While the patio is dog-friendly, you have to go inside to the bar to order your drinks and food and dogs aren't allowed in there. So, if you're traveling solo with your dog, be aware of this. I just left the car locked and running while I went in to order, put my placard down on a table outside, then went and grabbed the pup from the car. The Caesar Salad with chicken was lovely and had nice, crisp greens - not just the light colored watery lettuce, this had the medium and dark green goodness too. Still a little bland tasting, but it is a nice size and I ate the whole thing. The chicken on top of it was warm and freshly cooked, and absolutely delicious. I shared a piece of chicken and some lettuce with my pup and he likewise approved. It was a warm sunny day, so I ordered a Kentucky Mule to go along with my salad. Staff was a little busy with tables inside (lots of children at one table) so they forgot about my drink sitting on the bar. It came out just after my salad, so I just decided to make it my dessert instead of my appetizer :) Friendly staff and good food. If you're out this way, why not stop in and enjoy for yourself?

However they were out of whitefish that day so substituted trout with my approval. They were OK, the fine breading was a little tough and there was way too much fish on each tortilla. I wasted over half of the fish. Three huge tacos was too many, I would in retrospect suggest a choice of one, two or three. The slaw was not pineapple slaw as listed but still tasty. The french fries were hot and crispy, I am a french fry lover. We'll be back next visit.

I got the Lake Superior Whitefish fry (Lake Superior was right across the street, how could I not?), which was just ok. The sides were great - french fries and green beans are a Wisconsin match made in heaven. The fish was alright, a bit fishier than I'm used to but that just might be a Lake Superior whitefish thing? When I was ordering, the gentleman in front of me explained that he had been coming here for 30 years and it's the same guy behind the bar--amazing. Every table who asks for coffee gets their own insulated carafe and bowl of sugar and creamer, quite nice since you don't have to asks for refills and the place seems pretty busy....at least it was when we visited on a Wednesday morning. I ordered the ultimate hash with eggs over easy and rye toast. My husband ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and three pancakes, but they had an issue with one of the pancakes, so they substituted a piece of French toast. When we saw the food come out to our table we instantly knew we ordered too much. The portions are huge! Anyway, everything tasted great and we took our leftovers to go for an afternoon snack.
