I found this place back in 2007 when I was a senior in high school and moved in with my sister in Eureka. I passed it every morning on my way to the bus stop and most mornings I'd stop for a cookie and a cup of coffee. I was always greeted with a smile and they talked to me like a person--not like a "delinquent" which is how many similar places treated me just for being a teenager. I moved away after high school and now make frequent trips back to Eureka (monthly at least) and I make sure to stop in for a treat whenever I can. This little bakery delivered on the holiday sweet treats! Cherry Blossom has been around for a while and continues to produce nice bakery goods day after day. A recent stop in for some holiday cookies did not disappoint. Traditional sugar cookies, butter cookies, fruit gingersnaps and coconut snowballs were all to be had in the day of my visit, so I opted for a couple of each to try them all. The gingersnaps were a true flashback to my childhood rememberance and just exactly as I was expecting them to be in both taste and texture. My only regret, not getting more. The sugar cookies and butter cookies, in all of its many forms and styles, each full flavored and true old school holiday cookie styles. I tired several variations that were available that day and each was good. Then the snowballs... a traditional chocolate cake ball, wrapped in coconut cream frosting, these things are amazing! Better than store bought by a mile, rich chocolate cake surrounded by creamy shredded coconut frosty. So rich in fact, I clould not eat one in a single sitting. Cherry Blossom is absolutely, hands down, my FAVORITE bakery of all time! Have been getting treats here for as long as I remember since childhood. All the negative comments saying it's "just a mom and pop" and "old-fashioned" is EXACTLY why I love Cherry Blossom! Why would one want to go to a corporate, cold bakery in the first place? I absolutely despise cakes from Ramone's and the Co-op; they may look pretty, but they're also bone dry and dense, more bread/muffin like than real cake, with ick "healthy" tasting frosting. Service review. My wife came in with my 4 year-old daughter who was having a bathroom emergency. She bought something and asked if my daughter who was doing the potty dance could use the restroom. The man working the counter told my wife that there was no bathroom. I am assuming that he meant no public restroom because there's no way that employees work there all day without a restroom. Anyway, while I can respect that as a general standard, you have to be pretty heartless to deny a child access to a toilet in an emergency. read more

The service was good, but two things: I ordered a customized 8" layer cake and while the cake itself was tasty, the chocolate frosting was absolutely tasteless. Certainly no chocolate flavor could be detected. Secondly, at $48, overpriced. There was only a simple drawing on the cake with little wording. Don't think I'll return. I had a recommendation to come here for their pink champagne cake, so of course I went to try one of their petite versions. When I walked in I noticed that the place was just a mom/pop type of place, which I can appreciate. In my past experiences, these types of shops have the best of whatever they make in the area, so I was quite eager to take my goodies home. I ordered a petite pink champagne cake, a creme brulee, a cream puff and a lemon cookie. I walked out having spent about $12. When I finally got home to try a bite of everything, I was quite surprised: Pink Champagne Cake- Was VERY dry and the frosting was so dry it started breaking and cracking off. Creme Brulee- Was watery and tasted like solidified milk (cheese like) The sweetness and silky consistency one would expect was lacking. Cream Puff- When I purchased it she told me that I should wait 10 minutes before eating because they are still frozen. Yup, frozen. Which tells me that they are not made fresh and may not be made by them at all! I saved the cream puff for last, so about 25 minutes after I purchased it, it was still very frozen. The cream had formed ice crystals within itself, and the puff was sopping wet from it being frozen. The cream also took on some sort of flavor i couldn't figure out, like when you put it next to something in the freezer while uncovered. Lemon Cookie- was very out of the box ordinary. Nothing special. and quite expensive for what you get. It was like $0.75 for one little cookie. To sum it up, this place is horrible and I would never return here again, If I could give it zero stars I would. My one star is undeserved. Rant over. Not good. No bueno. Gross! I relied on Yelp to find a bakery for a graduation cake since I am from out of town. I was led astray! I ordered a red velvet cake via email. The design came out cute (I sent them an inspiration pic), but the cake itself was gross. The red velvet was a neon-ish shade and the cream cheese frosting tasted artificial, like it was from a can and not made fresh or something. The cake was also wet tasting. Not moist, WET. i bought a cake here... once... and that was the last time for me! The cake wasn't pretty or even decorated as I asked and it tasted horrible! I didn't think you could mess up a pink champaign cake that badly but they managed it. The cake itself was dry and tasteless and the frosting that they used was oily and left a gross taste in you're mouth. I live in a house with three men (my dad, brother and uncle) and you never throw goodies away... but needless to say over half this cake found it's way into our garbage disposal... and that's saying something... Great bakery. Loved the carrot cake cupcakes. They have a great selection of items. Donuts, pastries, cupcakes, cakes. Lots to choose from daily. I bought a cake for my daughter's birthday. But i wasn't super excited about it. It was moist but didn't have a lot of filling to break up the thick cake. I'm sure it was just that cake. The frosting on the outside was also just the sugar type you get from Safeway. I do know if you have a custom made cake you can request your favorite icing and filling. My Girlfriend ordered her wedding cake from this place and asked for a 3 tier wedding cake with pink and white roses. She said she wanted it to be simple and elegant. The text I received from her the day before the wedding when she picked up her Cake was a Picture of the 2 tier'd "BIRTHDAY" cake. Not wedding cake. Not Pretty. Not 3 tier'd. IT WAS AWFUL!!!!!! I told her not to worry that I would fix it with real flowers the way it should have been done the first time. This place is a joke of a place for wedding cakes.
