Are you ready for your world to change?…read more The only reason why I thought of not posting what I will say, is because I know this will get Magdalen more busy and man what will I do if I ever lose her? I don't know. But let me tell you a little bit more about the decision you are about to make. My first ever waxer relocated to a whole another state and I was lost for sometime. I tried to become a regular for European Wax but their service and work did not mix well with me. I am currently located at #AspenHills #Rockville and I started looking for waxers. Wanting to find a place that feels like home and a safe space to be reborn every other 4-6 weeks. When I found Magdalen's page, the reviews automatically got my attention and decided to book being that she was 13-15 min away. The BEST decision I've made all year. When you enter, this particular smell that its so deliciously delicate welcomes you. Warning, in the beginning you will be confused and nervous because her method is so different from what everyone else is doing. But trust me when I say that it's less painful and more effective. I have thick hair and it grows really fast but after my first visit with Magdalen I noticed about only 60% of my hair growing back. Which is crazy for the amount of hair I used to grow with the other waxer. She warned me about growing less hair and less pain but you just have to book for the experience and for finding a home. She cleans THROUGHLY... life changing. Her wisdom definitely outshines her years of experience and yes, you will look forward to seeing her every visit.

So I came back in hopes of turning my 3 star review to a 5 star review because their owner Vicky…read morereached out to me. I won't say this salon is terrible, but again I am particular about my French and I will not be returning. I appreciated Vicky for reaching out, she offered me what I had thought was going to be a makeup of my last pedicure for it's entirety. Mind you i come from this industry and when I try to make something right I will give the compliments of the same amount in courtesy from what you paid me for. When I sat down and showed Hana, who Vicky recommended she nodded and said ok, she went to show Vicky the picture comes back and says I will be charged an additional $50... because the complimentary service was "only for the pedicure..." at this point I am just annoyed all over again. I tried to just tell myself let's see how today's service goes and base it off that. It was the day right before my birthday so I was like whatever...Mind you I came with the mindset my $86 with all of what I got last time would be taken into consideration. I did not care to pay more for the new designs I was asking for. But here goes the list of additional they decided to charge me for. Acrylics for my big toes, French, and designs. On to the service, Hana was sweet, soft spoken and definitely particular in her craft. Good, but I did not want to be at the nail salon for a pedicure for almost 2 1/2 hours. I explained to her I like my nails super short or as short as she can get them and that i like my French thick so they are noticeable. I don't understand what it is about cuticles and nail walls that they seem to not remember humans have. I was knicked and drilled with their bits over and over...it freaking hurts. Like they should go back to practicing on an orange. Otherwise Hana was 8/10 for the pedicure service. Finally after an hour of just basic pedicure, we were at painting and designs. I wanted a beige nude for my base and again a THICKER french that at least matched one another. Both sides did not mimic the other. And I hate when my second toe is not seen because it curves. In that case the tech should the line far more thicker so it's seen. We were already almost 2 hours in and I had to get to another appointment and then my birthday dinner reservation. So I just wanted her to get to the designs. When she started the designs, the flowers I showed her were WHITE and noticeable meaning when you pick the white acrylic up it should be a bigger dot to show on top of the beige. My flowers blended right in and I could barely see them. I kept telling her can we make it whiter or petals bigger. She just insisted on adding acrylic color to it. She tried red then pink and it just looked awful. I told her I did not like it and she used acetone to take it off.. it of course still lingered and did not come off all the way. I just old her please just add more white. She seemed scared of how to do it and barely even made a difference... I paid for this so why am I not receiving what I ask for? If it can't be done just tell me and I can opt for something less technical... Sigh...her massage was 10/10 though. So I guess if you have thick cuticles and have less sensitive feet you can go there. 2 techs less than 2 months apart where I bled after I left and got scabbed? I am good. Also why reach out if you won't be responding after you text me?

I will 100% be doing this regularly. The henna was a good trial run to see if I wanted to do microblading. A little dark the first day, but evens out nicely. I've been getting tons of compliments.

Despite that, there was no discussion about whether the henna formula had changed since my previous visits, no explanation that the product contained PPD (a common allergen), and no offer to perform a patch test before applying the tint. Within hours of leaving the salon, my eyebrows became swollen, red, and intensely itchy. By the following day, I had developed clusters of blisters where the tint had been applied, and my skin was clearly having an allergic reaction. I spent Sunday treating the symptoms with Benadryl and Cortizone-10, and by Monday I had to seek care at urgent care, where I was diagnosed with allergic contact dermatitis and prescribed a stronger steroid cream. On Tuesday morning, I wrote an email requesting a refund and attaching a photo to which I have received no acknowledgment or reply. Unfortunately, the experience didn't end there. On Tuesday morning, I experienced an anxiety attack because of how severe the reaction had become. Later that afternoon, I developed a severe migraine, and over the following days I noticed eyebrow hairs beginning to fall out in the affected areas. The urgent care provider explained that my reaction was consistent with an allergy to PPD, a chemical commonly added to henna dyes to create a darker, longer-lasting color. While I understand that allergic reactions can happen and that salons are not medical professionals, PPD allergies are well documented. Given that I specifically mentioned having sensitive skin, I believe the salon should have informed me that the product contained PPD, discussed the risk of allergic reactions, asked about prior sensitivities, or at minimum offered a patch test before proceeding. I've had this same service at this salon in the past without incident, which makes the lack of any conversation about the product or potential risks even more disappointing. What should have been a routine cosmetic service resulted in weeks of pain, medication, medical treatment, significant stress, and temporary hair loss. I cannot recommend this service or salon based on my experience and the fact that I've received no reply to my email. Note that I am too upset over the event to call the salon again. I hope the salon takes additional precautions to better inform clients and help prevent someone else from going through what I did. While I previously supported this small business, I will never return.
