    Fake friend chicken...
    Jade L.

I bought a chef salad with fried chicken and all of the fried chicken was breading only with no meat. It was so disappointing to think you're eating chicken and only taste breading and bones. I called and they said that it's normally like that and they suggest to get fried strips instead. Seems like it should be be a given if it's known that that can't achieve the appropriate salad on request. I was in the drive through All the "friend chicken" bits is in the picture is what was on the entire salad, it was breading and no meat.

I found plastic wrap in my collards. I was hoping for a full refund but was unable to get all the food back to them.

    Cold food smothered in gravy.

Food was cold, looked like something out of a horror movie. Taste was passable, but looked like something else if you catch my drift. Service was ok and fast, probably because they bulk cooked these things and put them on plates before hand. Skip this place and go to Cracker Barrel instead. Your stomach will thank you. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to use the bathroom

"Purty" good meal at a decent price. I had the baked chicken, rice with gravy, and baby limas, so good, so good. Saving the pecan pie for later. Yummelicious. Will definitely be back before leaving town. Sa

Came in about 10am today ( Wednesday, June 12, 2019) and it's a seat yourself place. Apparently popular with the older locals as a go to hang out eatery. Wife and I were looking for greasy spoon breakfast joint and this one fits well. I had the 2 eggs, sausage links, grits and toast. Wife had a chicken biscuit. Food was marginal at best; chicken on biscuit was undercooked; grits were thick but tasteless, eggs were too runny for over medium as requested, I asked for toast no butter, they were buttered. They don't serve ham. Staff was very friendly and place appeared clean. 5 star for staff, 1 star for food. Probably a hit or miss place, at best.

Small plate or fried flounder. Squash casserole. And cabbage

Lizards thicket is a Columbia chain restaurant that offers "home style cooking" at an affordable price. Standard menu item is one meat and 3 vegetables for 9.19, however they have other menu items including salads and also breakfast as well. If you are craving this type of food, it is normally pretty good. Usually have some issues with consistency at times and different restaurants seem like they may no It exactly follow the same recipe but I do enjoy eating here. I dined in, they did have dining, social distancing. The waiters are normally pretty friendly and food comes out fast. I would recommend if you want casual dining

I had the falafel gyro with fries and a pomegranate soda. I will not have that again though I have searched some of my local markets for the pomegranate soda. Everything was dry and lacked flavor. While the falafel were piping hot, there was no flavor at all. There was just a sheer smear of hummus, one piece of iceberg lettuce and one tomato cut in half along with two or three cut falafel. No red onion or tzatziki sauce which is what made this so dry. The fries were hot though dry (not sure how that happens) and they had OLD BAY sprinkled on them when he asked if I wanted salt, not old bay. The service was prompt and quiet, no engagement which is typical for a bodega. The seating was standard and clean. I was just disappointed in the meal I chose.

I figured this must be a nice restaurant with sit down tables and decent lighting. However, after opening the door it basically looked like a fast food, order at the counter restaurant, with about 6 tables or so with around 6-7 small chairs around each table. There was one person waiting outside and inside there was one person sitting at a table eating. There was one person cooking and nobody to take orders. We stood there and watched him cook for about 3-4 minutes without him acknowledging our presence. Finally he finished cooking, wrapped it up and gave it to the guy waiting. He took our orders one by one and while he was taking the third order a guy came out to do the cooking. This was about 11:20AM. Three of us ordered Lamb Gyros with fries. We had one order for a hamburber, a chicken gyro with fries, two combination paninis and one other chicken sandwich. The three lamb gyros came out first. They were very tightly wrapped in a thin paper and then with aluminum foil. The lamb was good but getting the wrapping paper off was a mess. Very messy to eat (but hey, it's a gyro) but the taste was good. The chicken sandwich came out around 35 minutes after ordering. The hamburger was out at about 30 minutes. It didn't look like much and the bun was like something you'd buy off the shelf at Walmart or local grocery store...nothing special, just a normal ordinary hamburger bun. It was rated as a 2.0 by the guy that ordered it. The fries were good, again nothing special but there were quite a bit with the orders. We weren't very impressed with the restaurant as far as friendliness or ambiance. Our average overall rating for it was a 2.87 so we probably won't make this one of our favorites of the 179 restaurants we've eaten at in the Cola area.

There is even a location next to my work in Sumter I tend to go often with co-workers. I usually go with the classic sandwiches - my personal favorite is the McAlister's Club. The turkey, ham, bacon, and cheese, and the toasted bread has always been the best combination for my taste buds. My family members mentioned the Reuben is another solid choice here. Beyond the sandwiches, I like the variety on the menu. They have salads, soups, and even loaded baked potatoes along with a decent selection of sides, from potato salad to fruit (my typical choice). The service at this McAlister's is generally pretty good through the different locations I've dined at. The staff is usually friendly and efficient, even during peak hours. The Elgin restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, with a casual and comfortable atmosphere. I've never had a bad experience with the food or the service at least for the Elgin and Sumter locations. For a family friendly deli experience married with a consistent and reliable choice for a quick and tasty meal, Elgin McAlister's is definitely a winner in my book. I'd give this place a solid 4 of 5 stars!
