In exchange for a ticket, you get the most mouth-watering whitefish, fresh from Lake Superior. They're fast and the seating is shady dockside tables. This place is unpretentious and the food and ambiance is amazing. We were here on Sunday afternoon, but the signs say they have live music. Hoops is definitely 10/10! read more

Holy cow! I would say a trip to Bayfield is in order just to experience the chill lake vibes from Hoop's Dockside. Live music on a dock that extends into the lake. Spots to sit in the sun or shade depending on your mood. Good beer in cans at reasonable prices. Simple, delicious food prepared to order. Service with a smile. For me, this is almost a perfect place. The only change I would make, and mostly it's because I am old, is to turn down the volume a bit on the musicians. I understand the reasons to keep it loud. In fact, had it not been so loud, I might not have found it. As I was inescapably drawn to the sound of music coming from the water. Okay. Maybe one more change? We got smoked salmon and white fish spread from their retail store on the way out of town which allowed us to continue enjoying Lake Superior for a few more days even as we left the area. I wish I realized how neat this place was sooner in our trip. I didn't really discover it until our last night, and we'd just done a fish fry the night before... I simply wasn't in the mood for another one. Still, it was such a cool spot directly on Lake Superior so I had to go and at least visit. They were having live music so my pup and I walked over for a beer and to listen to the jams. I don't know how they have anywhere near enough seating in the big tourist season, but we went early enough (both time and date) where we got a table further back from the stage and water. Near the stage the ground is smaller rocks, so I didn't think the pup would be super comfy on it. Also, the music was SO LOUD you'd have to scream just to hear someone next to you. So, we sat at the picnic tables further back and enjoyed our time. I could see their boats from fishing along the pier and smell the amazing scents of the fish fry. I was so sad to not be in the mood for a fish fry, but enjoyed everything else about this place. This is the FIRST place I'm heading the next time I'm back in Bayfield. read more

Went here as they opened for lunch on a Sunday since the weather was perfect to be sitting on the dock. We ordered at the counter, and the turnaround was less than 5 minutes to get the food. We loved the condiments table with ketchup, lemon juice, malt vinegar, tartar sauce, and jalapeno tartar sauce. The jalapeno tartar sauce was standout, and more places should have it. Just a little kick to go with the fish. The fish breading was nice and crisp and not greasy in the least. There was also still a good amount of juice in the fish.
