I should hit this place for lunch more often since it's to close to my office. It's a generous box for lunch and comes with a soup that reminds me of meals my Mom would cook while I was growing up. Today's options were sesame-garlic chicken, braised pork, or mushroom-bamboo fish. It came with the soup, rice, cabbage, bamboo and tomato-egg as sides. Everything was solid. Small mom and pop business. They serve 3 different types of food everyday and post the menu on their fb page. One dish is $11 (tax included) so its very simple and straightforward. 1st time visiting this place. Waited 45 minutes for them to make my food. They were serving Chinese speaking customers first and skipping over English speakers telling us to wait on the side. The older gentleman was very rude and kept shouting in Chinese to my friend who was patiently waiting for them to take our order. Note that my friend is Chinese but does not understand it (only speaks English). The older gentleman just kept shouting at my friend and I felt bad for him because the older guy was full of anger. Food was decently priced for the portion but the customer service was terrible. We originally tried to make a phone order before going to this place and the older gentleman answered, screamed something in Chinese and click, the phone was hung up. So we just drove 8 minutes from work to take our order which ended up taking a long time. Not worth the wait. If you go here you have to speak Chinese otherwise be prepared to wait and be skipped over. read more

Found this cute Taiwanese restaurant at walnut. They have many bento choices with very reasonable price at $8.00 per bento including tax. It comes with a soup togo. I placed my order by phone on Monday special black bean fish filet, with a lot of side veggies (rice noodles, egg, fresh steam broccoli). One thing that I like about my bento is that it's not too oily or salty. This small restaurant is getting better by ordering items by phone in advance. You're not ready for this steal of a deal. Delicious food, nice portion and variety, select daily options, fast service, low price, good hard working people, what more can you ask for? Have to check their Fb too see what's on the menu or call in to ask. They usually release the daily options bi-monthly so u can look ahead of time to see when you want to eat a specific dish. Always hot and fresh, tho I've have a single dry chicken leg before but hey some people like dry. At least u know chicken is cooked through. This place is the bomb, especially if you like homestyle Taiwanese food. They rotate the menu all the time, similar to Echizen with their lunch specials, and the portions are pretty damn generous. Everything tastes deeeelicious. Even if it's not a huge hit, you can at least appreciate the way its made. This place is dope! Okay, I will say though, the customer service isn't exactly stellar. I believe it's run by a couple who are pretty straight to the point. In a way, that's the authentic experience, right? Finally decided to try it after seeing it for a bit. It's a small mom and pop shop tucked away inside a business park. There a few tables inside and outside but most people take their food to go because they pack it for you that way. They have a rotating menu of Taiwanese food. You pick one of three entrees that comes with rice and a few other sides for $10. The service is quick and convenient even with all the phone orders they get. If you don't know about Taiwanese bien dang aka lunch box, I'd suggest you stay clear of this little eatery that specializes in just that. You won't understand the delicious vegetables that are blanched in soup and how the taste reminds you of the little hole in the wall shops in Taiwan. If you're looking for salty food, then skip this place too, you won't understand the flavor. They have different menu items every day. To me this restaurant was hard to know at the first place, even to the local because it is like hidden in the business district, to hard to miss because of their yummy food and price. You can have a main dish, vegetable, rice, and soup for under $10 bucks. This is honestly one of my favorite places to get take out when I want to eat at home (which is pretty rare, but for this joint I'd be down to just eat at home). I've never actually dined in here, but the interior of the restaurant is pretty big and clean, with nice, quiet, red ambiance. The countless times I've come in, whoever was working at the cashier was always very attentive and sweet. The food also doesn't take too long to come out, the longest I've ever had to wait was 10 minutes. I love their bento boxes, they usually have a choice of three different options of bentos, and this is one of the few restaurants that give off an authentic Taiwanese flavor and vibe. The food isn't too heavy or salty, but extremely tasty and freshly made! I definitely feel like this place is underrated, as it is in a very lowkey plaza off a corner of a main street, across from a residential neighborhood. Just a quick review... I used to come here for stinky tofu or dan dan noodles, but I will probably not return to this place again. I wanted to introduce my coworker to this place for local Taiwanese food, but it was quite a disgusting experience. The chicken appeared to have been from yesterday and recooked, and you can easily taste this in the food. We also tried the BOGO drink special and they gave us boba that was made from the previous day. The waiter said everything was fresh, but then I hear them say in mandarin that they didn't have time to cook the boba yet... These guys lost my trust and I cannot recommend this restaurant. This is on my permanent ban list... PS... this experience explains the restaurants "C" food rating.... they are looking at money and do not care for quality of their food. Tried this for the first time today despite the warnings for non-Chinese speakers and the owner's rudeness. I figured I'm here to eat not to date the guy so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But seriously, you guys weren't kidding. Ordered the Fried Chicken Leg, was told to change it and he goes into the kitchen to grab some popcorn chicken (by bare hand no less, considering he was just dealing with money), shoves it in my face and says "Change it to this". I said, "No thanks I'll wait." As for the food, reasonable portions, kinda bland vegetables, super salty chicken. It was just average for me, hence the original 3 star rating. But with his lack of customer service tact, telling me to change orders just so it suits him and unhygienic chicken offerings, that's minus 1 star for me. read more
