Garlic noodles, orange peel chicken, peppers and pork

Been meaning to try this as a nicer alt to Panda Express. The current portion sizes are too small for the price. I ordered 2 dishes and 1 main and the total was around 20 dollars for essentially fast food. The dishes they're served in are very shallow. The garlic noodles and orange peel chicken were good. I do like pandas orange chicken better. My main issue was the peppers and pork. This dish was not authentic to the Hunan region at all, and tasted really bitter and astringent. The pork was simultaneously fatty and dry, and the peppers were greasy and limp. The workers were very nice but it was pretty disappointing.

Quite late to the party but better than never. They were so hyped back then with the viral videos of the robots cooking. Many of the dishes feel similar-ish to the 'you-know-what' brand, but I'd say they try to make bit of twist and the dishes turn out not bad! Minor things, but the food containers and to-go bag also come in decent quality and design! Dining-in is convenient as well despite the limited space. If you don't mind eat while standing, more spots are available for sure. Bonus points, given the meals are ready-to-serve, you get to eat instantly upon ordering. We tried Pepper Kurobuta Pork and their #1 Orange Peel Chicken. The prior was tad too salty for my liking despite the meat texture was good. I certainly preferred the latter as it ticked all the boxes from tenderness, flavor, and portion. Would specifically call out the chili sauce they provided for self-grab at the counter as it was SO SO GOOD!

For a long time, authentic and fast are oxymorons when referring to Chinese food. Tigawok dares to be a trailblazer to change that! I think they deserve the five star just for that courage and vision. But their foods are actually really good! I went in for lunch and I went back to get dinner again on the same day. The chicken with basil leaves his absolutely my favorite! I had that at a high-end Taiwanese restaurant in Taipei once and I would say Tigawok is at par with the best. The braised pork was very tasty and worth the calories. The sweet tomato fried eggs is absolutely their best! I brought it home and my kids loved it. For $2.99 you could get a nice tea. I love their honey infused black tea! That by itself is a great drink to get here. I bet you won't find a decent drink cheaper than this in the entire Sawtelle area. Prices are super reasonable for the quality of food. This is the kind of place that would be great for a group or a family as you could mix and match different items and share them. The staff was super friendly and efficient. For a new customers, they would explain to you how things work and how to order. Definitely a great place to get Chinese food! And you can get it fast without waiting!

Yeah, I'm from out of town so -- wow! What a cool little place! Firstly, upon entering Tigawok, you can tell it has a modern stylish theme and color scheme! The mirrored walls and ceiling give the space a bigger feel than what it actually is. There are several booth seats and single window seats. My brother says this place is like a fancier Panda Express. Firstly, at the counter there is laid out displays of many different dish options. You choose your base first (white rice or noodles) and then can select whatever Mini bowl types of stir fry you want. And guess what? The machine rotating behind the counter is the automatic wok that cooks it! And it did a reasonably good job. None of the items I ordered were burnt and was flavored well. There's a variety of flavors including curry, mapo tofu, I ordered the spicy basil chicken (one of my favorites), pepper kurobuta pork (also very good), and the garlic eggplant and green beans (gotta have my greens). For "mini bowls" I surprisingly made these 'dishes' last me several meals! That helped a lot since I didn't have time to meal prep for the week. The food is contained in these cute little reusable "Tupperware". I washed them and plan to use them as leftover takeout containers for friends when I host dinners. I didn't get to try any of the drinks but was pleased to see some unique flavors (beyond your usual fountain drinks) such as honey-scented black tea and unsweetened oolong. I'd try it next time! Price was unbeatable too! For how much it costs these days to eat out, this was very reasonable! I wish Tigawok will expand up to Northern California. This is such a cute and clever place! (thank you Tigawok for the cute car air freshener too!)

Quick Chinese bite - I ordered 2 of their mini bowls. I was still hungry afterwards. They tasted ok, but the temperature of both dish was barely warm. I dined in, so they mean to serve at that temperature.

Good option for fast, casual Chinese food in Sawtelle. Ordered the orange chicken, chow mein, beef & minced pork rice, mapo tofu, brussel sprouts, and spicy beef. It's a fast casual restaurant where robots cook up the food. You order up front and find your own table. The photos I saw on IG looked great, but most of the dishes were really greasy and not as flavorful as expected. The mapo tofu was especially greasy, I wouldn't order that dish again. The best dish was the beef & minced pork rice. It was seasoned well, not so greasy, and paired well with the rice and side radish to cut through the richness of the beef. Overall good Chinese for the price and portions.

It's impossible to come to Tigawok and not compare it to the fast food restaurant Panda Express. It's clear that they're trying to offer a fresher, more 'hip' alternative. So, with that said, I came in wanted to see how it stacked up against it. And I gotta say, it did very well. The restaurant itself is small. It's narrow with a very small footprint on Sawtelle. You can tell they're trying to cater to the business people who work within walking distance. It's made more for to go than dine in, even though there are some small tables throughout ready for people wanting to dine in. The interior is warm and inviting. Minimal in design consisting of cool whites & light turquoise to match the company's logo/design scheme. The orange chicken was good. Less sweet that I'm used to which I enjoyed, but I wish the breading was a bit more crispy. It's a more gummy piece of orange chicken than a crunchy fried one I'm used to. The fried rice was absolutely fantastic. Some of, if not the most, flavorful fried rice I've ever had at a fast food/fast casual Chinese restaurant. I could go back and just eat bowls of that and be satisfied. However, here comes my biggest complaint (though it's minor in the grand scheme of things). Because this is a small place that relies on robotic/automated wok machines in the back, it can't cook a lot at the same time. Because of that, they're not constantly cranking out menu items. When I got there they were in the middle of making a new batch of fried rice. That meant I had to wait close to 10 minutes for it to be ready. Was it worth the wait? Yeah. Sure. However, had they had more machines or people hand cooking it, I feel like they would be able to ensure that they would always have all menu items ready to go. I think next time I will plan on ordering ahead for pickup. That way should something be out, there will be enough time for it to be cooked properly. If they're hoping to get business people to come by to quickly grab a lunch, I think they need to figure out a more streamlined process to ensure they're never out of anything.

super fun fast casual concept with a lot of chinese staple dishes as menu options. cute interior with spacious seating and pretty flavorful dishes! we got the string beans and eggplant, mapo tofu, fried rice and spicy beef. every dish was pretty flavorful and i think the fried rice was the best, it had a nice smokey flavor.

Went on a Sunday night. I had to wait awhile for fresh orders since they were closing. We ended up with: -Crispy Chili Pork. I wasn't a fan of the flavor -Orange Peel Chicken. My husband said it was the best orange chicken he's had in a long time. I thought it was just okai. -Pepper Pork. Lots of fat They were out of chow mein, wagyu curry and cola chicken. Sad because I wanted to try more but honestly felt let down with what they had available. Not sure I'd go back to try even with the goo reviews.

Chow mein, orange chicken, spicy beef, spicy pork and potato

Pretty good and hoesntly really cheap Chinese food! They have mini bowls and each item is about $5, and the food is sooooo filling. For what is pictured we paid about $35-40 dollars and had plenty left over for 2 people. The chow mein is ELITE as well as their orange chicken. Also got the spicy beef and it was super spicy with the chiles (I couldn't handle and I have a pretty high spice tolerance). Also had the spicy pork with potato and it was a nice palette cleanser for all the spice lol. Would totally come back whenever I want fast Chinese food (even if panda is right next door )

The inside was super clean and the restaurant overall wasn't busy. i have gone to the one in Irvine so I knew what to expect, but this was my parents first time so the worker was super patient. They let me bring my dog in which was a plus! (i decided to leave though because she was a little feisty, not the restaurants fault!)

Chow Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, Green Beans and Eggplant, Mapo Tofu, Orange Chicken
    Hannah B.

Cheap eats for some tasty food. Each item here ranges from only around $3-7. I got 5 items and they all only came out to a total of $25. I really enjoyed their mapo tofu with beef as well as their orange chicken. Their orange chicken had a nice crisp to it, and a slightly sweet orange citrus flavor. Kung pao chicken was good, but the chicken was a bit dry. Green beans with eggplant was pretty good. The chow mein was nothing spectacular, but better than Panda Express's. Overall, each dish was all quite flavorful. The food here tastes pretty similar to Panda Express, but slightly better and cheaper. Only complaint is that everything is extremely oily, but I guess that is pretty common when it comes to Chinese takeout food. The portion size for each dish is relatively small which makes sense for the price point. You can see the food being cooked by the robots in the back which is pretty cool. Overall, great place to come to if you're on a budget and need a quick meal.

    Ask the Community - Tigawok

Are you going to open a store in Orange County?

Hi, yes! Our Irvine location will open in about 30 days. Please follow us @tigawok for all the updates.

The owner just answered a question saying they had gluten free options, but when I look at the picture of the menu, almost everything has wheat allergen sign next to it. Is the menu correct or the owner?

When I went there, they definitely had some GF options. It's been a while but I know the egg tomato thing was GF and of course the white rice. This is what I got for my daughter who is GF so it's all I remember.

    Gluten free options?

Yes they have many GF options!

What oil do you use to fry?

Hi, we cook and fry with soy bean oil.

Does Tigawok use MSG? Which dishes use sugar? Thank you.

Hi, There is no added MSG to any of tigawok's dishes. Most dishes have some sugar and the amounts vary but mostly sugar is used to add a hint of sweetness or to balance out the flavors of the food and is used sparingly.

Are there any vegan options available?

There are several! The carb options are nearly all vegan to begin with, and of the entrees, about a quarter are vegan and another quarter are vegetarian.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and a friend of mine would be there almost every day and I would meet up with him. He started going to another fast-food chain because he thought the deals were better elsewhere and the pricing cheaper. I go to this restaurant very frequently especially during late hours as I need to take a walk to get my exercise and I like to stop by and relax to get a snack and nothing more as eating late is not good for my health. I was approached by 2 employees who wanted to know why I was so cheap in my purchases. I found this conduct very unprofessional making me feel very uneasy and I know they resent me for not purchasing items in their overpriced menu. The reason Jack in the Box Inc is closing stores, in debt and having their main group of customers low income Hispanic not returning is because of their overpriced menu and the "offers" section is meager. Fast food workers have gotten their raise in wages in CA and the prices have gone up but what about the customers? Are they getting better customer service? Not happening here at this Jacks. I always go for their "offers" section. I also am a regular at another fast food chain and the store manager actually sat down with alot of the regulars to get their input ( noticing the decline in sales because of their over priced menu). I told that store manager I just want to be left alone and the importance of socialization. At Jack in the box I did nothing wrong and the employees bother me. Why? Why are these employees blaming everything on me for not purchasing their over priced menu? Maybe they should start blaming Trump and the ICE raids for scaring away Hispanic customers. Or convince these low income Hispanic customers to purchase from an overpriced menu. I would probably purchase more if the deals in their "offer" section were better but they got progressively worse. Their rewards section was revamped recently to make the points worth less. I was able to purchase a Sourdough burger a few weeks ago. But now I need alot more points. In summary I just want to be left alone, offered better deals as Jack's has very few good deals on their menu. Their $6 burger combo is an example of shrink inflation ( smaller burger same price as years ago) Their $3 free Jack burger if buy Large drink is their only good deal left over.
