I was in need of a haircut and didn't plan ahead so I passed by here to ask for a walk-in. Oscar said he had availability and offered me a slot that worked for me. Oscar was amazing. He took his time and did a great fade. He additionally gave me tips on my curly hair and what he suggested I do. He did a scissor cut on top too that left it all even. The new spot is clean and feels compact yet roomy and has sort of a small community aspect to it. My go-to barber is Arcee and I set up appointments through the Booksy app. I usually go in with a picture of how I want my hair to look and let him know how I want it tweaked. He never disappoints giving me insight on how/why he cut my hair a certain way and it ends up exceeding expectations. Let's get a few things straight. I've gone to Brandon for wedding cuts. I've gone to Brandon for interview cuts. I've gone to Brandon for first date cuts. I've gone to Brandon for when I needed a pick-me-up, a drink, and a friend when I was in a bad spot. Whether or not he knows it, Brandon has been a central component to my look, my swag, my mental health, and quite honestly, my identity for several years now. After my first or second date with my future wife, one of the first mentions of my looks she ever made was, "Tip your barber!" I s*** you not, there's a non-0 chance I wouldn't have gotten a second date had Brandon not lined me up beforehand. This could be you. I've had a hard time imagining what I would say in this space because I don't mess with Yelp, but I know that so many other people do, and I know how much it can help Brandon. He deserves it. He works hard, he grinds, he communicates, he opens up his space and his heart to you. He's easy-going, he'll pick up what you put down, and without fail, he'll leave you looking at least 10x better than you did entering his space, no matter how recently you just got your last cut. I say this without hyperbole. As I'm sure many of his clientele can attest to, I've been going to Brandon since he was still doing his thing off Bonita (over 5 years, and I have to believe that's just the average; not even one of the old dogs). I followed him from Chula, to Downtown, to Carmel Valley, to Solana Beach, and I can't wait to see him doing his thing in Mission Valley. I've been in San Francisco for a year, but I have to say one of the reasons I'm most excited to move down to LA in a couple months is that I'll be able to treat myself to a fresh cut at least once a year from my guy.
