Such a fun vibe! Our favorite place in Bayfield. They had live music and we also got to watch the sailboat races! Great view. We ordered two drinks and no food, but this is a really fun spot!

My husband and I went on a Tuesday around noon, and it wasn't too busy - about 5 other groups. The service was friendly. I love the simple menu, no long decisions. The view was excellent, and the umbrellas kept the sun off. The fish was good! I could have used larger condiment cups to dip my fish in, but perhaps I could have just spread it on with my fork. We'd go back.

Absolutely loved the grilled and fried whitefish here! Tried both and sooooo much better than standard Wisconsin Friday fishery cod. No frills here with outdoor picnic table seating and amazing view of lake superior. Fast service too!! Only downside was no draft beer, cans only. Also, recommend trying the smoked whitefish from the market, the best that I have had anywhere!! Highly recommend stopping here for Lake superior whitefish

A breathtaking backdrop for the band

Holy cow! I would say a trip to Bayfield is in order just to experience the chill lake vibes from Hoop's Dockside. Live music on a dock that extends into the lake. Spots to sit in the sun or shade depending on your mood. Good beer in cans at reasonable prices. Simple, delicious food prepared to order. Service with a smile. For me, this is almost a perfect place. The only change I would make, and mostly it's because I am old, is to turn down the volume a bit on the musicians. I understand the reasons to keep it loud. In fact, had it not been so loud, I might not have found it. As I was inescapably drawn to the sound of music coming from the water. Okay. Maybe one more change? Beers are good and all, and I appreciate that one can get New Glarus everywhere in WI, but if they could find a way to batch some Old Fashioneds AND turn down the music a hair... then it would truly be a perfect place.

Loved eating by the water and the food was amazing. We got the fried and the grilled seasoned fish. Both were ample servings and were hot dnd fresh

Some of the best fish and chips I've had in the last few years. Friendly staff, fast service and live music were all nice bonuses.

    Adult Fish and chips meal.

This place is AMAZING! We came in about 4:30 amd the fish was so fresh, you can sit down and listen to live music right on the lake. I will say, It gets really crowded and parking can be a pain. The service was really quick. I do recommend.

They added an unbreaded grilled fish with rice pilaf. It was very good. The classic fish and chips was as good as ever.

    Perfect lakeside setting

Very fresh. Very convenient and quick. Perfect setting. We will be back. The fried whitefish and chips were great. Extremely hot day, but the breeze off Lake Superior made it very comfortable

What a location! This small restaurant is built on a pier. Great tasting fish and chips and good beer. Would be a little better with a couple of tap beers. The seating area is great and the music is right next to the water. We enjoyed a good musician while getting the greatest view imaginable.

Blackened white fish with wild rice and coleslaw- good

Pretty great operations with simple easy to understand menu. Choose from three fish options and encourage people to try the not spicy blackened white fish with wild rice and delicious coleslaw for a fair maybe slight high 16$. They had the food ready in 1 minute and it was fresh and hot tasting. Would recommend it to a fellow traveler.

    Superior fish and rice basket

After our cruise around the Apostle Islands, we were in the mood for some fish! This little place on the water had a very limited menu, but it fit the bill for us. Four of us shared the two baskets they offered. Both were delicious. They also have a bar for beverages. We sat out by the water and it was relaxing and enjoyable.

Two words: Whitefish livers…read more Where have these been all of my life? Granted, I'm a liver eater. Chopped chicken liver is one of my all time favorite things. Duck liver, goose liver, calves liver, cod liver, monkfish liver, sign me up. But somehow whitefish livers have evaded me. These were delicious! I also had what might have been the most midwestern meal ever. Cheese curds with ranch dressing, a plate of whitefish livers, and a sweet brandy old fashioned to wash it all down. On the specialty drinks menu I couldn't resist the Berens Brandy Old Fashioned. I mean, I have been a fan of Charlie Berens for a few years but I didn't realize he had his own brandy for the definitive cocktail of Wisconsin. It was delicious, but it also turned out to be $12. For my second round I just got a regular brandy old fashioned which was also quite good, but weighed in at five bucks. Let the buyer beware. Which is ultimately why Pier Plaza fell short of the fifth star. The prices feel a bit high for what it is. Granted, it's right by the water, in a remote part of the state, and thrives on tourists. And that's fine. I have no regrets and would absolutely recommend folks who might be passing through to stop in for a very Wisconsin meal. Portions are large, so plan accordingly.

But in…read morethat time, I had my first ever Wisconsin sweet brandy old fashioned in Wisconsin and on top of that the bartender saved my night with some good old-fashioned empathy and barroom advice. It's a long and convoluted story, but I was with my minor child who was on the verge of a panic attack and needed to sit down somewhere, we were caught in a thunderstorm, and it felt like everything in town was closed. Probably because it was. Bayfield isn't exactly a late night town... nor does Uber or Lyft function out this way, despite the respective apps claiming otherwise. Morty's was close by. It was open. And I remembered that in Wisconsin not only can minor's sit at the bar, if they are with their legal parent they can even have a drink. Man, Wisconsin is the best! But the kid just wanted a soda, and I could have used a drink. So an old fashioned for me and a Coke for the kid. I shared our story with the bartender, and she offered some sage guidance. In a few minutes my wife arrived with the car to bring us back to our cabin. But let's hear it for the good old fashioned bar that provides both literal and figurative shelter from the storm. Wish I could have stayed longer, but even in my short time it left an indelible impression.

They are right down the parking lot from the famous Cornucopia Artesian Well. They even serve coolers full of the water in the restaurant! I don't believe they have air conditioning or anything and it was pretty much sweltering inside from the summer heat. Whitefish Sandwich ($16) - This is a baked whitefish sandwich with the main filet having a spicy Cajun-like seasoning on top. It's strong enough that no flavor from the whitefish is apparent. The fish is tender and flaky, has cheese melted on top, but baking the fish means the center has that kind of dried out feeling. They add a house slaw on top, which is an interesting mix of red and orange pepper, red and green cabbage, and apple. The bun is then slathered with a house sauce, which seems like some sort of tangy mustard based dressing. (4/5) Fish Chowder ($12.50) - This chowder is really thick from the massive amount of incorporated roux. It's thick enough that a spoon stands up vertically without even a hint of instability. The soup doesn't seem to have much cream or milk added given darker shade of grey that hues the liquid. It's very nicely spiced and clearly has quite a bit of fish broth incorporated. They include tons of chunky bits throughout. There are tender onions cooked down, snappy corn, firm but cooked potato, and peppers, not to mention a good amount of fish. Every ingredient retains their individual characters, which is nice. The main reason I didn't enjoy the soup was due to how fishy the broth was - far fishier than other fish chowders I've eaten. (3/5) Overall I found this to be a nice little stop for a quick lunch. I certainly didn't expect to find good homemade food in such a small town!
