Company gave us a quote based on photos to clear an entire house. Two people arrived (at the wrong time btw) to complete the job in 4 hours which actually took them 8 hours. And their instructions didn't include 2 rooms that were included in the original quote. And now the company is ghosting us. They also threw out a brand new vacuum that we told them not to take. I used the online order form to request an xl truck removal for a house clean out of clothing, furniture and kitchen items that we wanted to have donated. The website is very easy to use and navigate. They also communicate very well. The truck came right on time in the time frame I chose. The truck that came was a lot smaller than an xl large truck but had a small u haul trailer attached. The driver and I got off on the wrong foot because I thought the truck was too small for our load. It sounded like maybe he had heard this before.I was wrong, it all fit. We signed up for the company to pick up a sleeper sofa that was upstairs in a guest room. They sent only one guy who came hours earlier then the text said. Then he knocked into the walls, damaging the paint so we will have to repair and paint the room. Fortunately we had a roofer here and he asked him to help get the sofa downstairs -- otherwise he wouldn't have been able to do the job. (The roofer will get our tip - not the guy the company sent.) We had signed up for him to deliver to a charity but he said he wasn't paid to do that. He kept arguing with us and complaining that we shouldn't call the company or he would lose his job. The process of booking an appointment is easy. Pricing fair. The problem starts with the driver. I had to reach out to the driver the day of to find out the time they would arrive. I was told 6 to 7 pm. Would have been really nice to know that the night before. I wouldn't have had to take a day off of work. The driver said he would update. At 6:15 I received a text stating they were an hour out. When they got here I had to show them how to move a piece of furniture. They finish, I go out this morning to empty the trash and low and behold my dining room table is sitting with the trash. They just moved it outside now I have to deal with it. I requested a large order removal, knowing I had a lot of stuff. When I took the pictures it only showed a few things. But that should not matter bc I paid for 2 truckloads of stuff to be removed. By the time the van arrived I had a significantly larger pile. But still, no more than 2 truckloads, which is what I paid for. First the man tried to get the load before I had ordered it. Contacting me in the morning to see the "earliest" they could come. The "earliest" is noon. That's why I scheduled it from noon-4. My pictures only showed about 8 things. So the company calls, very uncomfortable, and asks me to pay for another medium load. $200. I just want this stuff out of here. So fine, whatever. 1 out of 10 don't recommend. I was looking for a next-day appointment before a busy travel month for work. I called and booked an appointment on 3/31 (Easter Sunday) with a live representative who said nothing about not providing services on the holiday. I was pleased because it was super convenient which is why I was willing to pay upfront. I got a call about 4 hours later from a driver that said they actually don't pick-up on Easter Sunday. When I called to cancel the appointment to make other arrangements (the ONLY reason I booked with them is because they led me to believe they could provide the service sooner than anybody else) I was told they could only refund 80% of the fee. Completely unacceptable given that it was the company's fault to book me for that day in the first place. I contested the charge with my credit card company (Chase, who I 10/10 DO recommend) who was able to get me a 100% refund; obviously that was always an option that I was not offered when I called on my own behalf. I don't blame them for not working on Easter; I blame them for booking the appointment in the first place and not acknowledging their error. read more

I found that LoadUp has hidden predatory fees, inaccurate scheduling, and poor customer service! Here is my experience. I had a parent pass away and the work to downsize and prepare my father's house was significant. LoadUp only added to the cost and stress. I searched for local companies for junk removal and found LoadUp and scheduled a pick-up for an AM block when I would be in town. Only after scheduling online--where no mention of cancellation fees is provided in the booking process--did LoadUp book a totally different pick-up window. An all day, 12 hour period! Since I couldn't be at the house for such a long period, I cancelled within the allotted period but they then informed me that there was a 20% non-refundable fee. This was despite plenty of notice, a scheduling window that was not honored in booking, and predatory nature of where they explain fees. I'd recommend going with just about any other business in the future, to include options that don't charge hidden fees such as collegehunkshaulingjunk.com or other local businesses. I only wish I had had the time to read page 27 of their terms to understand that they were predatory in nature and didn't stand behind their claims of pick-up scheduling. Only after reading this do I see that they don't guarantee anything...time, cost, or service leaving the customer at risk. I sought to contact customer support but found that LoadUp is a technology company, not moving/junk service and never could reach a person. They only use text messaging and reply curtly with canned responses. A customer service representative indicated that they called, but no call was recieved. Knowing that they likely just give a fraction of the high fees to the local company only added to my frustration that this wasn't a good option.
