Disappointed with a recent batch labeled best by 9/28/26. I'm not sure if it's a change in meat source or a dehydration issue, but this particular batch was tough as leather. I literally was chewing until my jaw muscles ached, it was tough! Usually it's very crispy and easy to eat, my go to quick jerky snack whenever I do grocery shopping at one of the Asian supermarkets. It was always a nice treat to get, but this batch was a disappointment. Will try again next time, if it's bad again I would think their quality went downhill. read more

I haven't had this in quite some time. Can't find time to drive to Sacktown for this so ordered online, but this jerky is not worth missing out on, must be tried at least once. I can safely say it's the best I've had in my life. Closest second was Yosemite's hot teriyaki flavor, but a far 2nd. Don't expect healthy, it's not without alot of fat, msg, heat and sugar; but you cannot compare the flavor, texture or anything else about it to another jerky with a sane face. Expect crispy meat and fat jerky pieces flavored to perfection and a bit of grease in that crunch. They do not waste the fat and I truly appreciate this. Definitely not as healthy but also doesn't waste so much of the animal only to make a slightly healthier product. It's a treat, not an everyday eat, though you'll wish you could. Favorite by far is the Original Hot (miss the extra hot), and the original garlic for a first try was surprisingly good (garlic lovers only). I wanted something spicy, slightly sweet, and crispy to where it would flake/break off and easy to chew for my sensitive teeth and this jerky is perfect! This is my first time purchasing online from LJ's and it took about a week for my jerky to arrive in the mail (I also received an email of the USPS tracking number once it was shipped - about 3 to 4 business days). I'm very happy with the quality and taste of the jerky and will definitely be ordering again when I run out. I'm just a little sad that even though I'm also in Sacramento, the shipping costs $8.50, which costs more than one 2.5oz packet of jerky. I found an asian market called SF Supermarket, and I saw this jerky being sold at the registers. I wasn't even going to buy it but I told myself, you know, I don't come out here often. Last chance to try something new, so I bought it. I didn't even realize that I bought HOT. After I opened it and felt the jerky in my hands I knew this was going to be the one I was searching for. Known the owners for a long time since they first started selling. The price has definitely gotten steeper since the business began because it's so dang good but overall you can't find better jerky than this. I recommend the spicy beef jerky. If you can't take spice their teriyaki is pretty bomb too if they still sell it. Many Asian stores sell this and they are restocked on certain days so best to ask the workers when they get restocks for fresher jerky. Sucks that the bags the jerky comes in is so small. They used to sell huge bags about 1-2 pounds of jerky but I never see that anymore sadly. read more

My little sister first introduced me to this beef jerky brand. They have an original kind and a HOT kind. The bf recently picked some up at the SF Supermarket in Sacramento (free parking lot with other businesses). Not sure where else they sell it. Not gonna lie... the jerky is pricey ($6.50/pack) and probably not good for you but it tastes delicious! It's savory, spicy and also caramelized. There are some fatty parts but they taste good too. My all time favorite beef jerky. This is a must when I'm in the sac area visiting friends or family. I'll usually go to one of the local Asian stores to stock up. My brother and his wife will go to multiple shops and buy their whole stock. Its a little pricier than your normal beef jerky, but so worth the splurge. For those not in the area, lucky you, you can order online! I don't eat it often enough to taste a difference when buying it in person vs online because its good to me either way. Jerry is pretty good about keeping you updated on your order too. Get the spicy. It has a kick with the chili flakes dried on it. The original is good, but once you've tried it spicy, it feels like there's something missing. It's salty, sweet, spicy, smoky, crispy, chewy, and fatty satisfying all my cravings at once. It's not your topical convenient store, located in the hood, in a complex house to be exact, it's kind of an iffy neighborhood, but it's so worth taking the drive. They have candies, sodas, and pickles with pepper sauce for sale! But everyone goes for the beef jerky! If you don't want to go to the house, they also have their beef jerky for sale at other stores, such as T&Y Market and Pathong Market. I've been eating LJ beef jerky for a long time, since moving away from Sacramento to the Bay Area, I always stop by SF market on meadow view to buy 5-6 bags. As another reviewer said the online order can be hit and miss, the last batch online I had 4/5 bags or so were stale tasting and didn't have that slight crunch you get when you order it stores.
