I grabbed a quick dinner here and was favorably impressed compared to most airport food concessions. The bartender/waitress was very friendly and very candid when I asked about particular menu items. I chose the chicken caesar salad and it was made fresh. The chicken was warm and moist and the lettuce crispy, with a generous helping of shredded parmesan cheese. The oatmeal cookie for dessert was also yummy. Plus, there was an electric outlet under the counter so i could plug in my laptop to charge as i ate. Last Thursday evening, I stopped at the Live Oak Grille for food and a drink. My flight was rushing to board and I left in a hurry not realizing that I had left my laptop and notebook under the menu on the table. As the flight attendant was ready to close the door the gate agent brought my laptop and notebook to me. I cannot thank the kind bartender/server who found it and gave it to the gate agent. This was beyond excellent customer service! Thank you so much! And the salmon BLT sandwich that she recommended was great too! Ordered caprese bites. For the price it was totally disappointing. Some cherry tomatoes, described as grape tomatoes (which are sweeter than cherry), mozzarella balls, balsamic vinegar (not reduction, also sweeter), and sour oil. The downside of being in such a small airport, there are only two places to eat. I chose this one over the bakery because... well my boyfriend really wanted a burger. So the cashier is initially friendly and helps us pick our items, I order the Chicken Tender Basket with Fries, and he orders the Chipotle Burger w/o mayo, tomato and with Tater Tots w/Honey Mustard. He a fountain drink, me a Orange Pineapple smoothie. First thing, they don't call your name or even the order out, they place it on the counter and expect you to guess if it is yours it not. Now a line starts to form behind us, a small family and some employees. This is where it becomes good. I check his burger while he's in the restroom and notice there's Tomato and regular fries. No biggie, I have a severe tomato allergy but he doesn't. I just hand it back off to the guy manning the counter, and he just sighs heavily. Takes the box and walks to the back, immediately puts a disheveled burger and fresh tots into the box. We start eating, and I notice the woman behind the counter making drinks has made two smoothies ahead of mine. My boyfriend speaks up and asks if mine will be ready soon and she replies with "I've already handed it off. You must have missed it." Naturally, I'm a bit taken aback. "Maybe someone else grabbed it? I didn't hear it called." I replied. She glares at me, then starts to make the new smoothie. My boyfriend starts to enjoy his burger, then as he goes for a bite of tater tots, there's a whole strand of hair on it. He has purple hair, mine is green, this is a black hair. See photo for hair. He still hasn't received his drink. At this point, i'm completely fed up. I go to the counter and show the woman now manning the counter the hair, and request a refund. She doesn't say a word. Not a sorry, not an okay, not even a nod. Just takes it and walks to the back. I was eventually given a partial refund, but not before being glared at the entire time. This girl has the audacity to shake her head as I confirm I want a refund for both the drink and the burger. I ask "Hm?" and she says "Oh nothing." Yeah, sure. The Mac & Cheese was amazing. No, I'm not kidding. SERIOUSLY, the best mac & cheese I have had in over a year I am consuming right now at Live Oak Grille. In Tallahassee International Airport. What. Gives? I confirmed with two different employees that the mac & cheese is made from scratch in this restaurant. I wanted to know because if this was a frozen meal, I wanted to buy some for the few times I eat at home. This mac & cheese was just the right amount of ooey-gooey. Sometimes places make it too soupy and sometimes it's not cheesy enough and tastes almost dry. This was perfect. I also added bacon and there was enough but not an overwhelming amount of bacon. And the panko bread crumb topping was baked to perfection. NICE. All of this while sipping on a local IPA. Downsides? The mac & cheese by itself is $12 which I think is CRAZY. Mostly because the price for my beer was $11 and something just doesn't seem right there. The next time I come to TLH, I will be arriving early just to experience this mac & cheese one more time. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Waited over 15 minutes for some to show up and take my order. One guy in the kitchen never came out. Waitress finally showed up from down the hallway. Got my drink order in and that was about it-she wasn't going to ask if I wanted any food. I was starving but she was so nasty and rude to all the customers I was afraid to ask to order food. It's too bad being the only food place in this small airport they could make a fortune. Oh but they were having a good time in the kitchen by the sounds of it. Service is at an all time low here. ProbBly waited at least 25 minutes to get a Pepsi, still no service on allergies or food order. Well over an hour experience. They dont allow people ordering from the front of sitting at a table with one person working or hardly working the floor here. We walked in to grab a table and the waitress with glasses and dark hair(couldn't get her name) started Yelling that she was too busy for us and we needed to go to the bar across the hall. We then went across the way to the bar, and the bar staff was busy helping the waitress at the live oak. My husband walked back over to grab a menu and the waitress started YELLING AT HIM in front of everyone saying there were menus at the bar (mind you the bar hostess wasn't there mainly to help the grill waitress who clearly can't handle the load in the live oak) we only wanted to look at the menu for a minute and she continued to yell at him to put it back. So a nice older gentlemen went to give my husband an extra menu to borrow and the waitress started YELLING at that customer too , to not give it to us. It made a huge scene in front of everyone there. HORRIBLE customer service and overall manners. She should be embarrassed. The bar hostess came back over and was very nice and assisted us right away which is what got a star. after that whole scene, numerous customers were seated and assisted. read more

It would appear they were not prepared for a Friday rush. Although the server said flights are always delayed on Friday and I was just about to close the area you sat in. By the way this area stayed full the entire time I was there. Food was ok. Skimpy on the fries considering the price. Telling everyone 30minutes on food...kitchen backed up. Went to pay and then told 10 minutes or more for computer to reboot....it froze up. It would seem some attention from management or ownership might be in order. I hate flying, I love the Live Oak Grille! I always forget it's in Tallahassee's tiny, two gate airport so when I get there starving and sad that I have to sit on a plane for X amount of hours, it's always a pleasant surprise. The service is always very friendly; not super fast but not obscenely slow, and the food is really fresh and tasty. I've had their wraps, a quesadilla, fries, and their baked goods. All are very well made and fresh. The fries are quite possibly the best I've had. It's a bit pricey, which is to be expected at an airport, but impressive nonetheless. read more

This place sucks. I was waiting to board my plane and ordered a breakfast burrito. A half hour later no burrito, but I was treated to a ten-minute very loud diatribe by one of the restaurant workers about how difficult her job was. So, it was either miss my plane or wait for my food, and I chose to catch the plane. Awful experience, moronic staff, and I paid ten bucks for food I didn't get. Located in the Tallahassee airport, the Live Oak Grille was a huge surprise in a place where I'm not expecting a whole lot. With a few hours left before my flight I decided to go ahead and get some dinner before getting "hangry" and saying something stupid on the plane. I looked around the airport and the Live Oak Grille was a pretty attractive option. The service was friendly and fast. The food (I had a reuben) was tasty, filling, and reasonable (which means cheap for an airport!) They had a lot of options on the menu, I just went with my go-to comfort food. I'm glad I stopped there and if you're flying through the Tallahassee airport you should consider stopping there too. read more

When I asked the barkeep to change the channel to Fox (for some real news) she said it wasn't on the "allowed list" from the owner but did oblige in putting it on some golf for us. Showed up to the airport around 11am. Asked the kind waitress for a bagel. She told me a bagel is considered a breakfast item and it wasn't breakfast time. She said management was very strict about not ringing up breakfast items past 1030am. So even though they have bagels, and it doesn't require any cooking whatsoever, they refused to sell me one because it was past 1030am. Perhaps management could be a little bit more flexible for their customers. I understand not serving breakfast past a certain time, but refusing to sell customers an item that doesn't require any cooking or preparation is just bad customer service. read more

Waiting for our flight to Atlanta, and options are limited at this small airport, but my wife got me a BLT with avocado and egg, or more like an omelet, on top, served on whole wheat bread. The bacon was thick cut, not food service, probably local. The bread was also very good. The omelet could have easily been a centerpiece of a dish. Everything was prepared perfectly and the flavors went well together, with the Cole slaw side also being a nice addition, not just thrown in the dish. If the price were stiff, which my wife never said, we split the dish, as it was too much for me, and I was hungry. Expecting a fast food experience, it was just what I was looking for. read more
