It's my first time coming here for a friends 21st birthday and our server, kaien, is fantastic. You press a button on the wall when you're ready to order and they come very quickly as do the drinks thereafter. They have practically any song available but if not then youtube is always an option! drinks are delicious and strong. The parmesano truffle fries came out hot and crispy. me and 3 of my friends went here on July 30th. I was really cute. things you should know before you arrive at your designated time if you want to get your monies worth. The clock starts at your designated time. So, if you book for 7pm be sure your party is there at least an hour early. This way you can order your drinks and food before the clock starts. If you do not order before the staff will come into your room if you want to place order and interrupt karaoke time. They don't take into the consideration that they have to explain how the machine works, the interruption to place orders for food or drinks. This is all a part of the time booked. Came here on a weekday afternoon with family . It was a fun place and the food was really good . I wish there were more song selections and that they didn't keep your ID and credit card the entire time you were there. I didn't feel comfortable with that one bit. read more

I came here from NYC for a bachelorette party and I booked their smallest private room. It was the perfect size for 6 girlies singing their hearts out. Love the adjustable LED lights and comfy couches in the room. There are tv's on both sides of the wall so whether you are performing or watching the person singing you can read the lyrics. The songs can be searched from YouTube, my group didn't have any problems at all with the system lagging which helped keep the energy going. The bridal squad loved this private karaoke but outside of the room was amazing too! Looks can be deceiving because we got there around 7:30 and it was empty then 30 mins later it was a full house. It was LIT! Mostly everyone was participating in singing that night. The few times I left our private room I heard Drake, Cardi b, Nicki Minaj, Latto, Migos etc. so it's more of hip hop vibe but the crowd was diverse. Overall I totally recommend and look forward to going again. Ohh yeah the decor is to tier! I mean the hallway lights is a vibe for boomerang/ videos for IG. The bar is large and the main area is medium size (crowd of 60 standing) but has a a large projector on the wall for you to see the video for the song playing and it also plays on the ceiling. If i could give half a stars i would, i do not recommend coming here unless you just want to vibe and sing. The service was terrible, bar tenders and manager were rude and aggressive for no reason drinks took forever to come and were terrible and i would say something about the food, but i never received what i ordered after waiting more than an hour and a half. THEN was disrespected by staff for asking for a refund which i did not even get my full refund. This place is a joke and a complete waste of time and money. If you do come here to sing, get food and drinks somewhere else before hand. read more

This place is terrible. The karaoke videos are not the actual music videos but strange, videos of nature, trains, or random people. You have to reserve online but they hold your card until you go to leave. Then they charge it without letting you look over the bill. Several people in my party had ordered and paid for food at the bar so that it wouldn't be charged to the room. It was charged to the room anyway. Then when I tried to talk to the manager about it, he got angry with me. He took me back into our room and pulled out dirty dishes to "prove" to me we had those food items. It wasn't until we showed him the paid receipts that he relented. Didn't apologize for being so rude though. So he voided the $300 from the first charge on my card and charged me the correct charge. So I had over $500 taken out of my bank account because they can't figure out how to not double charge food. Ridiculous. We will never go back here. read more

Last weekend I threw my husband a surprise party and it was the best! I can't say enough about management!! I had so many questions leading up to the event and they were patient, responsive and very accommodating to my request. When we arrived everyone was friendly and the waitstaff was so attentive. DO NOT GO THERE! An absolute horror of service and scammy + fraudulent operations. Their karaoke machine is a Rube Goldberg machine to the point it's unusable, and doesn't even have that many songs other than Chinese songs, and they ask you to search YouTube if your song is missing. If we are going to sing along YouTube, we could do that at home and why would anyone go there and pay for it?!? And even after we raised the issues and asked for refund they brought a wine bottle which then they claim is non-refundable, even though untouched, and they won't even let us take the bottle with us. Only after the police intervention, they agreed to refund the intact bottle. Their staffs are extremely rude, and they stick you in the face as soon as you walk in with this weird paper form with a long list of 'policy', which later they use as a way to steal money from you without rendering services and foods you asked for. Absolutely worst experience and you can see there are many similar such accounts on this review. Nobody should ever patronize this place. read more

The ambiance and service itself is nice. We booked a small room for a party of 10 and felt a little cramped. The karaoke system in our room is what makes for this lower rating. It was barely responsive when we tried to type things in, and some of the songs in their system had terrible timing between the lyrics and the instrumentals. They surprisingly also didn't have many songs that we'd expect them to have so we often ventured into their YouTube option so that was a little inconvenient. They have a 10% tax + 20% gratuity + other fees applied to everything so the final cost for anything is a pretty significant increase compared to the base cost. Overall, there are definitely much better karaoke places at a more reasonable cost than here. If money is not an issue and you want a pretty place to sing at, live-k can be a good fit for you. read more

Some colleagues from all over the country and I were in town for a conference and looking for something fun to do on a Sunday night, not an easy feat for Downtown DC after midnight. We almost gave up hope until I happened to find Live K in a last ditch google search. Skip past the quick Uber to Navy Yard, the private karaoke room was super cool, cocktails were good, and they even let us order food even after the kitchen had technically closed. The fried chicken wings were fire and the gyoza and spring rolls were also pretty good. The song selection is modern, so be prepared to hit the "YouTube" backup option if you're old school, but other than that, one of the best DC nights I've had in my 20 years of visiting. Great selection of songs and the private rooms have a great atmosphere. Waiters are quick, however I feel like mine stole from me. He refused to bring me a receipt. I order $19 lamb and a soda, my bill was $30 and some change. When I ask for a receipt he ignored me and kept coming in delivering drinks without making eye contact as I try to wave and get his attention. They put your order in the tablet but only let you glance the total page which doesn't have a breakdown, I think he added a large tip for himself. It was an Asian guy with glasses. read more

I had a great time w my friends. This was first time coming to live k and will probably be my last. I have never had to drive around a garage for 30 min trying to park (that's a dc problem not a live k problem). This establishment is so money hungry that they lack professionalism and ppl skills. Everything has a 20% gratuity although the service is terrible. Close out during each transaction so that staff doesn't get overwhelmed. I don't like that they had to hold on to my id and credit card during my time. After our 2 hours we wanted to extend our time but there was a gentleman of Asian decent who was extremely rude. While inquiring about extending our time and in the middle of me speaking he taps a black gentleman and walks away from my conversation to pass me off as if my conversation was beneath him. He was not available to ask or answer questions and then presented himself as if he didn't understand what I was saying. He was rude and not empathetic to ppl who have spent hundreds of dollars in this establishment. Would've had more fun w kareoke at home. read more

This place is terrible. We paid to reserve a room for 2hrs. They called us and let us know that despite what the website says we could come anytime within the 2hr window that was paid for. They proceeded to call us back 3 times within to 10 minute window because their wires were getting crossed and wanted to be sure we know. I live at the condo at the end of the block so, for reference, we were not far. Our group walked over (we also purchased a medium room for a small group so, they were already getting more money from us than we needed to spend) and once we arrived our names weren't even on the list when the receptionist showed us the iPad. Within 10 minutes and multiple calls FROM them TO us, they gave the room to a walk in because they assumed we weren't coming. At check in, everyone was confused. The receptionist then told us it was our responsibility to tell them who we spoke to because there's multiple people working and they're not sure who called so they could rectify the issue with them. The manager came out eventually and was helpful as much as he could be and attempted to move us to a bigger room. The issue came in with the owner who refused to let us move without paying $100-200 more (the price is hard to pinpoint as it changed every time we asked more questions). They affirmed that it was not our fault but a staff miscommunication but still insisted we pay more. After we declined, said we would leave and asked for a refund back it got even more weird. They said they'd prefer for us to just reschedule but we declined given the confusion of today, so they agreed to refund the $100 deposit. After a conversation about how we weren't comfortable with that, they agreed to give us a room but we had to pay full price outright not including the deposit and they would refund the deposit within 3-5 business days versus applying it on the spot as they were supposed to do. Needless to say, that didn't sound right so we declined. After declining they began to offer another room at a time frame under the minimum at $160. We were on the fence , but less than 5 minutes later the manager came back out to say the owner said the new price would be $350 for 2hrs and that was a significant discount. If this makes no sense, neither did the night. So we left confused and karaokeless. Won't be back. read more
