Had ordered food here for a friend's event and boy was it a hit. Their pancit is always so good and great quality noodles and ingredients. It's pretty pricy but you also have to remember the high cost of everything and how it's effecting small businesses. A co-worker of mine introduced me to this mom n pop hole-in-the-wall. This place makes very good PANCIT noodles. I usually order the Miki-Bihon Pancit which consists of two types of noodles mixed together with meat and veggies. I love this stuff or the version of Miki-Bihon here. I have tried pancit at other places and usually am not a fan. The guys at the counter are super nice and patient with questions. Place is tiny and very clean. This place is a great value for a standard, fast Filipino combo. Taste: The pork adobo sauce/drippings are really tasty. When they ask you if you want to drench your rice in the juices, definitely say yes. As with all steam tray places, the meat can tend to get over cooked if it sits too long, so I think the batches can be hit or miss depending on how freshly they've swapped it out. But more than not, I think it's been really solid. I'm a big fan of the sinigang too. Experience: This is just a little hole in the wall strip mall place, the seating is nothing special. Most people probably get this for takeout. The food is mostly pre-cooked so it's really fast and easy. The people were friendly and good service. Mood Before/After: Before going to Little Ongpin I was having a really hectic day running around. It didn't cause that to subside, but I was glad the quickness of the meal didn't contribute to any added stress. Fullness: it's a little too much food. I often wish there was a good option to cut the richness of the food, and maybe I just don't know which option that is. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: The first time I went, I was helping to host a house party and running errands before I went to this. I can't speak to everything here but I can say this is the best place I've been to when I'm craving Filipino pancit/noodles. We have been coming here for over a decade now. The location is in a shared lot with other stores (Rite aid, mochinut, other Filipino fast food/grocery stores, UPS, etc) and it's tucked away into the corner of the lot. This lot can get wild and busy, have seen a couple of car accidents here over the years. This is my go to for bihon, miki bihon, sotanghon, and lomi. I have tried many other restaurants/stores over the years and even other Little Ongpin locations but they just can't touch this place. First off, they have the best dinuguan in Los Angeles! Little Ongpin catered my daughter's birthday party earlier this month. Jean was great in helping me decide what/how much to get for 100+ people. We got a whole lechon, beef kaldereta, miki bihon, dinuguan, bistek, and chop suey, turon, and sapin sapin. Our guests loved all of it, even non-Filipinos! Order was ready on time and packed well. I'm hoping to have more big parties at home in the future because life is too short, and Little Ongpin will be my go-to. It was a bit cheaper than two other restaurants I got quotes for. Also, we had to postpone the party once because the household got COVID a few days before the original date. Super stressful, but Jean was very accommodating, and was ready for me when it was time to confirm the order for the rescheduled date. Eating in the restaurant is great, too. This was my go-to spot for a couple years as the young woman with the black glasses was savvy to taking customized orders. As a kidney patient, I have to avoid high levels of salt and with her taking the orders, she was amazing at making sure they would cook the noodles with less soy sauce and less salt. It was perfect everytime as the soy sauce added just a tinge of color and flavor without the typical Filipino heart attack levels of sodium. She would even label the box indicating it was the low salt so you knew that she got the order correct. I had noticed that she would often have to repeat the order to the back as if they were not sure what she was asking, but she got it done. Fast forward to this year. My family has ordered pancit and the last three times, they have not gotten my order right. I get stuck with a box of pure unadulterated SALT which ends up half eaten by others in the family and the rest dumped in the trash. I keep hoping they will figure it out, but with that young woman gone, the people left behind are still stuck in the old Filipino ways of cooking. After today, I have officially given up and will search for the Filipino joints owned by the younger more evolved chefs. If you like the grease and salt, eat here. If you have progressed into a more healthy lifestyle and want to find a progressive yet traditional cooking spot (not fusion), find someplace more updated. This small mom & pop hole in the wall serves some very tasty Filipino dishes, the "pancit" is quite consistent, Always delicious and always has a generous amount of ingredients! The "dinuguan" or Pork Blood Stew, a Filipino delicacy- soooo good! My friend ordered a tray of chicken cooked in coconut milk here and it is honestly the bomb! I like to come here to buy lumpia for potluck it's affordable everybody loves it and they're usually the first thing to be finished at the party. The staff service is very friendly and they're very quick about having your order ready at time of pick up. Went with their 2 item combo and asked for fried rice, adobo (pork) and chicharron (crispy pork) plus a pork steam bun. The rice was ok. Adobo was okay but not great. Chicharron was fatty, yes its pork but cut the fat! Pork Steam Bun was great in my opinion. Went back today and ordered the pancit but mixed, thick and thin noodle. For one it's okay, but they need to offer more lemon. The meat inside was not plenty, two shrimps with the tails still on and maybe four pieces of beef. I have been eating here since I was a little kid. My dad just conveniently worked in the same plaza for many years, and during my early childhood, my grandparents worked in a house just behind the plaza that this place is located in and well - like i said, CONVENIENCE. But don't let that word give you any negative thoughts about this place. Let me tell you, you cannot go wrong with any of their noodles dishes. My favorite is their lomi. It's a soup with a thick broth and thick noodles. I particularly crave for it when I am sick and it has actually became a type of soul food for me.
