had wild trout in a cream sauce with kippers, turnips, Brussel sprouts, carrots, and bite-sized potatoes. Dessert was a delicious New York cheesecake with blueberries and gooseberries. Stopped in for an afternoon snack after a long drive through Kananaskis. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice pine log interior. The gentleman who sat us down was friendly and told us the dessert selections. We didnt want to ruin our dinner, so we only ordered coffees and a piece of their citrus cheesecake to split. The cheesecake looked like it was made there and tasted very good!! When I asked if it was made in-house, the gentleman said it was and that the crust was made out of nuts so they had a gluten free option for guests. The cheesecake came topped with kumquats and also had kumquats, strawberries, and blackberries on the side with lemon curd!! Very delicious!! So glad we stopped in!!! read more

It's an American restaurant in a log house with a Mediterranean middle eastern flair to the food. Quite good actually. All home made. A bit expensive for lunch though. They have salads, a daily soup and wraps and even steak. It's a family operation of husband and wife. I might have heard a baby in the back. The lady server is a bit abrupt with little patience and a little sarcastic. Clearly her husband is the cook and the manager. But all in all a pleasant rustic atmosphere with quaint music and decent food. read more

Remarkably delicious and creative food. Who would have thought you could find such food out on the road. And we come from San Francisco so we are used to great food. The phyllo pastry salad was fabulous and my daughter loved the chicken club sandwich. The staff was friendly. Of course it's a bit more expensive than the other local fare, but well worth it. read more

We initially stopped at the bar/hotel down the road from this place as it had lots of cars in front and this had none. However that was a traditional bar/burger/beef type place which is not our preference. So glad we did. What a find! My husbands stuffed puff pastry salad ( yes, for real) was delicious, unique and perfectly fresh. My Croque monsieur had real slices of smokey ham, not thin prepackaged slices, creamy bechamel and cheese and crusty bread - it was divine. Our server who appeared to be very young, was so professional and nice. The quality of this food stands up to many much higher end restaurants we've been to. Wish I had tried a dessert! Highly recommend. Heard a teenager complaining about the price of a burger. Yes, prices are not cheap - if you want that, go elsewhere. But this place has quality you don't find everyday. read more

Well, I've never experienced such a rude server!! My husband wasn't very hungry and asked if they had something like a cinnamon bun. The rather abrupt response, and I quote, "This is a restaurant, not a coffee shop!!". Another patron asked if they could turn up the heat a bit (it was freezing in there) and the same dude said that it was already 20 degrees, in a manner that implied "it's warm enough, so stop whining"; those people left. My friend asked for a plate of hash browns, buddy says (also very abruptly) "what are plain hash browns??" as if we were idiots. So not cool... No tip for YOU!! The food was okay, I suppose; we were hungry and there isn't much choice in Longview! If I ever head into Longview again, I'll either eat before I go or try someplace else!! read more

Little New York Bistro is a hard place to peg. While the food served there is pretty good (even if my steak was little more well done than ordered, which wasn't a big deal), the service that I received is a great deal more casual than I'm used to at this price point. Not that it was bad or anything -- actually, it was quite friendly -- it was just more diner-like than fine dining. Also, given the prices, I expect cloth napkins, not paper. And the sun-faded packets of sugar and sweetener on my table shouldn't have been stained (by or with what, I don't know) and the bowl into which they were placed should have been clean. The whole dining room would benefit from freshening up, really. Finally, the music that they played was a bit unusual, especially given the setting. Appropriately enough, it did initially reflect the South Asian roots of the husband and wife team who own the place, but then it slipped into some Spanish-language favourites for some reason. Anyway, it was an unusual mix and it might not have been to everyone's taste. Music is an inherently subjective thing, of course, so it can be tricky to play something that agrees with most. The whole scene made me chuckle a bit, really, for it's classically early 21st century Canadian: South Asian owners cooking French inspired steak dinners in a log house, all the while playing South Asian and Spanish-language music. Like me, I expect that more than a handful of the summer patrons end up at this restaurant because they can't be accommodated at Longview Steakhouse, which is just up the road a little bit. The owners would be well-advised to lower the prices by 20-25% and to improve the dining room experience. I say this wondering how crucial the three months of the summer season are to their bottom line, though. They may need to keep the prices high in the summer months just to keep the lights on. All in all, the experience offered by Little New York Bistro is mixed, but acceptable if you can't get a table at Longview Steakhouse. read more

The food here was amazing one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. The soup of the day was also exceptional. it was a surprising find in such a little town. The service was very quick and friendly (I mean it is Canada). the fact that it was family run was also amazing. Definitely the best place to stop between Waterton and Banff and not just because its the only one. read more

The atmosphere was cool. But the server complained to anyone who listened about how busy it's been. (There was about 4 tables, which I suppose if your not used to it it's busy?) and how she didn't have child care. It's was bizarre. The food took over 45 minutes to come out and my burger was soaked in grease, and totally flavourless. My husbands steak sandwich (that came recommended) was covered in extremely salty au jus. Excellent grub. My buddy and I had the ribeyes. Really tasty. Our wives had those gourmet burger concoctions, and they looked delicious as well. Will go back again when we can. Owner is a very kind fella and came out and visited us. Coffee for dessert and that was excellent too. read more

This café was recommended by the gas station down the street and I had a great lunch. I wasn't expecting a great side salad and wonderful chicken sandwich with pesto. Fresh food and great service. The owner encouraged us to take the backroad to Banff which turned out to be one of the best drives I was on. read more

We had heard about the restaurant and were told it was not much to look at but the food was good. We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint log cabin look of the building. The food was delicious. Very flavorful. Everything is home made by the owner. The salad dressing was wonderfully tangy in taste, made with a pomegranate base. Different. The chicken burger had a nice mango mayo. Over, very pleased with our choice! A new favorite and work the pretty drive. read more
