This is such a unique store! How many places are Irish Mexican fusion? The food is tasty and the service is great. We came here for brunch today, and ordered fish and chips and an Irish breakfast. North dishes were very well done.And since there are not very many places nearby where you can get an English breakfast. Our waiter was also very kind, and kept offering to take pictures for us, which was very sweet. On top of that, the service was quick. So, I had been looking forward to coming here for the longest time after it being recommended as "the best Irish breakfast you'll ever have, better than in Ireland". This was coming from an Irish woman who had moved to the area less than five years earlier that we just happened to meet while at another interesting food establishment. I made sure to not to get too excited or put the Hibernian on a pedestal before trying because I didn't want to end up in any kind of disappointing situation, and wanted to give it a fair shot and not base me expectations solely on what was told to me by a few people. Unfortunately, I am a bit sore and surprised today as I found that while the service and people here are impeccable and the experience was wonderful, nothing I had was just as great as had been described, and I simply just wasn't wowed by much. However, the cafe con latte was outstanding! This little storefront and eatery is small and cramped, but that's part of its charm, and it has the old built in table booths that I love from the 70's. Being greeted immediately with a wonderful attitude, I was already ready for all the wonders I had been told this place kept locked inside and quickly found the cafe con latte I ordered was PERFECTLY crafted with a mellow coffee blend and just the right amount of milk to blend the flavors into caffeinated bliss. Then I ordered what I came for.....the Irish breakfast. Deciding to go with the small Irish breakfast was a smart move on my part because even that was pretty massive. Now, let me say, this is a FULL Irish breakfast. It's all there. Everything in its place, just like it should be, tables even complete with HP sauce. However, the potatoes were the best part. Not that it shouldn't be a great part, but they weren't true hash, and everything else was just lackluster. It was bland. The last thing I expected after being constantly told of Hibernian's legendary status. I'm sure this opinion is likely not popular either, with how much it appears that people love it here. The omelet we ordered was also just as baseline. Nothing special, and nothing to make it all that flavorful. There is always the possibility that I was here on an off day, and it's worth another shot, because it's not often you find a very cool place like this. All the people shouting about this being the greatest breakfast in town can't be wrong. They obviously have something that makes them very special and I feel like I may have simply missed it or it just wasn't present in my meal and I want to experience it so badly. But until I do, I simply can't say they're the best. Still worth a stop in if you're in the area though; not sure if you'll ever find another place that has both Mexican and Irish specialties in one place! read more

Eggcellent diner food options with an Irish twist. Seating is limited but there's fast turnover with the speedy service. Ordered the full Irish and got everything my heart wanted and more. The blood sausages were crispy and the bangers were delicious. That plus the beans and eggs over easy, all together, can't go wrong! They had the usual table condiments but also some truly "across the pond favourites" of malt vinegar and this HP sauce which reminded me of A1 and, per their recommendation, went fantastic with the beans. Parter got some French toast (in addition to sharing the huge full Irish breakfast). I don't usually like French toast but this was fantastically crispy and eggy in a way I haven't had before, might be a convert! This is a family favorite. We have gone here enough times that the waitress asked me where my daughter was this morning, when we stopped in for breakfast. My daughter is off at college and we she comes home for break she will make sure to drop in, she loves the scones, colcannon, and chicken curry. Today I had a small Irish breakfast (eggs, beans, fried tomatoes, potatoes, and a variety of Irish breakfast meats), a side of curry sauce, and a sugar scone with coffee. My husband had beans, over toast topped with a fried egg and coffee. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. The shop has a variety of Irish and Mexican grocery items at the front of the restaurant to take home. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a choice of Irish, Mexican, and American menu items. I've passed this tidy little store front coffee shop too many times to mention. Decided to finally pop in for breakfast. Showed up "late", or around 8:45 on a Sunday and was happy to get one of 6-8 small booths right away. Inside is no less quaint. Just stopped in for the first time today. I love places like this. Independent small business restaurants with a unique theme. I'm not sure why it's Irish and Mexican, but I love it! My friend had fish and chips, and I got a veggie breakfast wrap (they serve breakfast all day!). He let me try the chips on his plate and they were delicious. I also tried an Irish soda. There is metered parking across the street so don't let the busy street scare you away. The restaurant is a small business so make sure you pay in cash if you can. Pedro is the cook and he is very friendly so it was easy talking to him. The waitress (didn't catch her name) was very nice as well and very attentive. There is a small grocery store in the front which is great to pick up local items. The restaurant is set up with booths unless there are 2 of you .. you can sit at a smaller table. My veggie omelet was very tasty. I really enjoyed the homemade home fries. I added onions but I could have skipped that. My friend had eggs and sausage and she enjoyed it. She is a frequent customer. So I've been to many British food places, and this was the best one so far! The curry and chips were amazing! I've not come across one place that has real homemade chips like back home in the uk, I travelled an hour to go there, they also have lots of British groceries, all reasonably priced, the service was brilliant! If you have Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) you are going to be in heaven here! Hibernia is the classical Latin name for the island of Ireland so this place is most known for its Irish food but it's owned by a Mexican family so that cuisine is also served here. Of course it's in the good old USA so American staples are represented as well. I know it sounds crazy but it works. This place reminds me of the beginning of countless jokes. "An Irishman, a Mexican, and an American walk into a ........" Actually you can have a fine breakfast here with enough variety to satisfy almost everyone and that's not a joke. The lovely wife and I showed up about 11 am today (Sunday) and this tiny place was packed with a line to the door. We waited about ten minutes for a seat. Just about all the seats are small booths for four. If you show up with a larger group you're in trouble. The place is a little bit divey but it's clean. If it's Irish you want all the staples are here. You've got your black & white pudding, Irish bacon, fried breads, sausage, beans, etc. You can order an Irish breakfast in either a small or large version and sample most of it. On the American side my wife ordered a Jalapeno Omelet for $7.99. It was large and well-cooked and came with a mountain of home fries. It contained several veges and also some small pieces of bacon. She found it good but not great as it seemed to be light on the fillings. Now for a Mexican choice. I went with the Huevos ala Mexicana with Chorizo and jalapeño for $8.99. It was a spicy Mexican scramble and came with rice and beans. It was excellent and a very large portion. Note- My meal was a special. If you want a full Mexican menu you need to ASK FOR IT. Before I forget, we shared a homemade grilled raisin scone that was OMG delicious! Service could have been better today. We waited over twenty five minutes for our food. It was tough to get refills on water and coffee. At one point my slightly frustrated wife actually got up and refilled her own coffee. One the plus side the two young women that served us were very nice. Within about a ten minute drive I can find breakfast in several other places. Would I come here again, absolutely? Would I call it a destination restaurant for breakfast, probably not? read more

My breakfast sandwiches and perfect and the breakfast burrito was huge and spot on. The eggs were super finely scrambled in with the beans and other ingredients ~ almost like a tofu scramble. Any place that can go between Irish and Mexican food like this is a unique find for sure. I love both styles of food, and can never find enough good Irish fare around these parts except on St Patty's Day. It's nice to know that a fix is so close by. I went for a basic Irish bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a bagel with home fries. Very good sandwich, and excellent home fries perfectly seasoned. You know you've found a good place when the home fries are perfect, because not every place gets them right. I wish parking was better and the place was less cramped, but that's just the area I suppose. Previous reviewers were right as the proprietors here are very friendly. You can get some awesome lunch or breakfast here. The Irish breakfast specials have hearty portions and will fill up even the hungriest of eaters. The Old Sod Burger is a favorite it is a cheeseburger with Irish bacon and fried onions. It doesn't sound like anything special on paper just order one and thank me later. The service is good. Hibernia is one of those Delco places you've probably passed by 1000x times but haven't noticed. It's a damn shame because it's one of the only places you can get not only an Irish Breakfast but ALSO Huevos Rancheros in the area! That's right, the two best breakfast options under one roof. Hibernia is a small little place and is quite homey, with a little Irish/Mexican market up front where you can buy household necessities and ingredients, and the restaurant in the back. If you aren't up for the Full Irish Breakfast I can understand, and so do the owners as they offer a Half Portion which is more than filling. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Place is good, affordable and quick service. I also loved the Irish goods sold in store and plan to stock up on my favorites next time I go. My hubby got the small fry and because of the reviews I foolishly got the Ulster fry. This foolishness is in no way a reflection of the food, the meal was great. However,a breakfast without beans just isn't the same so I was kicking myself for changing up my usual order. The reason for the one star reduction is that after I picked up my order I got a notification from GrubHub that the restaurant and updated my total and added a 1.00 for a change I requested. The only thing I changed was I asked for some hot sauce. It seems kind of crazy to me that they'd charge me 1.00 and tax for a small container of to go hot sauce. If I had dined in I assume condiments are free. I wasn't charged for the orange marmalade and butter that came automatically in the bag. Which went uneaten by the way because I hate orange marmalade. Because they forgot food items that I paid dearly for, only to get home & find out they provided No butter for toast , No Butter for Burnt pancakes & NO SYRUP for said Pancakes .
