The Orville is our favorite for food quality, and ambiance. The selections are always prepared extremely well and very tasty. The drinks are average but we love the glassware! The bartenders are very attentive and consistent in their weak alcohol pours. Staff- very well trained and personable. The only significant fault is the staff asks at least 5 times during our meal "how is whatever we are eating?" It is annoying and they are consistently interrupting conversation. You can barely take the last bite before they are asking if you are done and can they clear? Definitely makes it difficult to "enjoy" the great food and atmosphere. We eat there almost every week because of the food BUT every time they ask us if we have been there before... we recognize all of them by name but few remember us. First time here. Came with another couple. We had 6:00 p.m. reservations. The building has been lovingly restored, with bar and dining areas on both the first and second floors. We were seated right away on the second floor at a regular table. There are also some high-tops that were being used for parties of two. Our waitress did a great job getting us waters, menus, and our first drink order. She also let us know what the weekend specials were. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, which was very good. It came with a bunch of pieces of grilled sourdough bread, which complemented the dip nicely. Our drinks were good, though I felt the Golden Hour Paloma was a little underwhelming. For entrées, we ordered the Grilled Salmon, the Orville Salad (with shrimp), the Filet Mignon, and I had the special, "Inferno" -- a grilled tenderloin filet on top of a deep-fried portabella mushroom, served on spinach with a touch of sriracha. While waiting, the server came over to update and apologize for the delay. I only mention this because I really didn't think the wait was unusually long (but I appreciated their attentiveness). After a few more minutes, our food arrived, and it was excellent -- served at good temperatures, with terrific flavors and generous portions. The special (filet on mushroom and spinach) was excellent. The filet was ordered medium rare but came out closer to medium; still, it was very good. The fried mushroom was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sauces were an excellent complement and tied everything together. I would definitely order that again. The noise level was good overall, though there were moments -- when seating new tables or during the ordering process -- when it got VERY loud. I wouldn't have wanted that to last the whole time. The server was nice and took half off our Cesar salad, but it came with no dressing. I thought it was just light, but I got to the middle and and tried flipping it to disperse it. We met on Saturday night prior to a show. At the bar when an Old Fashion was requested they charged for an Old Fashion and for the whiskey in the Old Fashion. They must be playing the money grab game! At our table, food was ordered. Gnocchi was one of the orders, the waitress asked if they wanted a protein. They said yes and were presented with a nice rib eye. They charged for both entrees which totaled over $60 without any extras! No mention was made of an addition cost for the protein. Again, the money grab game! I ordered salmon. It was a nice presentation which had brussel sprouts and a potato mash which were both very tasty. However the salmon was dry and looked more like a frozen fish stick than it did a piece of salmon. I won't be returning any time soon! read more

Staff was just as excellent as the food! It's rare today to have service that exceeds expectations and the staff definitely did! Every single person had exceptional manners, poise and grace while interacting with you as a guest. They also worked together like a machine helping each other out every step of the way. The building is historic, which always is a plus in my book and its quaint and charming inside, with just the right mix of modern + vintage. Service was great and food was delicious. We were a group of 5 and opted for 4 appetizers which was the right amount of pre-dinner treats. The cheese curds were delicious! They were little triangles and SO good. We also had the grilled shrimp, steak, tartare, and the burrata, which I definitely would order again. For dinner I opted for the filet mignon which was the perfect size and cooked to perfection. It was a Packers Friday night in Wisconsin so a fish fry was calling! My wife and I headed to The Orville to try something new. We went early (5:00pm) so we could be home to watch the game. We got seated right away in the homey dining room. This restaurant is in and older building and is nicely finished. We started with the cheese curds as we had heard they were very good. They were gooey, salty and delicious with a dipping sauce that was delicious. We recommended them to the table next to us as it was their first visit as well and they agreed!. I ordered one of their craft cocktails, the Toasted Old Fashioned. I am used to a typical "Wisconsin Old Fashioned" and this drink seemed a little small. But what it lacked in volume it made up in taste! My wife had a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. We both ordered the fish fry and I also got a cup of the clam chowder. The soup was hot and tasty and the fish fry was exactly what we wanted. We both had leftovers because we were feeling full from the appetizer. But the meal was fantastic! I believe our server was Karly and she did a great job as well. Very attentive. We had an excellent experience and were home in time for kickoff. We will definitely be back to The Orville! Awesome place. Food was good, ambiance was cool and chill, service was awesome. Made last minute dinner reservations for my wife and I's anniversary. My started with the crab cakes which were pretty solid. My wife got the filet and I got the ribeye both were cooked to order and pretty stellar. For dessert my wife got the raspberry cheesecake and I got the carrot cake. As we told the waitress not much causes chaos in our relationship but if we shared desserts the world would burn. The carrot cake was stellar I told my wife that if they make those in house order a whole one for my birthday. For drinks my wife loves spicy bloody Mary's and I'm a huge old fashioned fan. Hats off to the bartender(s) that bloody was awesome. The toasted old fashioned was phenomenal, highly recommend. The staff were exceptional and very attentive, to include the bar staff. I was asking the waitress after I was finishing my first old fashioned if it were possible to switch up the bourbons in it? Not because the bourbon in it originally was bad just for a little change up. Bartender comes over to our table and asks very politely and genuinely concerned if there was something wrong with the old fashioned she had made. The waitresses we had were also stellar, attentive, joking with us throughout the night. The restaurant and the staff also give you cards for special occasion. Cool touch which led to one of the jokes of the night cause they accidentally gave us a card saying happy birthday so my wife was making fun of me cause I may be prone to not paying attention and maybe I marked the wrong box when making reservations. Long story short they accidentally gave us the wrong card, we laughed they laughed just added to the night. In all honesty we shoulda just kept the birthday card to add to a box of memories. Will never return!! We had a reservation for 5:00pm last night for our anniversary. We arrived on time for our reservation and were taken to a table upstairs under a slanted wall. We immediately asked for a different table, when we did, another person at another table even commented, "you don't want to sit with your head tilted for your entire meal," the hostess came back and told us she could move us to a different table but that specific table had a 6:30pm reservation so we would have to be out prior to their arrival. The restaurant knew it was our anniversary, we made our reservation in advance, and they couldn't move us to a different table and worry about the other reservation when they arrived, especially with almost all of the tables open?? Between the upstairs and downstairs there were maybe 5 or 6 tables being used. After this, we will no longer go to The Norbert or The Orville, horrible customer service. I should mention, on our way out, we were asked, if there was something wrong, when we told the person at the hostess stand, their only comment was "okay." Took my wife for her birthday and it was 93 outside temp. We walked in the door and their waitstaff was absolutely sweating. We were seated and realized the temp inside the restaurant was really warm. We asked the server snd she told us that their A/C was old and couldn't keep up with the temp outside. She informed us that it was 87 degrees in their upstairs bar and that it was 83 in the restaurant. We stayed and my wife really enjoyed their coconut shrimp. I had the ribeye and had to send it back because it was undercooked. Once I got it, it was tough and not very good. It was not a good experience at all. I do have to say the waitstaff was excellent and provided good service, even if sweating through the whole dinner. I would not recommend going there. read more

Big disappointment for our business dinner of reasonably discriminating 6 diners from MKE and Fox Valley: "Spinach-Artichoke" dip was more like spinach-flavored mayo - hey, how about some spinach and artichoke? Coconut shrimp was passable, and the tahini sauce was tasty. "Focacia" was bizarre: some bread with sprinkled cheese, nothing like the menu description. Dinner? ALL THREE filets were sent back to the kitchen = Medium is NOT "medium rare" - and the beef quality and portion were poor. Pork chop: thin, overcooked, chewy. Salmon: Way overcooked. The one person who ordered a salad lucked out. Bright spots? Service, décor, location, deserts (Tiramisu, carrot cake - must be made elsewhere). -- Can someone buy the chef a meat thermometer? On second thought, can you get a new chef? -- Only four other tables when we were there; the word must be out. Our next meeting will not be at their sister restaurant, either. We went here for the first time this evening to celebrate our anniversary. I've heard nothing but good reviews and now I know why. I had the Violet Hour cocktail and it was unbelievably tasty - the perfect blend of sweetness and lemon. The cheese curds with dill ranch were delicious. My husband had the filet, which was tender and cooked to perfection. I had the roasted chicken which came with a mushroom and spinach pasta. The combination was heavenly. The staff offered us free dessert for our anniversary. We went with the chocolate tart with sea salt and carmel drizzle. It was one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. We really enjoyed the ambience at the Orville We sat upstairs and had a great view of the war memorial across the street . We had some of the best food that we had enjoyed recently. Both of our entrées were excellent. Unfortunately, it was super cold inside the building, and the manager refused to raise the temperature to a comfortable setting. Other patrons in the area were wearing their coats zipped up as was I. The Desert we had was carrot cake. The frosting was delicious, but the cake itself was dry and crumbly and very disappointing. A very nice dinner set into a historic building overlooking the courthouse. I love the charm of the building-especially the 2nd floor. It was warm and cozy on a winter night. Our server, Brittany, was stellar. She was engaging and funny and provided some nice recommendations. We started with both the burrata and the steak tartare. The burrata was classically prepared with roasted tomatoes, homemade sourdough and olive oil and was solid. I wasn't as much of a fan of the steak tartare. The tartare solo was just fine but I didn't enjoy that it was placed on top of the sourdough slathered with horseradish aioli. The ratio of aioli to meat was off-making it too saucy and cloying. Again, not terrible but much rather have the components separated so I can mix/add to my liking. For our entrees, we all ordered pastas-gnocci, bolognese, and agnolotti. Appreciate that the pastas were all homemade and each dish was tasty with the favorite be the agnolotti with duck confit. While it was very rich, it didn't come off as heavy and paired well with the wine. The lamb/beef bolognese would benefit from a dollop of lemon ricotta to help balance against the "lambiness" of the dish. I will definitely put Orville on my list of my "go-tos" when I am in WB. Went to The Orville with my husband last night. We use to love the Poplar Inn, so this was our first visit to the new restaurant. I ordered the filet. It was cooked medium which I ordered, however I didn't like the Port Demi Glace sauce. Too sweet and salty and all over the plate and on my mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the Cacio E Pepe, which he thought was good. My drink had too much ice in it. Not much alcohol. We'll have to try it again. read more

Our waitress was friendly and helpful with picking menu options. I'm gluten free so I ordered the chicken. It was comfort food and very a nicely done classic dish. The Orville salad was honestly the star of the show -- the flavors of the sesame dressing, the blue cheese, apricots, shallots and pecans were a light but complex flavor profile. Also worth noting, it was something different that I hadn't had before, exceeded my expectations, and a dish that I want to replicate at home! My friend has a pasta dish that she enjoyed, although she did make a comment about how it was smaller than she expected with the server's description of the dish.
