I would give 5 stars for the food and the expended menu items. They are beyond amazing, but ever since Covid the dine in experience is 1 star by far. You have to wait to order. They take your order then seat you and it's like there is no server other than the host. If you want a date night or night out with friends to just chill and hang and take your time, this isn't the place. I wish they would change it back to the old way, the dine in experience where you order at the table, but they decided to keep it this way. The restaurant seems dead all the time because of this. My family and I are regulars here, it's great for both children and adults. Today we got here, before the dinner hour and it was already pretty full, and got seated immediately. After sitting at our for only a few minutes our waiter, Javi, came to get our drink order. Since we come here so often we already knew what we were getting. We ordered edamame and the sushi appetizers to munch on before our meal. I ordered the Hibachi Red Snapper with Mushroom soup and a salad, my husband ordered some rolls, and my youngest got some fries cheese with rice and sliced avocado. Our wait wasn't too bad, the rolls and cheese sticks came out first. When my red snapper came out it looked awesome! Initially my gripe was hat the vegetables were under seasoned; however, once I ate half the red snapper and dug into the thicker portion I realized that it was raw. I realize this is a sushi place, but my expectation on hibachi grilled food is that is cooked. I wish I could say that this is the first time I've been served raw hibachi meat, but it's not. They've served me raw hibachi chicken! When we pulled Javi to the table he was very accommodating and asked if we wanted the fish off the ticket. Well, I ate half of it! We ended up getting it discounted, which is fine. The cooked portion really was very good, I just wish it was all cooked! I love the sushi here. The service is not great. They hire a lot of kids with no oversight so it's often not the best service. Ate lunch there recently and ordered a bento box from the lunch menu. What should have been $13 ended up being $22. They asked what salad I wanted and I picked one from the options the server gave me not realize they charged extra for anything other than lettuce. So I paid $3 extra for a salad that was only $3.50 if I'd ordered it by itself. Same deal on the roll. They charged an additional $3.50 for a roll that was only $5 on the menu and gave me fewer pieces. If you go there stick with the sushi and watch out for the extras!! read more

Overall the food wasn't good. It lacked taste and seasoning. The shrimp fried rice literally had 4 shrimp in a large amount of fried rice. I assumed it had a comparable amount of shrimp to other restaurants and I ended up eating all four shrimp and not having any more shrimp to enjoy with the fried rice. The chefs and servers claim that the quantity of four shrimps is normal for their restaurant. Because of the small amount of shrimp, the remaining fried rice was a waste for me because of the absence of meat. The crab puffs were significantly smaller than other restaurants. The noodle dish that I ordered lacked flavor overall especially with the broth. It was as if I was eating colored water. The only thing good I would say was the traditional drink which I will add a picture of. When you first get in the restaurant, you will be prompted to order & pay your food as if it is a to go style restaurant. The servers were non-attentive. If I needed something (to-go containers, question about my shrimp fried rice, etc) I had to find them. Lastly, the wait time on the noodles and shrimp fried rice was a longer than standard cooking time. This was strange because I went on a non- peak day (Tuesday) and it was not busy. I just have to say that although my waitress stuck a dirty spoon (it had a piece of rice stuck to it) in my jasmine tea, this is definitely a restaurant worthy of 5 beautiful red stars!! Thankfully, I have GPS and made it there without any problem. We went there for my Unit's Christmas dinner. About 8 of us met there at about 6pm on a Friday evening. Now, I am not exaggerating when I tell you the place is tiny! There are maybe 10 tables for all and the place may be 18 by 18 (not counting the sushi bar). The place was full of people, but luckily, our waitress Emily was able to put two tables together for us. The food is Wonderful. I had so much food that I couldn't think of eating again until the next day at about 10 AM! (lol) I shared my meal with one of my coworkers and this is what we had: Appetizer: Spring rolls ( with peanuts sauce) Yum Yum! Lettuce wraps Yum Yum Yum! Told there was a 30 minute wait and we were OK with that. Seated in 10. They were very busy tonight. Wait after ordering was about 30 minutes. Felt like forever to get the appetizers. Food came in about another 30 minutes after we got the appetizers. Three servers in the building and ours seemed to have the most tables and the only one we saw who was also tending bar. Took forever for drink refills. If we didn't like this place so much, we would have never waited to be seated. I got the Gyu Don. Big bowl of rice with thinly sliced beef, onions with sesame seeds. Was cooked just right. There was a reddish orange garnish on the side. Not sure what it was, but it had a really bad taste to it. The entree itself was awesome! Definitely on the do again list! As always, the hot and sour soup that clears a nasal system better than mentholatum. My daughter had the Chicken Yakisoba with the gyoza soup. Noodles galore with nice big chunk of chicken , onions, cabbage and scallions with a sauce that makes your mouth water. The ladies restroom was out of order. No locks on the doors and women had to use the men's room with hopes men wouldn't walk in on them. Minus one star for that. Sweet and sour sauce was watered down and looked like pink lemonade. I was skeptic about trying Little Tokyo because people have mentioned a long wait...so during my first visit I didn't hold high standards and expected to leave if I saw a long waiting line. Upon arrival, we (my boyfriend and I) were seated right away. Maybe this was beginner's luck? Anywho, let's talk sushi! My initial reaction to the menu was that it was EXPANSIVE. Even the pickiest of picky eaters couldn't complain. There was a little something for everyone. I love how the sushi menu was organized and directly told you what each roll was like (ex: There were sections labelled "Crunchy Topping" and "Spicy Lovers"). So there was no confusion as to what you were getting, I cannot count on one hand how many times I have misinterpreted what a roll would be like at other sushi joints. As far as taste goes...YASSS (insert praise hands emoji). The sushi was quality and you can't beat the prices. The prices on their website are mostly current if you want to look ahead of your visit (I can attest to that for all you takeout lovers who search the vast interwebs for a full menu). I have been coming here for years! We live in Dallas now but we stop in every chance we get, when we come to Houston. You just can't beat the price and quality. Between my husband and I we got 4 roles, dynamite crunch, Noah's ark, green monster and New York, and all of them were AMAZING! I didn't get to take many pics of my food because the kiddo had my phone and plus I was just absolutely disappointed. The wait was definitely not worth it, then the server greeting and took another tables order before us and we were seated first. That's a no no! When another waiter finally came I could tell he had to be overly cheery because I'm sure he knew the food was not good. First the salad was drenched in wayyy too much dressing, then the miso soup was ok and I'm not a tofu expert or anything but that tofu in huge chunks like that was just not right. Ceviche sushi??-enough said, you just don't mix Spanish and Japanese cuisines together and try to call it sushi! But I give them an A for effort. I would never have thought Sushi & Pasadena, TX would go together. We get to the strip center it's in & my initial thought before walking through the door, was that this wasn't going to end well. That couldn't be further from the truth. I've had sushi all over Houston, in Hawaii, Vegas, New York, & California, but this place seriously is one of my favorite places to eat sushi. It's a mom & pop operation, their roll selection is one of the more extensive roll lists I've seen. They have solid appetizers I like the cheese puffs & gyoza. I've tried many of the different rolls they have & have several favorites, Toinette, Rowdy's Volcano, Sam Houston, Isaac, & The Flying Stevenson to name a few. I tend to enjoy a bit of sake when I dine in there as well. The sushi is reasonably priced & you get a good bang for your buck. read more

This is by far the best sushi restaurant and our all time favorite! In fact we even got engaged here 10 years ago when it used to be smaller. The only reason this place isn't a 5 star is because even 10 years later the service is still awful haha don't go if you're in a hurry or starving. Just don't do it. BUT the sushi rolls are always delicious and fresh and affordable. Our favorites are the Krystal, Spicy Dynamite Cruch, Spicy Tuna, and Christa. Stopped going b/c ordering process & no wait staff available. This used to be a good place. Now you must wait in line outside in the hot sun or rain, purchase everything at once at the front counter, and then hope they bring everything. As a former employee for over 5+ years it baffles me that people still pay hard earned money to eat at this restaurant. Every step of the way to get food on your plate they are shortcuts being taken to cut labor and cost. Just about ever appetizer is from frozen and nuked in the microwave, every piece of meat that goes into fried rice is cooked up by cooked all the way through by chef Mike (the microwave). This kitchen is actually a joke run by untrained, low cost employees that do not care about quality. This also translates into the service, there is no real manager, the owner is the so called "manager". Leaving basically no room for standards, as the young employees do not know how to handle customer issues. Not to mention the infestation of pests in the restaurant. I lived in La Marque for a while and would still make the drive go enjoy their Hot & Sour Soup! Hands down the best I have ever had. It's not thick and syrupy (like most traditional). I have had MANY rolls on their menu. My Top 5 Fav would be: 1. T&R Roll, 2. Lady Tiger Roll W/ Spicy Crab Crunch, 3. Mango Madness, 4. Fairmont Roll, AND 5. CC Roll.
