What a location! This small restaurant is built on a pier. Great tasting fish and chips and good beer. Would be a little better with a couple of tap beers. The seating area is great and the music is right next to the water. We enjoyed a good musician while getting the greatest view imaginable. read more

Pretty great operations with simple easy to understand menu. Choose from three fish options and encourage people to try the not spicy blackened white fish with wild rice and delicious coleslaw for a fair maybe slight high 16$. They had the food ready in 1 minute and it was fresh and hot tasting. Would recommend it to a fellow traveler. read more

After our cruise around the Apostle Islands, we were in the mood for some fish! This little place on the water had a very limited menu, but it fit the bill for us. Absolutely delicious white fish in a perfect setting on the water! We got smoked salmon and white fish spread from their retail store on the way out of town which allowed us to continue enjoying Lake Superior for a few more days even as we left the area. The staff were super friendly, helped us by providing some ice for the cooler, and talked us into a bright red shirt with their logo which will be my 4th of July gear this year! read more

I wish I realized how neat this place was sooner in our trip. I didn't really discover it until our last night, and we'd just done a fish fry the night before... I simply wasn't in the mood for another one. Still, it was such a cool spot directly on Lake Superior so I had to go and at least visit. They were having live music so my pup and I walked over for a beer and to listen to the jams. I don't know how they have anywhere near enough seating in the big tourist season, but we went early enough (both time and date) where we got a table further back from the stage and water. Near the stage the ground is smaller rocks, so I didn't think the pup would be super comfy on it. Also, the music was SO LOUD you'd have to scream just to hear someone next to you. So, we sat at the picnic tables further back and enjoyed our time. I could see their boats from fishing along the pier and smell the amazing scents of the fish fry. I was so sad to not be in the mood for a fish fry, but enjoyed everything else about this place. This is the FIRST place I'm heading the next time I'm back in Bayfield. read more

Amazing fish shop! The fish is fresh caught every morning; usually around 800lbs. The breading is fantastic & make sure to try the jalapeño tartar sauce! Everything is served outside on their lovely waterfront patio. We went for lunch and service was quick. The menu is small and easy to choose from, they also have beers. Dogs are welcome, just try to keep them separated so everyone is happy. read more

This is a cool little shack that has outdoor seating only with a nice pergola with tables right on the lake. They only serve fresh fried white fish with fries, but it was great. They fry it right in front of you and they have cold beer and cocktails to go along with it. It was a beautiful day to sit by lake and have a great lunch. read more

Went here as they opened for lunch on a Sunday since the weather was perfect to be sitting on the dock. We ordered at the counter, and the turnaround was less than 5 minutes to get the food. We loved the condiments table with ketchup, lemon juice, malt vinegar, tartar sauce, and jalapeno tartar sauce. The jalapeno tartar sauce was standout, and more places should have it. Just a little kick to go with the fish. The fish breading was nice and crisp and not greasy in the least. There was also still a good amount of juice in the fish. Off the boat fresh fish done perfectly. Wife had black whitefish on rice and I had fish and chips. Beautiful location on the end of the dock. They had a good band playing on Memorial Day Monday. service was quick and friendly. Could have used a few more fries. Jalapeño tater sauce was very good. Food is a solid 4, maybe 5 stars. But, i can not pay top $ for food with 6 porta pottys sitting in the dining area and all seating out in the cold and wind. Service was fast. The nice-looking lady there made me furious. The only way they sell it us 2 pieces if fish, fries, Cole slaw, and Drink. You can not order 3 pieces or 4 pieces unless you get all of the above. I wanted more fish for myself. Then. She hands everyone their beverage and opens every can. So, if you have a couple of orders that have drinks. It would be nice if the drinks weren't opened. Or, if you are by yourself like I was and ordered two meals because you wanted 4 pieces of fish and would have liked to have saved the drink for later, you are out of luck. I would have gladly paid $5 each for more fish. However, I paid $15 and got the entire thing with 2 opened drinks. She should not just assume everyone wants their drinks opened. And it seems it would make good sense to sell more fish if somebody wanted some. French fries were good. Cole Slaw was barely even a spoonful and was just ok. Now, the only thing they serve is fried fish. This fish has a different batter than your typical Lakeshore fish places. It is a panko battered fish. Not the type that goes well with malt vinegar. The tarter sauce is homemade, and they also have jalapeño tarter sauce, which us good. Would I return to this place? Absolutely not! Go read more

Doesn't get any fresher. Caught and cooked in the same day. Unparalleled natural beauty for an Al fresco dining experience. Friendly and eager to please staff. Meticulous ownership. Great addition to Bayfield with live music to boot. Pet friendly as long as there's not the aforementioned tunes playing. Worth the search and easy to find once you know it's there. Enjoy! read more

My husband, our adult daughter, her partner and I ate here recently. The food was outstanding. The fish was fresh and covered in a light batter the way we like it. It was lovely to sit outside by the lake under the shade of the roof. We enjoyed the live music which was a man with an acoustic guitar singing old folk music. I typically prefer a traditional Old Fashioned, but when in super northern Wisconsin, do as they do. I got a Wisconsin Old Fashioned and it was great. I even ordered a second one! The veggie dumpling soup was beyond my expectations -- I would have just eaten a bunch of bowls of that all night if I hadn't been set on fish fry. I got the Lake Superior Whitefish fry (Lake Superior was right across the street, how could I not?), which was just ok. The sides were great - french fries and green beans are a Wisconsin match made in heaven. The fish was alright, a bit fishier than I'm used to but that just might be a Lake Superior whitefish thing? Still, I found about 6 bones in the fish fry and I've never had that issue at a restaurant fish fry before. I usually give a few bites to my dog but was nervous on this one.
