My friends and I decided to venture over to Loaf Lounge for brunch and were so happy to do so! Inside is super small, very casual, and you order at the counter. Luckily, we got a table shortly after we ordered, otherwise we would be waiting for a bit! They give you a number and will bring you your food as it comes out. We got a oatmeal cream pie and the Bear chocolate cake to share, the sausage breakfast sandwich on a croissant with hashbrown and the turkey bacon sandwich. The oatmeal cream pie could have been warmed before serving and would have been significantly better, but still delicious. The cake though? COME ON. I am not even a big cake person and I absolutely loved it! Rich, decadent and worth sharing. And the breakfast sandwich?? Probably one of the best I have had in a really long time. I had been here once before to get a slice of THEE Cake for my wife's birthday. It was solid, but I knew I needed to come back. There isn't a ton of seating and definitely isn't meant for large groups. Seriously like three people max per party. The smells are insane. You know those Jimmy John's signs that say free smells, well I would pay money for these smells...in this economy?!?!...the answer is still....YES! You order from the front and take a number to *fingers crossed* find a seat. The staff was really nice. The breakfast sandwiches were a !!! Super cute counter service diner with creative treats, totally fine food, and a cute interior. My friend got the Capicola - ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some fig jam. It looked very tasty and creative- there was some kind of toasted cheese situation, and anything that involves fig is always fun! It was a little messy and fell apart almost immediately. It also was super decadent and had a ton of sauce and oil, which is to be expected for a croissant sandwich, but this one was very very rich. I had a simple sourdough toast and found it was also super greasy. I asked for butter on the side, but the toast came out with oil already soaked into it; it seemed they had toasted it on the griddle. It was delicious but not what I was looking for. I also ordered a green tea and was served red tea. This ended up being a happy accident because the red tea was delicious but again, not what I ordered. The service ranged from really awesome to really meh. The person bringing our food was really friendly and chatty, but the person taking our order was really cold and seemed bothered by our totally normal questions about the menu. Overall this seemed like a really fun place to grab a unique treat and meet friends! I wouldn't say it's a great cafe to get work done and it better suited for meeting people or grabbing a coffee/tea. read more

I love the vibe of this place! While it's fairly new, it seems as though it's been in the neighborhood a while. B and I got 2 different breakfast sandwiches to share. The english muffin sandwich, with an over easy egg and sausage, was quite possibly the tastiest breakfast sandwich in the city. When coupled with a hash brown on the side, it's like having a "homemade by your chef bestie" version of the classic McDonald's breakfast combo... but wayyyy more delicious, obviously!!! Breakfast @loaf_lounge was so worth getting up a little early and driving. We went to get the chocolate cake from "The Bear" - which is everything you want it to be. Riding the line of almost too deep chocolate flavor with moist fudge cake and lite filling with chocolate icing. We then also had to have pasties and breakfast sandwiches. The sausage breakfast sandwich is perfection. The sausage is just a bit spicy, the English muffin is the best I've ever had, and the American cheese is just the layer of fat you want on breakfast sandwich. I really like the addition of Mayo, but did want more herbs. The spicy capicola with fig jam is the little extra bougie we all want for breakfast. Just a bit fancy and decadent. Amazing food. Stopped in for breakfast with the family. The breakfast sandwich was exquisite. The hash brown hands down is the best I've ever had. Similar to McDonald's in size and look but nowhere near as greasy and much tastier. The deserts were also spot on. Loved the strawberry morning bun. My daughter ended up stealing it from me. Their demeanor is offputting and makes me not want to support this business. I've been there multiple times. Ownership: Fix the damn door. I was dressed down by one of your lackeys for not closing the door. Normal operating doors are self-closing. I was completely unaware that the self closing mechanism was not working properly. I did not need to be talked down to in front of other customers about how I should close the door because "It's chilly in here". It was also very interesting how the person behind me didn't get that same lecture because she walked through the door just like I did. Teach your employees how to deal with simple issues. I want to like your business but your employees act like $hit to the customers. You probably already know that though. read more

They offer fresh bread, pastries, cookies, sandwiches, espresso drinks, etc. They are known for their bread and it's some of the best in Chicago right up there with Middle Brow, Phlour & Hewn. All breads are sourdough based they said and you have to try the Carmelized Onion. The smell alone will make you cry let alone the flavor! Cookies are phenomenal with the Ruby Red Chocolate Chip taking the cake. Breakfast sandwiches are also very good; try the Capicola, Egg & Cheese.. trust me here! Food - amazing, 10/10. The croissants are crumbly and all the bread is fresh cooked. Now here's what to consider - the service is exceptionally and breathtakingly terrible. Service - we have consistently had trouble with the service here. Multiple times they have charged us for things we didn't order, and didn't bring them to our table. They will fight to take it off the bill saying we did ask for it or some other excuse. This has happened on 3 different occasions which has led me to write this review, as if it's part of their store policy or something. They will give you dirty looks behind the counter, smack gum, sit on their phones and talk to coworkers while you wait in line. That on top of the fact that the ambiance feels cheap does not make me feel great about this store. Okay so boom, this breakfast sandwich is 10 dollars, hash brown isn't included ($2) . Okay, fine. The sandwich is mediocre. I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the taste of the sausage itself, the muffin was good, and i liked the sauce and that was about it. The matcha wasn't great it tasted watered down and the iced coffee was just okay. We also tried the chocolate cake (7.50) for a slice.... That was also very meh. This place is cute and it seems like they have other stuff on their menu that seems good but i can't justify paying as much as i did for the mediocre service.
