He gave me good information (and yes, I did my research), and offered a reasonable price. Nice guy's too! I never felt pressured, or like he was trying to up sell me. I was sold on his integrity when, about 5 years ago he installed a new thermostat for me, and then offered to thoroughly check over our system while he was here, at no charge! Called Len and he did a video-call with me while I was at my heater unit to try to troubleshoot virtually. When no error lights came on, he decided to come by for more troubleshooting before ordering replacement components, which can't be returned. When he came and tested the heater and it worked when activated locally, we checked the smart thermostat I had added this year, and checking the settings, I had incorrectly set it up as a wrong type of heater (electric instead of gas), an expensive mistake. Len just charged me for the hour he was there, his current rate is now $125/hr. He now accepts Zelle through Chase. I have never posted a review for anything on any website but after this morning I felt that I need to say something about Len. A couple years ago the fan on my furnace stopped blowing. He came out, showed me that with age sometimes the fan just gets stuck. He spun it and it's been working ever since. Didn't charge me anything! This morning my air conditioner stopped working. I called him again and he walked me though a couple things to try. Turns out the furnace door had vibrated loose enough to keep the safety switch from being pushed in which prevents the system from coming on. Issue solved with a less then five minute phone call! Any other company would have come out, charged me a bunch and then tried to talk me into replacing things I don't need for big dollars. It's difficult to write this, considering the high regard other customers have for Len. But I'll stick to the facts. Our AC wasn't blowing cold air, and we have the fan unit on the roof, which is unusual. We called Len based on his Yelp reviews, and he came right out. He was hesitant to climb on the roof, but gave me some instructions of things to look for, and it turns out that wasn't the problem anyway, after he went up there himself, which I appreciated. We were out of coolant, and when he tried to add some, it leaked away. After investigating, he concluded that we needed new coils in the unit inside the house. The unit is somewhat old, so he said he would call around to various manufacturers. After spending about half a day with us on that initial visit, he charged us only $90, and seemed knowledgeable. We were pleased and impressed, and awaited his return. That became the problem. After two weeks, as the weather got hot, he did not contact us. I called him and left two messages to check on his progress, and did not get a response. Not able to wait longer, I found that one of my son's coaches has an HVAC company, and I asked him to come out. I'll review him elsewhere, but one thing he told me about Len was that he's a very nice guy, but they get a lot of follow-up calls after Len is unable to help someone. My new contractor took care of the problem promptly (it was not the coils) and we have blessed cool air again. read more

We didn't have much of a problem but it was fixed right away. A neighbor had complained about the noise our air conditioner made - it's a condo that we rent out. So we gave Len a call. He was out there the next day and on time. He checked out the unit and immediately figured that it was a capacitor. He pulled the capacitor, installed a new one and that was it. Problem solved! I'm glad to have found Len. I know people in the HVAC business. They're are a lot of good people in HVAC but there are a lot of scammers. It's a bit scary when you need to call someone new. Could not recommend Len at Livermore Air Conditioning more highly. Had an issue with my AC late in the day. Len talked me on the phone through some troubleshooting steps while traveling to some scheduled assignments. He was out first thing the next day and not only fixed the problem quickly but gave a very informative discussion of AC operation and maintenance. Thought I'd have to replace the entire AC unit and am highly pleased that is not the case. More importantly he gave me a much better understanding of the AC system as a whole. The patience and willingness to share information he displayed is rare and greatly appreciated. We had our heater stop working sometime during the day before and we didn't notice until it wouldn't turn on last night. By the next morning, it was so cold in the house, we were wearing sweaters and coats. We called on a Saturday morning and fortunately Len was available, but before he came out, he spent some time with me to diagnose the problem over the phone. When he got here, he did a nice job explaining his findings and related it back to what we discussed over the phone. This guy, Len, is incredibly honest. I've used him twice--once to fix our nonworking air conditioning, and another to fix our nonworking furnance. In the former case, he replaced a breaker on the outside compressor and only charged us a nominal fee. In the latter case, he tweaked a couple of things, got the furnace running, and didn't charge us a dime. And he also showed up on time both times. I spoke to him about a job and made an appointment with him a few days later and even gave me an approximate time that he expected to show up.
