TL;DR: My new favorite coffee shop to work at in DC--great ambiance, delicious food, and drinks! I visited on a Sunday to get some work done and had an amazing experience. We tried a latte, cold brew, tuna salad sandwich, and a banana bowl, and everything tasted fantastic! The general manager/executive chef was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Love the vibes here at Llama Bar. I've tried their cookie butter latte and their banana cream matcha latte. Both had the right about of sweetness. It's very cute and cozy in here but also provides the right amount of space. I've also had their cocktails I can't remember the name of the tequila cocktail it had some sort of vanilla liqueur, which I wasn't sure how that would taste but surprisingly it worked! I also had their espresso martini which I thought was pretty basic and standard. Not bad, if you enjoy espresso martinis you'll enjoy this however I did think as a coffee shot they would perhaps put a unique spin on it. Came on a Saturday, it was like an edm concert in there and my food took about 4 business days to get to my table and they forgot all of the add ons. This place has gone extremely down hill over the past few months. If you're expecting to have a relaxing brunch with good service please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Chef Justin shared that the most popular dish is the chopped cheese, so of course I ordered it. My God. The beef was seasoned like none other. The bread was perfectly fresh and toasted. He brought us some samples of the cream of crab soup and lawd I was so full from the chopped cheese, I couldn't finish the sample. But when I heated it up when I got home I was mad I didn't order a full cup to go. Chef Justin was super helpful. I've been here twice now! I've gotten the llama latte and a regular caramel hot latte! The llama latte is DIVINE! It's literally the perfect drink for fall/winter and warms you right up and you just can't go wrong with a hot caramel latte. The ambiance of this place and the styling is SO CUTE! If you are someone that works from a laptop they have the perfect layout to not be so much in the action if that's what you prefer. The pricing is normal for DC and I haven't tried the food yet but it smells so good every time I go in there I know it's only a matter of time before I try it! Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday. I liked that the space was light and airy. There were quite a few tables and we were able to snag a table for two. There were some larger tables, sofa seating, and this interesting floor seating with little straw cushions. You order at the counter and the people there were very helpful. You can get all coffee drinks in decaf which made me happy! I got their house latte that was wonderful! It even came with a pink top and little heart stopper for the spout . I got their big breakfast that included eggs (mine were scrambled, sausage, bacon, home fries, and toast. I loved every morsel. Eggs were flavorful and not overcooked; home fries were perfectly seasoned; sausage was tasty; bacon cooked perfectly; toast was toasted just enough and the bread was multi grain and thick. Only problem, they didn't butter it when it was warm. I like the butter to melt in. I had to ask for butter which they brought to the table. Still delicious! My husband got the breakfast sandwich. He said he wanted a second it was so good. Two gripes-very cow SUV's for breakfast and the bathroom was pretty dirty. I still plan to go back when in the area. read more

This cafe is very bright and airy. It's a nice size and the interior design is very clean and photo worthy. This was an impromptu stop in for me. I ordered take out. I started with a warm chai latte w/ almond milk and vanilla. The person taking my order was nice and had a cool, calm, collective demeanor. She complimented my coat and made my chai latte right away. I also ordered a Buddha bowl. I took a number and sat at the bar until my order was ready. The cafe wasn't overcrowded but there were quite a few people there compared to the number of staff. It took 20mins for my bowl to come out and when it did, it wasn't carry out. That was fine, I had already decided I would just hang around and eat there since it was pretty chill inside. The food was really good. The wait was the only con really but I want try this spot again. I'm sure they were low on staff the day I went. The coffee from this place is outstanding! If you love a broken sugar shaken espresso from Starbucks this is by far better. Definitely more pricey than Starbucks but worth it! Also tried the kale smoothie which was thick and delicious. Great new spot in Navy Yard! read more

The place was fairly empty when we walked in for breakfast, so it was easy to order at the counter and find a seat. The tables were almost all only big enough for 2 & the two larger tables were taken, so the 3 of us sat at a lounge area with a table that was technically too low for eating. I would have put two of the 2- person tables together, but the way they the room is arranged made this less easy than it should be. We ordered 3 different things for breakfast and the portions were generous. However, there was so much salt in my scramble I couldn't eat it... and I like my food heavily seasoned. Maybe it was an accident but it was bad. The coffee wasn't as hot as I'd like it either. There was no half n half for coffee so the staff brought us heavy Creme from the kitchen fridge, which made the coffee even colder. My son had Avocado toast and liked it, the potatoes that came with my scramble were good, and my husband said the spicy Turkey sandwich he ordered was fairly good. The staff were all very nice and if it hadn't had so much salt, the scramble would have been really good. Still, I don't think I'd go there again. Between the lack of booths, the poor set up and not quite warm enough coffee and a ruined scramble, it was a disappointment. read more
