Biscuit & Gravy with The Works
    Michael F.

Friendly service, I was greeted as I walked in and was able to order right away. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with the works. The biscuit itself was super fluffy, and not too dense which made it enjoyable to eat and not get stuck in your throat. The egg was served round, atop the biscuit and it was surprisingly over easy with a runny yolk. The sausage tasted amazing with a very strong fennel flavor, which I liked. The gravy... Well, probably not the best Ive had but with everything else so good on the plate, it's easy to overlook that. I enjoyed the outdoor bench seating, although there are indoor tables available as well. A really nice experience and some really good food here!

We tried a slice of the smore pie and a slice of the cherry berry pie. Both were fantastic. I'm partial to berry things, so that was my fave. Very very good. We got a frozen chicken pot pie to take home and bake ourselves. We split it between 7 of us and it was a good amount for us. Most of our group weren't all that hungry, so it ended up being enough, but if we had been hungrier, we probably would've needed more food. But man, it's a great chicken pot pie! Very very delicious. Would absolutely get it again. Some of the pies were sold out when we showed up midweek around 2 or 3. But we were able to get full size frozens no problem. Good spot! First heard about this place from somebody feed Phil. Thanks for the rec Phil!

Traveled a good distance to pick up a pie because all of their pies are exceptional. This time the blackberry-lime-basil pie truly peaked my interest. While there, we were drawn in by the cozy eat-in area and patio. The biscuit sandwiches are now a new obsession. In particular - the chicken sausage, cheese and peach habanero jam (OMG) was plate licking delicious as was the biscuit and sage gravy and biscuit. We will definitely be back for the exotic flavors of pot pies and of course the featured pies of the week. Service was very good. You order at the counter and they deliver to the table. We had a lot of questions and they were all knowledgeable and kind. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but so worth it. P.S. definitely grab a cup of coffee when you visit. They sell it by the bag as well.

I love love love having a neighborhood pie place! How charming They have an outdoor patio that's perfect for breakfast and a rotating pie selection that keeps you on your toes. They are my go-to for holiday pie orders, such a fun statement piece to bring to gatherings. And they have grits!

I love that they change up their pie flavors regularly. On our most recent visit, we stopped in and ordered a Frankenpie - three different slices of pie in a half-pie container. We'd ordered it to go, so we sat at the counter and waited well over a half hour for our pie to be ready. It wasn't just us waiting, as we saw a few other people go up and ask about their order. I'm not sure why they were so backed up that simple pie orders couldn't be resolved more efficiently. If anything, I wish we'd been informed while placing our order at the counter that they were backed up and could expect a wait. It is good pie though, so I'm sure I'll give it another shot.

Great selection pies each week/month that typically unique, non-traditional flavors! Love their option of the "Frankenpie" which is a fun way to try a slice of everything being offered. The key lime is a staple that is always available and it truly is bright, tart, and delicious! The cafe is very cute and staff is friendly. They even have a "pie garden" out back to sit and enjoy your goodies. I have yet to try their savory options but have heard great things.

Sweet biscuit - strawberry passion fruit jam + butter

I finally made it to Bang Bang!! I've been in the city for a long time and I've had their pie via delivery but never the elusive biscuits. I found myself in the area early enough in the day to stop by. I kept it really simple: one sweet and one savory biscuit. I loved the sweet one with the seasonal jam: strawberry passionfruit I think. The biscuit was incredible. What biscuit dreams are made of! It's nice inside, very cute. It is small, though, so if it's not a nice day to enjoy their outdoor patio, you might be taking it to go. Wait time was fine since I wasn't in a hurry, but something you should be prepared to wait on. Staff was friendly! I look forward to coming back here soon and trying a few more menu items, especially the PIIIIIE!

    Chicken Pot Pie

It was my first time at Bang Bang Pie today, but it won't be my last. My friend and I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. It had a nice crust and was chock-full of chicken pies and plenty of veggies. I had their Toasted Coconut Pie for dessert, and my friend ordered the Key Lime Pie. We topped it off with good coffee. I didn't like two things: the door to the outside eating area was left open most of the time, and it was still a little chilly this morning. I can't understand why a person doesn't have the mind to close the door automatically, regardless of the weather. The music was a little too loud for me. There are only four tables inside and plenty of room on the patio.

If you are in the Windy City, you must stop and get a biscuit from bang bang pie & biscuits! They homemade jam and butter, I could melt just thinking about it. We weren't hungry enough to get pie, but I regret not trying the pie. The staff was nice and the restaurant was clean! I have already told my sister to stop here when she visits the Windy City and I will be dreaming of warm yummy biscuits.

Very good brunch spot! I had the sausage biscuit with an egg and the habanero jam, which was very good. My wife had the mushroom quiche which was one of the best quiches I've ever had. Quality of food is very high but I think it's a little expensive for the portions (it's Chicago though, so it's expected). Definitely arrive before 10am on a weekend or you'll be waiting for quite a while.

Stopped by around lunch time and there were only two people in line. Several tables inside and lots of tables on the back patio so plenty of seating is the weather is good. The place was full but not crowded. Fast and friendly service plus the pot pie I ordered was delicious and the cold brew STRONG!

I've been avoiding this place for years but now I see why. Aside from the cheesecake this place was a snoozer. The savory biscuit was an extremely hard pass. Flavors just didn't mesh & the texture was just off. Quiche was ok but I doubt I'd return

Such a good spot! Came here on a Saturday around 2pm, waited for about 30 minutes to place my order, once it was placed it was ready in 5 minutes. Lots of outdoor space! Staff were friendly! I got the lemonade, very refreshing. The cup of grits was my favorite! These were so flavorful and perfectly cooked! I got the gravy biscuit, with the egg and sausage on it too, soooo good! Portions are huge! I got the end of summer cheesecake for desert. This was ok, the cornmeal crumble threw off the flavors for me. Overall I love it! Such a cute summer patio spot!

Not absolutely sure but they have an outdoor space as well and it looks like a place that would be.

I dont think so. Most of their stuff is super fresh and needs to be refrigerated. Unless you are pretty close by, i guess you can call and ask?

The ube flavor is both sweet and nutty and the mousse topping was light and delicious. The main squeeze is lemon cake filled with lemon curd, cream cheese frosting, and a buttercream lemon on top. Both were incredible, but my favorite was the lemon! I loved that the lemon flavor was light, and the cream cheese frosting balanced it out really nicely. The space is so cute inside! I especially liked the longanisa breakfast sandwich and chicken adobo. I'm so glad that they were willing to make the breakfast sandwhiches beyond 12pm for some of us waiting in line. Fyi they normally stop making the breakfast sandwhiches at noon. Be prepared to wait in line for at least an hour, this spot is super popular. I also really enjoyed the chicken adobo. The chicken was tender and I thought the hint of sweetness from the coconut flakes sprinkled on top was a pleasant touch. I also really liked the Manila fog drink - it wasn't too sweet or overpowering. For the ube huckleberry basque cake - I mostly tasted tartness from the huckleberry and not so much ube, but it was good regardless. The staff were all pretty nice. There's indoor and outdoor seating. You'll likely be able to make a friend or two from the wait in line haha. Highly recommend trying this place at least once!

I actually don't like truffle or croissant but this was flaky, and the rock sugar (I think that's what it is?) on top is so addicting. the cream truffle filling was flavorful but not overpowering -- longanisa egg sandwich + hashbrown: 7/10 just wasn't a standout for me -- mushroom adobo: 8/10 it was flavorful - I would order again but not sure it's worth almost $20 for drinks, we both got the hot yam but my boyfriend got it iced and I got it hot -- it tasted better iced but it was still lacking in ube flavor. the coffee also didn't taste strong enough for me personally honestly I really wanted to like this place more but for almost $100 for everything and the long wait, I expected at least half of the items to be perfect but I felt like only the truffle croissant felt like a 10/10 for me I will say the staff was very sweet though -- maybe it's a better experience dining in, so I think next time I will wake up early to eat inside and hopefully be able to give a higher rating :-)

I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after reading the reviews here, I wasn't optimistic there would be many pastries left. Maybe I should play the lottery, because luckily there was no line and a pretty good selection of pastries left. The staff were super friendly and there were so many unique flavors of baked goods. We decided to split several and opted for the blueberry cloud cookie, chai cinnamon roll, banana pudding croissant, espresso cornflake cookie, and potato focaccia. The shop was more of a small take-out operation, so we took the pastries to a nearby park to eat. Everything was absolutely divine! The group favorite was the focaccia- the creamy potatoes and cheese brought a rich flavor that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy bread. The chai roll was perfectly soft and delicately spiced, completed with that soft cream cheese frosting and gooey center we all like to see. My personal favorite was the banana pudding croissant- the dough was so crispy that I'm pretty sure others could hear the bite, and there was a generous amount of filling with fresh bananas and visible vanilla beans in the whipped cream. The espresso cookie was super soft- while I couldn't taste the espresso very clearly, I absolutely *loved* the caramel-coated cornflakes topped with sea salt. Super unique and would definitely order again. Despite their decadent appearances, none of the pastries were too sweet. Already plotting a return visit and can't recommend this shop enough!
