Want to go to a no thrills place for good home cooked food, this is the place. My wife and myself came here for breakfast a few months ago and it was great. We came tonight to try out dinner and it was awesome. Our server Grace assisted us on both visits and she is really on top of everything. Our drinks never ran dry and as far as bringing out the food, it was well timed. Most places use instant mashed potatoes, this place uses real potatoes. Our food was good comfort food that reminded us of home. Do not judge the book by its cover as of you do, out will miss out. read more

I've been to Llanerch before. It's always the same deal. Bad service, ok food, not a nice atmosphere. There is only one thing I have enjoyed consistently and it is the regular eggs benedict and even that isn't that great. I decided to give it another shot and bring my two friends there. We went around 10pm and had to wait almost 30 minutes before someone even came over to our table. When he came over we all ordered. My friend Danny and I both ordered wraps chicken Cesar wraps. Which on the menu states we get soup with the meal. He didn't ask us which soups we wanted so I told him I wanted the French onion. He didn't ask Danny what soup he wanted. My friend Shelby ordered sweet potato fries. When we finally got our meals, Danny and I both agreed that the chicken tasted like fish which completely turned me off to it. Shelby said her fries were ok. I thought my soup was mediocre. Overall, not the best experience and probably won't be returning to Llanerch very soon. read more

Diners are everywhere on the East coast and they are better than any diner I've found thus far in CO. Llanerch is located a mile from my old house in PA and was the destination of many nights out with family and friends. It's a 24 hour diner with a small book as a menu, serving breakfast all day, overly friendly servers, and was highlighted in the recent movie, Silver Linings Playbook (must watch if you haven't already). Llanerch is a local neighborhood hot spot and is bustling in the morning serving breakfast and hot coffee to everyone that passes through. Need a 2am burger, can't sleep, want an omelet, Llanerch will satisfy all your cravings. The food is classic diner fair, nothing extravagant or mind altering. They have a little bit of everything, eggs, pancakes, club sandwiches, pasta, burgers, and so much more. You can easily eat here for under $12 and leave with a box of leftovers. Visiting Llanerch on my most recent trip back to PA was like a trip down memory lane and my turkey club sandwich hit a spot I didn't even know I had. The Llanerch Diner has been in business for a long time. I can remember going there as a young child for Sunday dinner with my parents. Having so many good memories makes it very difficult to write this review. We were not impressed. Headed to Llanerch for Sunday breakfast. The business has clearly changed hands and the new ownership has done a lot to clean and brighten this old diner girl. The new "tin" ceiling is nice and the diner is much cleaner than it's been in previous years. Six of us were seated promptly. Our server also arrived promptly and cheerfully took both our drink & breakfast orders, no problem. The good: Service, cleanliness. Frozen Hot Chocolate is pretty darn yummy. Chocolate Chip Pancakes got eager thumbs up from the kids. The "meh": Belgian Waffle was decent as was the pork roll. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. Bacon was inconsistently cooked - one serving was crispy and the other barely-done chewy. The bad: Wallpaper paste chipped beef - Darling Husband actually lifted out a glob of flour. You have to STIR the cream, folks. Also missing that savory taste that makes SOS delicious. Oatmeal was very thick and served without milk. Good for a facial, not so good for breakfast. The ugly: Crashing plates behind us as the next table was cleared actually stopped conversation it was so loud. No surprise that pretty much all their plates and cups are chipped, huh? I think their busboy has anger issues. Lastly, it's on the pricey side for diner food. They have a sign that advertises "Free WiFi" but their network was secured and we could not find a password anywhere to log on. Not sure what the deal was there. I am glad to see this old girl getting some care and maybe it's just that breakfast isn't their strong suit. We might give dinner a go sometime to see how it compares. One time a friend of mine ordered a cup of lemonade here. he ended up hating it so much that he threw it against the wall outside. due to some unknown phenomena, the cup and it's contents managed to be so congealed and syrupy that it's actually remained stuck to the wall for over 3 months. literally, my friends and I were so transfixed (and suburbia was so boring) that we came here all summer long to keep track of it. But this place is the way your run of the mill traditional diner should be. greasy food that is either average or below, bottomless cups of coffee, odd late night regulars, and really good pie. in short it's the best place for memories that should only be experienced long past 2 AM. read more

I've decided to update my review of this place now that it has gone Hollywood. But the one thing I've noticed since my last review here two years ago is the lack of consistency in the reviews here since then. Man, some of you really bashed this place! I was stunned, honestly. But maybe some of you have a point. If there's one thing I've learned about diners is that they're hard to really pin down on quality. In general, because most of them turn over staff so much, and because they have so many dishes on the menu, and because they have to staff their place for so many hours, it's just hard to know what you're going to get. I could have had a great experience there at 10am on a Sunday, raved about it to you, and you go there at 6pm on Thursday when it has completely different people working the place, and then it sucks. Diners do that to you. All I can tell you is what I can tell you. And what I can tell you is that personally, the Llanerch Diner has never let me down. For instance, today at 3pm at the counter, I had excellent waitress service. I had a cup of chicken soup with large chunks of chicken in it. I had a pretty fresh cup of coffee. I had a turkey special on rye where the bread was soft, the turkey was fresh and plentiful, and the Russian Dressing was tangy. Total bill was $9.90. I left pretty happy. It has made me happy every time I've been there. And I can't say that about every diner I've been to, even some of my favorite ones. Sure, maybe some of the menu items are a couple bucks more expensive than other places of similar ilk. Some aren't too bad. Depending on what you order, your experience may vary. I find that breakfast is most consistent here. Oh, by the way, now that it has been featured in the movie Silver Linings Playbook, they've decided to take advantage of that. Yes, on top of being able to sit at the booth that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence sat at, you may now buy your own Llanerch Diner mug with the Silver Linings Playbook logo on it at the counter (the display is positioned conveniently right across from that booth). I don't know what these negative reviews are about. It's a diner-- were you expecting Stephen Starr or something? I'm giving this diner 4 stars, which is honestly the highest rating I can give a diner, because YES, it is still diner food. However, this place delivers: My boyfriend and I go here only for a dirty diner breakfast and that classic dirty diner coffee and that's exactly what we are given. I can see why they chose this place to film the scene in Silver Linings Playbook; this diner just embodies the perfect mediocre, small town, not-overdone diner feel (even if the movie promotion there is a bit much.) That's the beauty of diners. That's why we love going here and that's what keeps bringing us back. Was a little skeptical after reading some of the reviews but this used to be an old haunt of my husband so we stopped. It wasnt very crowded and our waitress was attentive. We both ordered meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I got french o onion soup which was very hot and tasty. The chicken rice soup was good also. This is your average diner. The food was ok but it was nothing out of this world good. I came here after being out late at the local bars. I got french onion soup which seemed really watered down since the color of the soup itself was a kind of gray color. I then got eggs benedict. It was okay but the hollandaise sauce didnt taste like hollandaise. It was pretty bland. Being that this place is open 24 hours its super convenient but I wouldnt come here for a meal during normal day time hours. read more

This over-half-a-century-old diner has some interesting history. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. came here for dinner one evening after a service at Garrettford Baptist Church, his first meal in an all-white diner. A scene from the movie "Silver Linings Playbook" was also shot at this location. You can sit in the booth in which Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper sat if available.This diner often finds its way onto those Philadelphia-area, must-try lists. It's always interesting to know the background of a business. I've been here a handful of times over the last ten years or so, and I would characterize the food as A-OK, 3 out of 5 stars with consistent taste and plentiful portions. The ambiance to me wavers from 2 to 3 stars depending on the amount of customers and where you sit in the restaurant. For example, Sunday mornings can be crowded and sitting toward the back in the two-person booths is cramped to put it politely, and the waitstaff is sometimes stretched thin; whereas, an early weekday morning sitting in the four-person booths is less cramped with better service. That's been my experience. The price is a little high. The place recently started serving alcohol if that's your thing. I come here maybe once or twice a year at most. While I am not a huge fan, I can definitely say that there is a devoted local following for Llanerch who will probably keep it in business for another 50 years. read more

The Llanerch Diner is a great place to go any time of day. They're open 24 hours, like most good diners. My favorite is the open faced reuben. Probably the best reuben I've ever had. They also have a great selection of pies and cakes. You must try the half-cheesecake, half- chocolate mousse cake, you won't be disappointed. Came here for a late breakfast and only then realized a movie was filmed here. We were in the area and decided to grab diner food and came upon this place. Someone we were with saw the movie, Silver Linings Playbook and knew this was the diner they filmed in (I haven't seen the movie yet), so I guess that was an added novelty. The parking lot is a bit of a pain in the front and the place is not overly large, but when we got inside we were comfortable. The menu was diner standard and I ordered the 'Hungry Man Breakfast', which was basically a sampling of pancakes, home fries, toast, eggs, and sausage (or bacon). While waiting, we noticed that they did sell Silver Linings Playbook merchandise....which included a mug, mini-football, and t-shirt (which was one of the waitresses was wearing. Can't blame the place for trying to make a little money from the small fame they had and the display was pretty prominent. The waitresses were pretty friendly and the food was a little above average as far as diner food goes (most diners taste the same) and the pricing was just about standard for a diner, so no surprises for the visit. Overall, with or without the movie part, this is a cozy place to have a meal and feel comfortable. If you frequent diners, the experience here will be the norm and the food with taste about how you expect it should or would, though I have been to worse diners certainly. If you're a movie buff, certainly this is a place you should stop by if you happen to be in the area. read more

Wow, how the mighty have fallen! If it were not for the genuinely pleasant waitress, the place would have been a total bomb. Well, the "cheese" had brown edges, sticking out of the edges of the omelet, unmelted. Brown cheese? How old was the cheese? and the eggs themselves, flat and unappealing. A barely warm flat omelet. Potatoes? Ummmmmmm, reheated many many times. Lacking in flavor. They tasted off, actually. Like the eggs, barely warm. I'd not be surprised to learn uneaten potatoes are "recycled". The toast, likewise barely toasted. Coming out of there, my lips were tingling, fighting various bacterias picked up from improper handling of food by improperly-washed hands. I thought the place was closed, since the lot is usually empty. It's been several YEARS since I was here. And until I see a packed parking lot, I'll not be back. Stopped here with friends to grab a quick bite to eat. The waiter sat us right away and got our drinks. She took our order and one of us couldn't decide and she was getting a little annoyed and then after taking a order she forgot one of our soups. The food came out and it was not to our expectations. Ahhh, it had been something like 13 years, but pulling into the micro-lot at the Big L was like coming home. To a house where they got a giant flashing message lsd sign to welcome you and let you know they picked up some beer... (***edit-- i caught the the typo-- lsd/led-- but i think it's actually more descriptive this way***) It's taken me some time to write this review (as one particular yelper will know), because it took me some time to digest my experience. The Llanerch was diner-perfection, as always (and oh, how happy I am to see that some things really never do change). The bump in the road of our happy dining experience came when my co-diner took a 45 minute nap in the parking lot before we could go in to eat (i read every single story on espn mobile. no lie. every one. i was even quizzing myself and looking up stats to test myself by the end, there). Then, we walked in, were immediately and cheerfully seated, whisked over two icy glasses of water and a couple of menus, and left to ruminate on our dining pleasure. It is precisely at this point that my co-diner turned to her right, (i'm assuming so that the genteel older ladies taking advantage of the fabulous, home-style lunch/dinner specials could have a better view), and proceeded to spew vomit profusely all over the floor and the edge of our booth. I immediately jumped up and got a bucket from the distressed and extremely helpful busgirl, and after a few excruciating minutes (in reality probably only 45 seconds or so, but oh, so very long), my friend was empty and the lovely busgirl came back with a mop and a few towels and we cleaned it up. Why i LOVE the Llanerch and always will: after a decent interval to allow my friend time to compose herself, the waitress approached to see if we were going or staying. when my friend ordered what was essentially a hungry man's special, she didn't bat an eye (or drop any funny/sarcastic/veiled comment-- commendable). The Llanerch is a stalwart for a reason-- quality service and quality food (and breakfast 24 hours a day!). I will always love the Big L, and will cherish my journeys in that direction for the opportunities they afford to drop back in and reminisce over those hazy days on hawk hill... n.b. - i include such a personal anecdote in the review because i think it speaks to both the quality of the service AND (perhaps more importantly) what you should potentially be prepared for when you go there (and this was at 2:00 in the afternoon, by the way)... read more

Visited: Thursday - June 4, 2015 - 9:30PM This is a 24/7 diner and MOST of the desserts on the menu were unavailable. I settled for one of the two desserts remaining; Cherry pie. The pie and the coffee however, were good. The server was pleasant but never inquired if we wanted a coffee refill or if we enjoyed our dessert. Frankly, it's dingy, dark, and depressing. I only visit about every 6 months thinking it won't be worse or just to change-it-up. I've visited many times and on a "good" day a 3-star review is merited; tonight, no better than 2-star. Beer goggles is a phenomenon that can also make diner food look attractive. Trust me, I know this all too well. Between going to college in this area and living nearby for a couple of years, I've made more than a few less-than-sober excursions to the Llanerch in the wee hours of the morning. I'm not proud of it, mind you, but so it goes. For the most part, the food here is bland and, if you come here after 2 a.m., there's a good chance you'll see a fight break out and the cops swarming upon the diner. The place can get packed and the college and high school patrons can be annoying (having been one, I also know this to be a fact.) So, why would I even consider giving it four stars? First of all, it's a part of my history. I've been coming here since high school and have many memories here. For instance, one time we sat at a table for nearly half an hour waiting for our server to arrive. We decided to wait it out, for some reason, no matter how long it took. When she finally showed up, she was drunk. She had been drinking at a bar, watching the Chicago Bulls complete their three-peat in '97. Amazing. There are also two things that the Llanerch did very well: waffles and ice cream, and their chicken cutlet sandwich. Since then, the place has changed owners and both the menu and the interior have been overhauled but this diner will always hold special place in my cholesterol-filled heart. read more
