Nothing fancy here and that is just fine. It's a waxing studio, not a spa. I prefer the quicker the better while ripping my hair follicles out. Jenny is priced right and even more important, she IS QUICK. The technique she uses also as far as the ripping out in the hair is very good. I typically don't write reviews, but thought I'd share my experience. Very fairly priced, but not the cleanest place. I got a Brazilian wax and I feel like the wax lady just wasn't very experienced. The wax was hot and the pulls were very painful. She went over the same areas multiple times, which resulted in bleeding and a bunch of scabs. I was in actually pain after I left. At the end, I had so much wax left on my skin. At checkout, she charged me more than the displayed price because she said I had a lot of hair. Also know that she will redeem Groupon before service starts, but will wait till you have taken off cloths to let you know something is not included she did try to get me to add a Brazilian to my service for an extra $20 but I declined after seeing the hygiene of the place. read more

Horrible experience. I made an appointment during my lunch break, took a cab there and back, to get eye lashes refilled and when i got there the lady told me i had to come back in 4 days when the woman who knows how to do that will be back. I won't be back! I came for a Brazilian wax, and she was rough as hell. She used one sheet of wax paper the whole time and only used another one because I asked her. She didn't try to cut the long hair with scissor, just waxing around and the wax was so fucking hot, i had pain when I left. I had to ask her to cool it off a little because it was just to much. I literally never write reviews, but this needed to be said. I got my lashes done and 1 they aren't individual lashes like advertised and two so much glue was used and not glued to the lashes but clumps of lashes on my skin. I tried to get ahold of them to get them removed and no answer. I went somewhere else to get them removed and was in tears because it was like concrete on my eyelids and the new place did there very best to soak the glue but a lot would budge. This place has horrible customer service. I bought a Groupon for eyelash extensions and I tried to make an appointment twice. Both times the customer service representative was rude, unprofessional, and not helpful. They did not set up my appointment, or ask for my name, but rather hung up and I had to call back. Terrible service. It was entirely too cold for someone to take off their clothes, and the quality of service was poor(lack of privacy). Not effective when it comes down to skin care. Asa is amazing! Just got a Brazilian and underarm wax with her. Took her 30 minutes! She started me as soon as I walked in! I had been struggling to find someone good and quick AND most important yielding the least amount of pain possible...let's face it getting a Brazilian wax is not my absolute favorite thing to do on a sunny Saturday morn! I have been going to this eyebrow place for almost 1.5 years. The lady who does my eyebrows (not sure what her name is) is consistent on doing my eyebrows properly. They also have a punch card so after the 10th time, I get 1 eyebrow threading for free. read more

If I could figure out how to give this place negative stars, I would do so. Had the absolutely worst experience. Went in for a bikini wax. The woman asked if I wanted a Brazilian. I said, "no," shook my head, and made a joke about being to old for that. I told her I just wanted her to " clean up the area a little bit." She proceeds to put extremely hot wax all over "the area." I scream, yes I screamed, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? ARE YOU GIVING ME A BRAZILIAN? I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T WANT THAT!!! But because she couldn't undo it, it's what I got - in addition to welts, because of the extremely hot wax and her carelessness. Like another reviewer, I feel violated and manhandled. She was unapologetic, rough and careless. She got wax in areas where there was nothing to wax. I left shaken and in tears. 10 hours later I am still in pain and have scheduled a Dr's appointment because I am seriously concerned about the damage she may have caused. DO NOT GO THERE. There have got to be other places where you are treated with more care and respect. BEST PLACE in the city to get your eyebrows threaded!! No doubt. The ladies here do a great job every singe time! I was introduced to this HIDDEN GEM about 3years ago. I loved it but wanted a place closer to where I lived (Lincoln park). I tried different places around the city and decided about a year ago that Living Doll is the BEST in the city! Good customer service but the eyelash extensions are not individual as you would expect. They're clustered eyelashes and are applied to more than one of your own lashes -- not good for your natural lashes. Additionally, I woke up this morning less than 48 hours after I've gotten them done and some have already come off. As they're clumps, I now have missing patches in my eyelash extensions which kind of defeats the point of getting them done so I wouldn't have to wear makeup on my honeymoon. read more

Zoya did my lashes and they were absolutely beautiful. She did a great job and i will go back for a refill in two weeks. Took a star off because parking was complicated. I typically get individual mink lashes; however, that was not included on the groupon i bought. Though, the lashes are individual lashes that are packed in sets of 4-5. Don't go here when the younger girl is working. I give this place two stars only because the lady who owns the place does a good job for the price but her assistant (younger girl) when she is not there is terrible. I mean terrible. Not only is she rude and unprofessional, she pretty much sucks at threading. While she is talking to her friends she manages to over thread your eyebrows and miss chunks since she is too busy doing other things besides her job. I have been going to this place ever since it started and the lady is very sweet and takes interest and time to do the brows. Wax service was great and quick. I believe the owner is who helped me. (Older lady) I went in with a Groupon for a Brazilian. Made an appointment but had to wait a bit. I was asked to pull up voucher without even starting any service or let alone waiting after the service was done. Had to wait on the waxing table uncovered mind you it's two rooms in one and only separated by a curtain no door. That was just a bit odd no legit privacy. Anyways got the Brazilian done in under 20 minutes. Before she started she asked again for the Groupon voucher once it was claimed she began waxing. I just found that oddly weird but ok everyone has their ways about customer service and handling their job/business. Also had my face waxed that was pretty quick and came out good. It does get crowded from my time there I saw a few female clients walk in. For one person, pretty busy. Owner knows how to handle things. She didn't seem to rushed with me even though people were waiting on her. She remained calmed and greeted the clients. Prices are outside on the window nothing is displayed inside. There is a dollar fee charge for using debit/credit. Other than that just an average cheap threading salon. OK. Ill start by saying this is my first Yelp review ever. I never write them, but I don't want anyone to end up with eyebrows like mine. This was my first time at this salon. I usually go a bit down the road to a different place to get my eyebrows threaded but it was packed so I figured I would give Living Doll a shot. My eyebrows needed to be threaded badly, there was a lot to work with. When I walked in with my friend the girl was sitting near the back, didn't greet us & rudely asked what we wanted. Prior to starting I told her that I do NOT like my eyebrows thin; I made sure to emphasize that. The entire time she was threading I was thinking about how she smelled like smoke and wondering what type of thread she was using. I have been threading my eyebrows and face for almost seven years now and I have never heard the sound the thread made until now. And it burned a bit on my eyelids. I thought maybe it was a new type of thread that had some sort of benefit. I actually thought this may be the new place I go to get threaded. Then when she finished I looked in the mirror.... I wanted to cry. Before looking up close I could see right away that the ends (after the arch) were extremely thin. LIKE really thin, which was surprising because of how much hair was there before. Then I went checked up close and realized there are CHUNKS missing out of my eyebrows. The edge of my eyebrow looks like a squiggly line. When I addressed the issue she literally said nothing. Which as much as I was annoyed that she didn't acknowledge my frustration, I was happy she didn't offer to try to "fix them". I wish I had read the reviews prior to letting this girl thread my eyebrows. I have had some bad threading jobs, but this by far is the worst.
