    Buttered lobster rolls
    Kathy W.

On our very first trip to Maine (!), we wandered into Lobster Cove for a late lunch after visiting Nubble Lighthouse, and what a gem we found. We kicked things off with golden fried mushrooms in a light, crispy batter, paired with a creamy horseradish dipping sauce that packed just the right punch. Next came the essential New England clam chowder, easily one of the best I've ever tasted. And for the main event: three warm, buttery lobster rolls, served with fries, coleslaw, and a classic pickle on the side. A couple sodas and an iced tea topped off our feast. Ruby, our server, was attentive and friendly without hovering, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the dining room was full of light, with big windows offering beautiful views.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We left full and happy, already looking forward to a return visit.

I came here on 04/29/2025 for lunch with my Mom--her choice. We came during the early afternoon. We were greeted by a young man & asked if we wanted to sit outside in the enclosed dinning area or inside, Mom choice inside. We had a great view of the ocean. (5 stars for the view) I found their chairs very uncomfortable. 2 stars for them. Elaina was our waitress. She never told us her name but soon came over to great us after being seated & to take a drink order. I ended up ordering a cup of lobster bisque ($8.00) to start with which was good (5 stars) & just the right size since I was ordering an entree. I also got potato skins that were a little pricey ($12.00) for an appetizer & old potatoes. (3 stars due to price) I had needed a little extra time deciding on what to order. I had asked how much the lobster roll was ($33.00) which I found to be very pricey but that is what I wanted so I went with it. It was O.K. But I've had better. (3 stars) The hot dog roll was toasted nicely but the meat was chewy & had a nice sweetness to it. I didn't like the chewy part & ended up with lobster meat stuck in my teeth, which isn't something that happens. Thank God that I had some dental floss on me...lol Mom had the Scallop roll $19 with Onion rings $3.00 sub which she liked & cleared her plate. Elaina must of got busy because we didn't see her much after our meals were delivered which by the way took way too long to come out. Quick, easy entrees so we didn't understand why it took so long to get to us. No apology on the long wait. She never came back right away to make sure everything was O.K. or to see if we needed anything else. A table next to us came in after us & got their meals after us & she had went to them to see how their meals were & take away their plates then asked us if we were done. I had to ask for the bill. I was already annoyed @ this point because we had been done with our meals for about 15 minutes before she was near by for us to ask for the bill. I mentioned how we were wondering where our food was when she brought it out...never said sorry. I had also made a comment how we had been ready for a while for our bill...no apology or explanation. We didn't see her much so I'm guessing she didn't have many tables inside & maybe she had tables upstairs or outside on the patio or maybe she just can't handle a couple of tables? IDK, but the service started out good then went to poop, unfortunately that affected her tip. I felt bad but tipping is based on service where we come from, so sorry Elaina for not getting a bigger tip. Even if we got an apology for the long waits I may have tipped more. The parking lot is very small & tight so enter & park with caution. There are parking spots across the street next to the beach rocks if you don't like the crammed feeling. I think this place for me is a one time & done. I don't see myself coming back here when there are a lot more seafood restaurants in the area to try out. I did enjoy some Mommy Daughter time, so that was 5 stars....lol

After visiting the lighthouse we ventured to this gem. It's right on the ocean! We ordered a myriad of delicacies, calamari, chowder, lobster bisque and lobster roll. Elizabeth and Ryan were knowledgeable and very friendly. The theme is nautical which is very appropriate considering its location

I don't understand why the place has such bad reviews! I enjoyed my experience here for a quick lunch! Drinks were awesome btw and the service was great! The food were definitely on the pricey side but It's seafood! Simple decorations and chairs, very much like a mom and pop resto!

Abysmal (e.g., frozen and microwaved) food, wacky servers who cause discomfort (loud singing, constant talking) and forgot everything, high prices... The view is nice but that's all this place has going for it. Steer clear.

I will start this as I always do and say that I do not give out five stars, unless I am really blown away. I have come to this place a few times and I've always been happy with the service and very happy with the food. Sitting upstairs you have a great view of the ocean and it was a lovely place to hang out while you eat. They have a delicious fisherman's platter. My better half had a whole lobster and was very satisfied. If you are looking for a place to get the full seafood Maine experience this is a great spot to do it. Great food, wonderful atmosphere and good service what more could you want.

Another visit to the Lobster Cove - again friendly, knowledgeable and efficient service! Tender perfectly prepared lobster roll after bacon wrapped scallops that I suggest you don't miss.

My husband and I shared this Fisherman's platter and the Lobster roll. All the seafood was delicious and a generous amount of Seafood.

The food and service we great at Lobster Cove. Our server Jess was fantastic and she made sure all our requests were met in a timely manner. She was polite and personable.

Not sure about some of the other reviews, but I had a pleasant lunch of fresh seafood. The fried clam strips were very good, crispy and tasty. Broiled scallops were excellent, fresh and almost melted in your mouth. Nothing like eating fresh seafood along the coast. It was well prepared. Service was good, a bit abrupt but no problems.

Our first stop in Maine for lunch, and what a great decision this was. I started with a Maine brewery lunch ipa... what a smooth beer. Lunch I orders a lobster roll with extra hot butter. It came with crispy French fries and a cup of coleslaw. Everything was so delicious and fresh... great price . Friends ordered the twin lobsters and crab cakes... everyone left happy and full. We had a table near the windows, amazing view of the water. Such a great place to grab some food with a view. Parking lot is a bit small, other option is along the road.

Beautiful location!!! Great view from many spots in the restaurant. Staff is very friendly, and food is delicious. We came on a Thursday around 3pm and there were no spots at the bar or at tables overlooking the water (besides outside). Get there early!! Drinks are delicious as well.

    We love the specials menu.

Last night was great as always. The window view of the ocean is beautiful and the waitress we had is new and she was so good. Thanks for another great night Lobster Cove!

Unfortunately no Arnold palmers. We got the fried haddock and fries, the chicken finger kids meal, 2 cold lobster rolls 6oz and a box of fried clams. Each lobster rolls comes with a side of kettle chips. Overall everything was great. You order at the counter and find a seat inside or outside and they bring it to you. It's nice and clean, they have been around for a year now. The servers were nice and even offered to put our canned sodas in a cup of ice. One comment that stood out from another review is they put old bay on everything, literally. Although old bay is awesome, it can make this saltier. In the case of the fried clams, if made them a little too salty. The tartar sauce, garlic aoli were really good. The chicken strips are freshly made chicken, not the usual frozen processed chicken fingers which we really appreciate as parents who try to limit processed foods for our little one. The lobster rolls were really good, with the perfect texture and freshness. The only thing that was odd was again the old bay. It didn't make us dislike the roll, but I would prefer it to be omitted in the future. The star of the day was the fried haddock. The fish was perfect. The kiddo liked the fish more than the chicken which is saying something. It was not fishy at all and perfectly fried. The fries are thick russet potato's because they reminded me of a great baked potato. I could be wrong but that's my guess. If you are a tourist, they have a New England meal where you get a little bit of everything which is a great menu item.

They serve various size of lobsters as well as cook them for you. However they do not provide place to eat or utensils so they function more as a market than a restaurant. They have sort of a parking lot where you can park. There are few works on the back hanging around and 2 younger staff that take care of orders. Lobster has quite few size options and some explanations for terms they use. We weren't sure what to get but figure we wanted larger size lobsters. SLX which is the largest ones were $14 per pound. They can also let you pick them live as well but we chose 2 lb ones. They charge $1.5 to boil but it's a-lot of work to boil properly so it's worth it. We waited about 20-25minutes or so and they also chilled it so that we can take it home to eat. Luckily we had ice box with some ice packs so it kept the lobster fresh until getting home. Once we got home we opened the bag to eat the lobster. It's a huge lobster with large claws. We got a large bowl and separate plate to eat. It was a massive task to crack the claws as one of the claw was huge and very tough. We ended up using a hammer and dull knife to crack them open. The meat was tender and sweet. One of the best maine lobster we had. Overall the place provides fresh maine lobster for good price. Only issue is that they don't serve it so you will need to plan to take it home and have tools to crack them open. They also only take cash. If i were to come back i would give them a call a head of time to have the lobster prepared to go and pick them up which seems to be what other people were doing.

His replies were delayed, his tone was monotone, and he did not seem confident with the menu. When my wife asked if they had the blueberry beer, he took the menu from the table and stood there reading it silently instead of checking with the bartender. Later, when my wife went to modify a dish, he said he was not sure they could do that. She told him, "I know they can. I do this every time I am here," and that is when he mentioned he had only been working there a few months. It explained the uncertainty, but it did not make the interaction smoother. The strangest moment was when I said I did not like the club soda. He came back and said, "Since you do not like the club soda you will not like the flat water, so I brought you a sparkling bottle instead since it is the same price." It was not rude. It was simply a very odd assumption and not something I have ever had a server decide on their own. On the positive side, the star of the meal, and honestly every time we come, is the shrimp cocktail. Huge shrimp served over crushed ice with cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. The shrimp were incredibly fresh, very firm, and had that perfect crunch with each bite. Absolutely delicious. The kitchen continues to deliver, and the rest of the staff seemed great, but the service at our table did not match the usual experience. We will be back for the food, especially that shrimp cocktail, but hopefully with a more confident and consistent front of house experience next time.
