WHY I CAME HERE? My first time here. I found out about Fu Restaurant located in Walnut through a Yelp event that they held a while back. I didn't get confirmed in for the event which was no biggie. I still wanted to come here and check them out. So glad I did because their Taiwanese foods were amazingly delicious. YUMMY! FOOD: I wanted to try something different. Below were the dishes I chose. 1 Chinese okra - I have never eaten Chinese okra before so this was a new and exciting experience. It was all about the okras... lots of them. Portion was huge. The only thing that was odd about this dish was the after taste... I can't put a handle on it. I may have to ask them next time. 1 Eggplant with Basil - Wow, this was the BEST eggplant dish I have ever eaten! It was so very fresh. Huge chunks of eggplant. Flavor was on point. This is a MUST GET every time! Yum!! 1 Wontons with Chili Oil - This was just okay. Nothing special. 1 Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili - AMAZING! This was SO GOOD! Love the flavor and spice combo. Funny, I didn't eat this dish until one week later (I had a lot of other foods to eat LOL) and it was still good as if I had eaten it on day one. Imagine if I did... how much tastier it may have been. Yum! Anyhoo, this is another MUST GET if you love fish. I do LOL. 1 Mapo Tofu with Pork - If you spend $58 or more, you get one complimentary mapo tofu dish. Cool! Thank you for the free dish! I've never been a big mapo tofu fan, but this was quite tasty. STAFF / SERVICE: I placed my order over the phone. The lady I spoke with seemed very nice and pleasant. I paid for my food upon arrival. I believe the lady was the owner. Sorry, I don't remember her name. She was more pleasant and friendly in person. Thank you miss for the warm hospitality and service! INTERIOR / AMBIANCE: Very bright and welcoming. Open space with lots of seating. EXTERIOR / PARKING: No outside seating for dining. Plenty of free parking. RECOMMEND THIS PLACE? My next visit will be dine-in if possible. I am ordering my eggplant and fish again plus other delicious dishes that's on the menu. YES, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Stop by after reading some good reviews about this place. . Came by during the lunch hour on a weekend but it wasn't busy, thankfully. We ordered almost everything on the menu (see photos). Reasonably priced and delicious. Every item was pretty standard in terms of taste and flavor, but that's a good thing. There was no disappointment. We even received a complimentary mopo tofu (not too spicy) for ordering some many items. The sweet and sour fish was a favorite. Inside was clean, modern, and new. Service was excellent. Fairly local for those who are in the area and students at Mt. SAC. Around the same area where the old Stater Brothers used to be, which is fairly quiet and plenty of parking. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Checked out Fu restaurant and recently got to try: scallion noodle, popcorn chicken, orange chicken, spicy wonton, spicy cucumber, mapo tofu and salt and pepper shrimp. My favorites were the mapo tofu, cilantro beef, and popcorn chicken! The mapo tofu had a great Szechuan flavor and the garlic beef was so tender! I normally am familiar with this inside a beef roll but I enjoyed that it was separate and was a good appetizer! Popcorn chicken had a great flavor too! The scallion noodles also had a nice flavor but is on the oilier side! The spicy wonton and shrimp were ok - not my favorite as it wasn't as flavorful as the other items. The spicy cucumber also had a nice bite to it and was refreshing! Great service and nice ambiance! Food came out quick!

Visited Fu Restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. We were greeted and given a table right away. The environment seemed very clean and welcoming. Alicia was our server and was on top of everything. We never had to ask for anything because she would ask us first! She was very friendly. Food: Chicken Fried Noodles were absolutely amazing. They were super flavorful and I couldn't get enough. Definitely 5/5 Wontons with Chili Oil were okay. I may be a snob when it comes to these because I order them everywhere. 3/5 Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and chili was sooooo good. I will definitely order this again. 5/5 Orange chicken was ok. I wanted it to be sweeter or more orange flavor if that makes sense. 3/5 Sweet and Sour Rib were delicious. 5/5 Shrimp fried rice was super yummy. 5/5 AM choi was a nicely flavored vegetable to get. 4/5 Salt pepper shrimp could have used a little more seasoning. 4/5 I HIGHLY recommend this place. I loved a majority of the food I tasted and there is still so much more of their menu to try! The portion sizes are great too. This place is definitely a hidden gem that I will be returning to. The vibe, service, and food were all amazing.

Ordered to-go and it was bit of a disappointment. Beef stew noodle - noodles were very starchy and powdery, no green onions or cilantro, soup was just OK. However, the beef stew cubes were great and tender. Twice cooked pork- oily and very salty. Filled with cabbage and peppers, with very little pork Garlic A Choi- not much garlic but it was decent, can't mess up veggies much Shredded pork and bean curd- way too much corn starch Way better and more flavorful Chinese restaurants around. Maybe other dishes are better but the staples I typically order weren't great (but not absolutely terrible).

This new Taiwanese restaurant replaced and OG family favorite Taiwanese restaurant. The place is definitely a family owned business with minimal staff during the grand opening period. There menu has a majority of classic dishes with VERY classic flavors, as mom says. There is only one auntie working the front of house so be patient with her as she literally has to do everything herself in this huge restaurant. She does an excellent job however! The food was delicious and one of the best in the SGV area if you've tried other places. We got: The signature 3 cup chicken is delicious with crunky bone-in chicken thighs with perfect seasoning. Excellent with rice with just enough amounts of savoriness The Egg plant basil, another signature item has exactly the flavor profile of what the dish is suppose to taste like. The egg plant is super fried tender and very aromatic with the fried basil and perfect soy to sweet ratio. Yes that was the exact feedback mom said too and she uses this dish as the measuring stick for many restaurants. Kung Pao Chicken. Another measuring stick for any Shanghainese/Taiwanese restaurant and skill level of the chef. The dish was perfectly dry/wetness level with just the amount of ratio of meat to veggie with seasoning to oyster sauce. Not too salty or too sweet. ALMOST better then moms, highly recommended. Oyster Pancake. This one was very different from the majority of other restaurants, even the night market versions in Taiwan. The base has layer of chopped napa instead of Taiwanese lettuce so gives the dish more veggie bite. The oysters are large and plentiful with the perfect red sauce and glutinous rice flour. Beef Roll: This item was our least favorite. It does have a very thick crispy onion pancake crust with ALOT of perfectly tender sliced beef. The issue with the dish is the sauce or lack of actually. It's missing the sweet/tangy amount of oyster sauce inside with the freshness of the large amounts of chopped cilantro that make this dish awesome. Yes its good but they need more sauce, otherwise its literally a dry beef onion pancake roll. Overall we did love the food and service here and absolutely will come again to support our local Taiwanese small businesses! Yes they have delicious winter melon too!

Fu Restaurant is located in the Walnut Hills Village just across the way from Mount San Antonio College. But despite being at the corner of Amar Road and Grand Avenue, this restaurant has managed to float under the radar with just 44 reviews and a 4.2 star rating. Seeing this, I decided to give them a try on a Thursday evening in hopes of finding a new spot to eat. For this to-go order, I decided to give the House Special Chicken ($16.95) and Sausage Fried Rice ($15.95) a try. And although each dish had a few surprises inside, the portion of food did not seem to be much. Looking at the House Special Chicken first, each piece of chicken was of a moderate cubed size which made for a palatable dish. Made up of the chicken and some ginger, the dish was rather simple as well. But with most pieces having fragments of bones between the meat, the portion of chicken was less than anticipated. Moving on to the fried rice, I did enjoy the sliced pieces of thick sausage inside the dish. But with only a reserved amount of carrots, peas, and eggs, the dish relied on the rice to give it substance. Eating these two together, I was able to feel full between one meal to another. But if I only could only order one of these dishes, I would have left hungry! Looking at a price to portion aspect, I would order something else. Although the food's portion left much to be desired, the flavors of the food were simple and on point. For starters, each piece of the House Special Chicken had a subtle sweet undertone. And with the inclusion of the ginger, the chicken was somewhat spicy. Because the meat was moist, it really made the difference in the quality. As for the fried rice, the grains of rice themselves had a light soy sauce flavor which set a subtle savory bar. Throwing in the sausage added a heavier sweet taste to the rice that helped a lot to bridge the gap between the rice and chicken. To this though, the peas, carrots, and eggs, did not have much of an impact because of how little of these there were in the ingredient mix. From a holistic taste perspective, both dishes were both simple and flavorful which really made each taste of higher quality compared to your typical Chinese restaurant. Fu Restaurant has something good going on in their kitchen with some great tasting food. For those looking for something simple and food that tastes of home, this spot will definitely satisfy that craving. But with a price to portion ratio that is smaller than others in the area, I would argue Fu Restaurant's House Special Chicken and Sausage Fried Rice deserve a middle-of-the-pack 3 star rating. The food is by no means bad, not by a long shot. However, an increase in portion size would help it compete with other spots in the area. Good start, just keep going guys!

Had a Door Dash gift card that I received as a gift. Ended up ordering from here since they had a buy one get one free special on certain items. Everything was packaged nicely and food items were still hot and fresh. For the buy one get one free item, we got the beef noodle soup. Price wise it was great, the beef noodle soup itself was just okay. The other items we ordered were very good. We got the beef roll, popcorn chicken, and sweet & sour pork ribs. Beef roll was my favorite. Ordered to go but did pick up at restaurant instead of delivery. The restaurant itself is clean and fresh - I think they remodeled not too long ago. Worker was really friendly and made sure my order was good to go. Nice neighborhood restaurant.

I was attracted by the restaurant's decor and decided to give this newly opened place a try. The staff is very friendly. I tried the following items: Popcorn Chicken Rice: The side dishes were very plain and disappointing. Some of the larger pieces of chicken seemed undercooked, so I didn't eat them, but the flavor was good. Unfortunately, there weren't any spicy options available. Beef Roll: The flavor was average. It would have been better with some sauce. Stir-fried Rice Cake: The only item I would recommend, definitely worth trying.

Came to one of our favorite restaurant in this plaza, the food here is always delicious. We ordered the pictures I posted below but instead of going through each one, I'll just say that it was delicious! Although, a take out would diminish the taste a bit but that's the same with any other restaurant. Will definitely come back every now and then.

Found a gem in walnut, came here with a craving of the Shanghainese food. A must order dish is their fried rice cake with mixed beef bits radish and shrimp. Loved their vibe and the service was quick and friendly. Enjoyed all the dishes with no disappointment, the price was fair and portions were big!

I think it looks small might be the effect of the picture. Cuz for beef rolls I ordered, they are even bigger than the usual I ate.

We ordered a variety of skewers and sides: - Smashed cucumber salad was refreshing and one of my favorites veggie dish - Lamb and Beef skewers were decent and tender - Special pork jowl had a good fatty texture and great flavor. - Grilled eggplant and scallops were decent as well. Some items were more hit-or-miss for me. The signature chicken wings came out dry & overcooked, and the chicken skin was super crispy almost like air-fried chips -- personally I prefer chicken skin freshly grilled with a softer texture. The beef tongue skewers were sliced too thin, and okra were dry. Service was understandable for how busy they were, but it could be hard to flag someone down during peak dinner time. Overall, I'd say the food quality was okay but not the best skewers I've had, especially at around $50 per person for our group. Still, it's a convenient and lively place for late-night skewer gatherings with friends if you're in the area.

I took my mom here for a Mother's Day brunch and my birthday celebration because it falls around…read morethe same time every year. I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

It's a brown sugar milk tea with caramel foam with a floating frozen milk tea bear. ADORABLE!! The set even includes two house-made cookies. WOW! TASTY!! (Important: Cash is not accepted. Bring card or contactless payment.) I arrived at Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) on Wednesday (around 10:21AM). Parking is very easy. The lot is big. However, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is very hidden. It has no visibility from the street! Staff is very professional and welcoming. Staff politely and cheerfully answered all my questions. Staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. For example, the location does not have a paper menu; all the menus are accessed via QR Code. Fortunately, Staff let me borrow their iPad which allowed me to see the menu on a larger screen. When I'd arrived, Staff asked if I was dine-in or to-go. I was immediately seated. When I'd inquired about the boba. Staff honestly told me that they needed 15 additional minutes to prepare the boba. I brightly waited. All in all, after the 15 minute wait, the drink took an additional 10 minutes before being ready. As mentioned, I ordered the Boba Bear Set ($8.50). CUTE!!! It's a very aesthetic and memorable presentation. The boba pearls came perfect; they're bouncy, perky, and playful. The brown sugar milk tea mixed with the caramel foam tasted honey-like. It's very TASTY! My biggest nitpick is that the amount felt tiny. Still, it's a wonderful memory that I'm so happy to experience! On ambiance, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) is comfortable and clean. There's about 13 interior tables, and there's six patio tables. The music is slow-tempo, and the tall ceiling made it feel spacious. In addition, Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) has utility. There's customer internet with password; details are available on the QR code menu. There's also about four electrical outlets. I also appreciated the self-service water station. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. Hide Out Cafe (Rowland Heights) felt very hidden yet well-maintained. It's a lovely spot. Overall, I had a magical, memorable experience. I discovered AMAZING milk tea and many precious memories. If searching for someplace special, I happily recommend. 4.9 out of 5

Very pleasant experience…read more Went on a Friday around 6:30 PM. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a waitlist where you write down your name and number. The young woman working immediately acknowledged us before we even finished writing our info down and asked how many were in our party. We said two, and she told us to go ahead and start building our bowls. The concept is pretty cool and very straightforward. You grab a bowl and tongs, then walk through the different sections choosing your ingredients. They had a good variety of veggies, noodles, meats, seafood, tofu, etc. Pricing is by weight at $15.99/lb. Once you finish building your bowl, you head to the cashier where they weigh it and you choose your broth and spice level. The broth selection was surprisingly huge, around 15 options if I remember correctly. I got the Tom Yum broth mild spice, and my girlfriend got the Organic Miso mild spice. We also added jasmine green tea and white rice for $1.99 each. After ordering, they give you a table number and you can head over to the self-serve sauce station while your food is being prepared. The sauce bar had ponzu, sesame oil, soy sauce, sriracha, Tabasco, scallions, cilantro, red onion, satay sauce, shallots, minced garlic, chili powder, chili oil, and more. The soups came out quickly and were served over a live flame at the table, which was a nice touch. Both broths were excellent. Even at mild spice, there was still a pleasant kick. The broth itself had good body and flavor and didn't taste watery at all. Service was also great. The server checked on us consistently, kept drinks refilled, and was attentive without hovering. The restaurant itself is pretty small, maybe around 8 tables, but it felt cozy rather than cramped. Nice interior, comfortable temperature, clean setup, and the vibe was relaxing. They were playing bossa nova versions of 2000s and modern hits which honestly fit the atmosphere perfectly. Definitely a spot I'd come back to. Great value, fun experience, and genuinely good hot pot.

I ordered a curry chicken cutlet and double matcha (pure matcha selection) and my order came out in less than 10 minutes. I must've gotten lucky to be the first one here because I noticed later customers receive their orders in 15-20 minutes. The curry chicken is very good for its value. $16 for generous amount of chicken and its thick and juicy. The curry was good flavor on the sweeter side and had a good amount of spice (my level of choice was 2). The double matcha was also very good, they use Marukyu Koyamaen Rindou and the matcha flavor was strong enough to my liking. The cream top was thicker than other places I've tried in the area and had good matcha flavor. For the double matcha I went with Pure Matcha which is matcha with water + matcha cream top. The ambiance inside is like a tea shop, cozy, lots of tables without feeling like a restaurant but rather like a place to study. They had calm music playing when I was here. The Air Conditioner was also on and it was very comfortable to sit inside. I'd definitely come back. I think it's good value, the workers are very nice and it's good to support family owned.

The cafe has a nice inviting decor. It's always nice walking in and seeing the interior. They've changed it around a few times which is cool. The service is also good, we've never had any issues with our food.

There are a lot of Thai restaurants around the area but this one stands out to me the most. The…read morerestaurant is very clean and modern. The menu is extensive and packed with so much flavor! Khao Soi- hearty noodle soup with a curry like broth. It comes with egg noodles and your choice of protein. I love, love this dish. Thai Boat Noodle- most places skimp on the meat but there is so much meat here! A comforting dish if you're sick. Chicken Satay- moist chicken with two delicious accompanying sauces. Easy appetizers for kids! E-San Sausage- perfectly grilled sausage that is so good by itself or with rice. Tom Yum Fried Rice- good flavor and my kids surprisingly really enjoyed this dish. Drunken noodles- possibly my least favorite dish from here. The noodles were all stuck together and compared to everything else, it was quite bland. Staff is attentive but sometimes service is kinda slow. Definitely check this place out if you want a delicious meal without the wait.

The kids really enjoyed the chicken satay and the peanut sauce was tasty. Papaya salad was decently spicy, but it was good. Pad thai and pineapple fried rice was not bad. Also got the roti with curry, which was a big hit.
