The Dolly a frozen creamy lemonade and vodka drink that comes in a titty cup that you get to keep!

We were impressed with absolutely everything. First, even though it was still terribly humid and hot outside when we walked downstairs and entered the restaurant, it was cool and crisp! Such a welcoming thing when you live in the armpit of hell. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. I've said it before but I'll say it again. It's such an easy thing for staff to do that makes the guests feel welcome even if you can't help them right away. Acknowledge they've come in! They did just that and seated us very quickly. We got there just before the rush which is usually how we roll. We ordered so many things. The bang bang calamari, the rotato and the ceviche. The calamari was perfect sizes and the crunch was real. The bang bang sauce did the job as bang bang sauces usually do. This one was tangier than most which I loved. Wasn't leaning on the mayo too heavily. The rotato is the always delicious spiraled and fried potatoes. You can't go wrong there. But the ceviche was the star of the show for me. Mango, cucumber, coconut milk, hamachi - I could eat it every meal and not get tired of it. We got so many starters that I was basically full so we shared the steak and potatoes. I rarely buy steak out because we make really good ones at home but I really enjoyed this one. Perfectly cooked. Seasoned with care and the potatoes were the perfect coupling. I'm excited to go back and try more. And don't forget the delicious drinks. I got The Dolly which comes with a titty mug you get to keep. Just do it. I'll need another one because you can't just have one titty mug.

We visited this restaurant today/Sunday late afternoon. It was really fun. The atmosphere is unique as it is in a cellar of a really old building. It's shadowy & mysterious with cool old architecture, spooky taxidermied critters, dried eucalyptus in bundles hanging from the ceiling & twinkling chandeliers & neon decorative lights. The restaurant, bar & bathrooms were all clean. The service was prompt & the server was polite & friendly. I had the spinach side salad with the salmon & my date had the Caesar side salad with the pork chops. All of the food was fresh & excellent. I was so glad we stopped in. It was such an adventure to go to this unique, quite magical hideaway in a world of predictable chain restaurants. I wish there were more places like this. It felt like I was in a storybook world for just a little bit. Downtown Lockhart has all sorts of cute shops & amazing architecture. I can't wait to stop back by again one day & find another magical spot.

BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE TROUBLE... we arrived for a celebration with reservations @6, there were 6 people at the bar... we waited patiently for the red head who was in deep conversation with guest seated at the bar to finish and come greet us, whew! She seated us took our drink order proceeded to get our server and headed to the bar , she grabbed our glasses to make our dr I nks and held them and cont her convo with bar guest glasses in hand for at least 10 min . We got our waters looked over the menu and ordered our starters, we were the only guest at tables to dine and waited 20 min for drinks, one drink was spilled from bumping into the other server and had to be remade. Drinks were good , starters to follow also good , we had party bread and mushrooms fried. Then came the entrée burger with buns charred black and my pasta with prawns also chared black! We asked foe new buns and a pasta instead of remaking prawns. We needed another cocktail but was never checked on or asked, finally got servers attention and asked what gins you had she didn't know, must be new, also didn't know about what the wines for the eve special and went to ask. We ordered a desert and then told it wasn't available, we were the first guest ordering food so not sure why they offered then said they didn't have it but put it on the bill anyway and had to have it taken off. The good... the cocktails made by the young lady with short blonde hair blue highlights. The bad ..... the price of the food that was burnt with the exception of the food fried, is the cook a fry cook? The ugly.... the red head didn't give a crap about anything but her conversation with the people at the bar who were not even ordering food! this was a painful 50 dollars a head meal to celebrate my son's new home in lockart, we have been to little trouble many times and never had a bad experience like tonight. "B" TEAM? MABYE I won't be going back , but seems like if I just wanted a drink at the bar and wanted to talk to the bartender this is the perfect place, dont drop $200 dollars like I did tonight to try and go out for a nice upscale meal in lockart you are better off getting BBQ! #FOODIE #BIGTROUBLEATLITTLETROUBLE

What a hidden gem. Casey and Dodds make you feel at home the second you walk in. The atmosphere is eclectic-ish that just fits the 100 year old basement. Then the drinks and food make the experience complete. I got so excited about all of the sensory stuff going on that I totally forgot to take pictures but honestly, the food looks just like the media photos. We had custom bar drinks and a local brewery beer to start. Appetizers were the TX Tartar and Fried Cheese. Amazing mixes of seasonings, cheese and meet in the tartar. The fried cheese was an exciting taste burst when you bit into it. Main Courses were the Grilled Ribeye and Al Pastor Fish. Perfectly cooked to the correct temperature, the ribeye is amazing. Now I would never order trout from a restaurant. Too many times, trout is ruined by the freezing/thawing process. This was the chef's suggestion so we went with it. I don't know how he did it but Casey prepared that trout like it was fresh caught that morning. Then the explosion when you bit into it. Sauces, garnishes & seasonings in perfect harmony. I drooled a little. For desserts we had the Banana Pudding Cake and the Chocolate Cherry Mousse. Wow is all I can say. So will I go back? Already did :)

Beef Tartare knock out your bbq cravings and ceviche fixes in just one bite.

The Gruene Door did not disappoint! The drinks, appetizers, salad and main courses were all phenomenal with no exceptions. As someone with decades of food service experience, it's rare that I don't have something that I would change. But the service and food were both fantastic. The music was lively but not overbearing and the patio was calm. Our waiter was attentive, but not overly so; so we felt our needs were met without being hovered over. If I were to suggest anything, it might be nice to have candles on the tables, and maybe even a fire in the outdoor fireplace even though it wouldn't have needed for heat; just ambiance. Also the windows are tinted so darkly that initially I was afraid the restaurant was closed, so maybe consider an illuminated open sign facing the main road. But this place was great! We'll be back!

I really liked the lamb. Dish. That one wasn't too salty and had a nice flavor. I never was a tenderloin/filet mignon type person. Yeah, it's tender, but lacks the nice beefy flavor, so that might be one of the dishes they could add more salt to or have a strong sauce to go with it. Everyone's tastes differ, but that's based on my personal tastes.

Absolutely wonderful experience at Emmer & Rye with the fam tonight! This is one to try for sure!…read moreFirst off, beautiful restaurant with great people and great ambiance - service is attentive, kind, and genuine. Second - they have Michelin Green Star and are ZERO waste - and they explain throughout the meal how they make this happen. So very cool. And the food - 5/5 for sure! So good to know - we learned that the best way to order is sharing. The restaurant makes items as they're ready, and that means if you order a pasta, and someone else orders the chicken; you might be eating your dishes at different times. Good news! We love to try everyone so don't have to ask me twice! Standouts - Johnny Cakes with toasted egg foam. Delicious and decadent - not to be missed. The bread - everyone loved it. The butters and honey made on site using leftover cheese, yogurt and fruits (aka zero waste). All the pasta, but specifically the Cacio e Pepe - perfection. I could say something about everything but to suffice to say it was all wonderful!! Thanks for a great night!

Overall: 4.5/5 [Dine In]…read more The staff was welcoming, and the restaurant is dog friendly! We brought our friend's dogs to the outside patio, and the staff even brought out a water bowl for them which was sweet. The food came out at a good pace. They recommend 7 plates for 3 people, but we only ordered 4 since we had a heavy lunch. If we had a bigger appetite, adding an extra pasta or protein would round out the meal nicely. Smoked Gulf Oyster ($18): Four oysters served in a delicious pork and miso butter. I am not an oyster person, but this one completely won me over. The flavor is already perfect on its own, so the peach hot sauce on the side is entirely optional. Johnny Cakes ($16): Six small corn cakes with an egg foam sauce. The cakes were a touch salty, but the egg foam rounded things out nicely. Pappardelle ($24): Oh my goodness, the pappardelle was so bouncy and fresh that we were perfectly happy eating it on its own. That is not to say the smoked wagyu short rib was not equally enjoyable. The meat was tender and beautifully flavored. Texas Akaushi Wagyu ($65): The wagyu leaned on the saltier side, though it may be intentional. What really shined were the beef tallow sweet potatoes in black garlic sauce and chimichurri. They were delicious on their own and did a wonderful job of balancing out the richness of the meat.

Having previously enjoyed sister restaurants J Carver's and Red Ash, our expectations were high and The Kimberly exceeded every, single expectation. The Kimberly restaurant has clean architectural lines, modern décor and dim lighting creating a romantic ambiance. Although we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Europe, we chose The Kimberly to mark our actual anniversary date. From the moment we arrived, the evening felt special. The hostess greeted us with a warm "Happy 25th Anniversary," and our server, Robert, followed suit. Fresh flowers adorned our table, along with a handwritten anniversary card. It was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully considered. The menu showcases contemporary American cuisine with global influences, and every dish was outstanding. We began with the Crispy Salt & Pepper Lobster Tails, which were perfectly crisp, light, and incredibly flavorful. Our salads, The Kimberly Greek and Shaved Brussels Sprout, were fresh, beautifully presented, and large enough to share. For our entrées, I chose the Sautéed Red Snapper while my husband enjoyed the Wood-Roasted Double Breast of Chicken. Both dishes were expertly prepared, flavorful, and memorable. The Mousseline Potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. Throughout the meal, members of the management team stopped by to congratulate us and ensure everything was exceptional. Complimentary glasses of champagne added another thoughtful touch. We finished dinner with the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake with macadamia nuts and house-made caramel ice cream. It was pure dessert nirvana...despite being completely full, we somehow managed to finish every bite. While the food was extraordinary, the service was equally impressive. The level of hospitality was remarkable, with every member of the team contributing to an experience that felt personal, genuine, and celebratory. They did not simply serve dinner; they helped create an indelible memory. Will we return to The Kimberly? Absolutely!

Everything was incredible, truly. Started with cocktails…read moredangerous woman, which came with this salty foam on top that was so interesting, and actually added to the drink, as well as being pretty (no photo, sorry); and don't carrot all, a carrot margarita. Would order the carrot margarita again, definitely. Ordered bread service and tuna tartare. Parker house rolls were so soft and came with a really nice whipped butter. I bake bread at home but I wanted to try the rolls and they were really good restaurant rolls. The browned cheese on top creates a really nice crust. Tuna tartare had mandarin orange, avocado, sesame, and tamari, served with sepia crisps. Delicious. Shaved Brussels sprouts salad was so nice, the sweet grapes and Asian pear went really nicely with the vinaigrette and shaved aged manchego cheese. Ordered 2 more cocktails, naked in manhattan and love and lust martini (pornstar martini with a champagne sidecar) and both were good but super sweet, so if you don't like sweet cocktails I wouldn't go for either of those. For the main course we ordered the 30 day dry aged porterhouse and Mousseline potatoes. If you ask me, the potatoes were the star of the whole show, but I could eat potatoes for every meal and never be sick of them. Truffle-forward but not too funky like some truffle dishes can be. Puréed to perfection and covered in a rich, creamy sauce. Princess Mousseline potatoes, I love you. The porterhouse was so, so good. They served it with the bone standing up, which was hilarious to us, but it really wouldn't have mattered what it looked like because it was seasoned and cooked beautifully, and so juicy and tender. Got the au poivre sauce to go with it and it was delicious but the steak honestly didn't even need it. For dessert we got the burnt marshmallow gianduja tartufo, which was like a chocolate hazelnut not-quite mousse in a chocolate shell with charred marshmallow on top. The crunchy hazelnuts and chocolate shell with the cold, creamy chocolate-hazelnut mousse, and the warm marshmallow together made for a perfect bite. So rich and balanced and not cloyingly sweet. Our server's name was Tarkan, he was wonderful every step of the way. He learned our names and used them each time he came to check on us, which made it feel personal. Support staff was very attentive, clearing any dishes and glasses as soon as they noticed us slowing down, making sure water glasses were always full, announcing each dish as they dropped it off. The restaurant is dimly lit, booths are cozy, bar is beautiful. I was too busy eating to check out the bathroom. That never happens, I always check out the bathrooms when I go to a new place and I'm a little upset I forgot, but I guess I'll just have to go back. 5 stars for sure.
