Enjoyed the salmon one the most -- especially with the fried capers and fish eggs. The sausage/egg/cheese is quite spicy and doesn't have any greens or special sauce. Also really enjoyed the oatmeal cream pie -- would go back for that. I'm recently off pork so I've been hunting for new breakfast sandwich options. The veggie breakfast sandwich at Loaf Lounge was delightful: cheese; a layer of kale and shiitake, tidily fried-egg-over-medium, and a super flavorful mayo spread. There's also a nice bite of acidity, although I'm not sure from which ingredient. Only downside, it's a bit difficult to eat without making an eggy mess. Worth it. I also purchased a boule of sourdough and it was perfectly tangy and chewy, with enough sturdiness to fry up a perfect egg-in-a-hole. read more

I wanted to like this place but it ended up being really hit or miss for me. I ordered the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, an iced mocha, and a slice of chocolate cake. The breakfast sandwich was the definite highlight of my meal. It seemed expensive from the menu but it was totally worth it. The homemade sausage was incredible, and the homemade English muffin was really great too. They use over medium eggs in the sandwich, which I loved. Not a lot of places do that and I really prefer when the yolk is still a bit runny. The chocolate cake is the reason I decided to come this place. It looked really good and I was exited to try it. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. The cake itself was decent, nothing special. It was a solid, moist chocolate cake. I like the chocolate mouse used as a filling. Pretty standard but it was good. The chocolate buttercream frosting was completely inedible. I don't know if a got a bad batch, it definitely tasted off. It was soapy and sour with no hint of chocolate. I picked around it and ate what I could so it wasn't a complete loss. However, I wouldn't recommend taking your chance with this cake. The mocha was fine. It took a long time for it to be made, about 20 minutes when it wasn't particularly busy. The cup I got was only 2/3 full which was annoying for a drink that was already pretty expensive. I wouldn't bother with the coffee here. Service is slow and it's overpriced. In conclusion: come for the sandwiches and nothing else. read more

While pricey, I didn't expect much, but it surprised me in a good way. The bread toasted crisp and sausage patty flavorful. It was messy because the egg yolk. So get napkins. The sandwich is little bigger than what you expect for an English muffin sandwich. It is pricey but I think it's worth it for an excellent sandwich. Everyone is friendly and relatable. The ambiance is good. The layout invites you to hang out with 2-3 friends/family (groups of 2 are better) and enjoy your pastry/meal. But then please go because there is a line I'm probably in that line praying you take ur coffee to go so I can have a spot to sit. Heard about this place from the hype over "The Bear" Hulu series, and it was WAY better than I ever could have expected. The veggie breakfast sandwich was a combination of flavors tasting so gourmet, mainly from the sweetness of the caramelized onions to the savory accent of the herb mayo. I was misgendered by the gentlemen in the red beanie, which was uncomfortable, I won't be back. Sandwiches and pastry's are solid. If I didn't already live in the neighborhood, I would move to Avondale just to be near this bakery. Loaf Lounge easily has the best English muffin around and it's not even close. Lounge Loaf is definitely worth the visit! Not only can you get Ben's amazing bread (which has a great outer crust and chewy inside - he's definitely perfected his craft) but there are delicious pastries and a sandwich menu. We got the BLT (yum!) which had crispy bacon, crunchy lettuce and farm tomatoes on lightly toasted bread (the bread did make the sandwich). Instead of fries, we got the pepper poppers - they come two to an order - perfectly fried, with jalapeño sauce in the center and a side dipping sauce. Wow - we could have eaten 20 more. They are a standout. We also got potato pave with country ham layered in (on special). The potatoes were perfectly cooked inside with a crisp outer layer - wow! For dessert we got an oatmeal sandwich cookie - also delicious. The atmosphere is very chill and coffee shop comfortable (lounge part), with good light from the big windows and nicely spaced tables. You can also sit at the counter and stare into the kitchen, which I always find entertaining. Can't wait to come back to try more of the menu - and bring home a loaf of bread and pastries.
