At here last night with my husband and son. From the time we walked in the door to the time we left everybody every staff member we encounter was extremely pleasant. Food and drinks were delicious for appetizer. We had fresh lobster, shrimp and crab meat cocktail and my husband shared it. It was plenty. We had fresh bread and we also had the thinly sliced beef tenderloin with baby greens and capers with vinaigrette on. baguette slices. Andrea was our hostess, he was wonderful to talk to , and Josephine was the waitress. She was extremely knowledgeable about all meals.. for dinner I have the seafood trio (shrimp, scallops, and haddock) with light breadcrumbs, potatoes, and mixed vegetables, which included eggplant, squash, peppers, and onions. My husband sent each had the ribeye with garlic butter sauce, potatoes, and vegetables.. for dessert I had the raspberries sorbet, This entire meal from start to finish was amazing and the ambassador that came and greeted us. She was wonderful. We hope to come back soon. . Just for reference this restaurant has an open back that overlooks Harris Pond with all the boats and sailboats to look at.. this is definitely upscale casual, but you can come in with shorts and after a few minutes you'll fit in fine. We had our wedding at Dockside in September of 2025 and it was simply amazing! The grounds are stunning and perfect backdrop for any wedding ceremony. The staff made us feel like the center of the universe from the very beginning of the planning process all the way until the end of the night. Our guests told us over and over again how special the venue felt and how great the staff was! The menu was delicious and easily customizable. We cannot wait to go back for the rest of our lives. We stopped in passing through town. While we couldn't get a seat in the dining room, thankfully they had 2 bar tables available. Their bar itself is very small with only 5 seats, and then 4 bar tables. Bar staff was lovely, attentive, and Tok care of us right way. The special scallops were delicious. They came with grilled chives which was something I never had before and will be adding to dishes I make at home. The fish and chips was average. This was our first time at Dockside. The cocktails were fabulous - I loved the Voodoo Punch (rum) and my wife had a Cosmo (she said it was very good). Our waitress Maddie was excellent - attentive, informative and all together lovely. She got us everything we asked for and was kind enough to answer my questions about safety and Covid. Quite frankly, I was shocked that NO ONE who worked at Dockside wore a mask. Most patrons did as they entered and took them off once seated at their table. We requested and were seated on the screened porch. The owners of Dockside must know how vicious the Delta Varient is. Why would they not want to protect their Staff? Maddie was double vaccinated and felt safe as much of the restaurant was near the large screened porch. I booked the restaurant for a Celebration of Life for my wonderful wife Liz. From the initial contact to the end of the celebration, Phil Lusty and his team could not have been more caring, professional, and competent. The weather cooperated and we were able to spread out onto the grounds and enjoy the stellar view of York Harbor. The food was spectacular and abundant. I don't know how they could have a better job. 5 stars for ambiance, 1 star for food, and 2 stars for service. Being lactose intolerant, I knew my menu choices would be limited, but I've accounted for this at all the other restaurants I eat at. However, skipping the sauce on top of my swordfish and just asking that it be grilled is no excuse for serving it unseasoned. Not under-seasoned - unseasoned. The salt shaker at my table was only half full, and now I can understand why. I have never needed to use the salt/pepper shakers so much in a restaurant before! The entire menu is boring and outdated, but they do a great business because of their location. My dinner was served with yellow squash and zucchini - seriously?!?!! You don't think we all have too much zucchini in our gardens this time of year already?!?! Also served were 2 red bliss potatoes - boring. My husband's cod was also unseasoned. The lobster spring roll was tasty, but they do not make it there - they only had to deep fry it. They managed to ruin the dish with the most bland corn salsa imaginable! The brussel sprouts were great, but I can get those anywhere, including my home, so this was my first and last time dining at the Dockside. Our server forgot about my lactose intolerance describing the delicious cheesecake from the dessert menu. I interrupted her and asked if there was anything on the dessert menu without dairy - there was not - not even a store-bought sorbet! I had never been to the Dockside, even after living in NE for 15 years! So, a friend of mine and I met there for Sunday dinner. Beautiful location - I have always liked York regardless. We were sat - it was busy in the dining room and it took I think about 15 minutes for us to even be greeted by our server and get some water? It was his first night on the floor, so I understand how that is. We ordered some delicious cocktails followed by dinner. I also enjoyed the tomato bacon panzanella salad which was delicious, and the schnitzel special. The special came with butternut squash soup on the side and two large pork schnitzels. Yummy! I probably should not have had the salad due to the size of the entree but both of us enjoyed our dinners. I'll come back the next time I come home! read more

The Dockside promises much and delivers little. The Wedding planner, Heather is all talk no action, a glorified waitress with little organization skills. Don't count on her to deliver what she promises. Even with contracts in hand we had nothing but trouble with her and costs kept adding up due to her lack of attention to detail. The rooms at 400 a night had a great view but they were tiny and antiquated. Nothing special. On the up side the food was good, the wait staff outside although not super friendly were attentive. Thank goodness everything we had booked ourselves with outside vendors and handled by us worked well. Having experienced this location I would say there are many other coastal locations who would be much better prepared and more upscale for the same price as this. read more

First time here. If you have allergies to any foods, don't go here. I specifically told the waitress my apple allergy and still wound up with pieces of apple in my food. She profusely apologized and told me she told the kitchen no apples. Luckily it's not a life threatening allergy, but I won't go here again. They didn't even take my salad off the bill. read more

Not very polite welcome from the get go. When asked the hostess what is her favorite item on the menu, she looked at me as if I asked for her social security number. We had a bad experience last year but figure we would give it another try I have celiac and ordered the baked fish and said no breadcrumbs or sauce on it as I have celiac. It came out as posted on the menu so I said that I requested it gluten free. She said oh yes Sorry and took it back to the kitchen. Within 5 minutes out comes what was suppose to be a new meal but as I was eating it there were still bread crumbs under the piece of fish. So they did what I asked them not to do is scrape off the crumbs. If you have any food allergy don't go their. Came tonight for dinner, food was mediocre at best..lacked flavor. The beer was flat. The fries were overdone and looked like they were cooked in dirty oil. Worst part was the shard of metal that my husband got in his dish. Service was slow (took 10 minutes to get extra dressing for my salad). Best part was was the view of the York River. read more

Loved this place. We sat outside and the view was stunning. They had a cornhole game to play while we waited which certainly kept the kids busy. I had swordfish which was amazing. Food is pretty standard tourist New England fare. I had the fried clams and they were very tasty. Could have been a few more and like most, they puff up the platter w French fries. One of us had a burger, we shared a couple apps. My wife had a delicious lobster roll albeit said it was small for $19. Service was um, not service. Our waitress had zero personality and no interest in speaking non essential words to us. It's hard to find seasonal help. I get that but a manager needs to realize you sell more when you engage. Also, people leave better tips when you make them feel welcome (or even alive). Dockside desserts are fantastic. Tho we didn't have any this time, I recommend them. They were both underwhelming portions that were tasteless and over priced. We came here last year and we're very pleased. My grandfather lives down the street from Dockside so whenever I'm home visiting, we hit up our old favorite. The food has been hit or miss over the years, but since the original owner's son took over the restaurant a year or two ago, the food has been much more consistent. It's never too crowded since it's off the beaten path, but the views alone are a great reason to go. The restaurant overlooks the harbor which is full of boats, and at low tide, lots of birds you don't see every day like great blue herons. I often get chowder or lobster, all of which are cooked well. If the baked lobster dish is on the menu, that is a must! Just delicious. They are very attentive with drinks (on more than one occasion I have stumbled out of there!), and will bring as much bread as you want. If you're looking for a quiet place that is popular with the locals with gorgeous New England scenery to boot, Dockside is your place. read more

Underwhelmed we live in the area and have eaten here several times. Today was a deal breaker .. The lobster roll was like shredded lobster meat no lettuce on the roll and a few French Fries .. the other 3 meals looked ok asked tor tarter sauce and ketchup it took her two trips one for each condiments.. I understand this year help is an issue but at least teach them . Never asked if we needed anything or asked how it was .. if the lobster roll looked like the picture the 30 price would be fine.. My wife and I went to Dockside for our anniversary on a recommendation, and were disappointed. My wife had the Sirloin which had good flavor, but also had a great deal of fat. I had the Haddock, which is supposed to be a specialty. The flavor was great, but it appeared to have been mass-produced and sat in the fridge for a while, and had a dry film over the whole fish. The worst part of the evening was the 20 minutes we had to wait for our check after our waitress saw we had finished our meal. Then, when she never came back to get the check, my wife got fed up and we took our payment to the front. The view was great, but service lousy. read more

If you're visiting this spot for dinner you need to be patient and appreciate the slower life of Maine. The food is made to order so it does take quite some time to come out after the order has been placed. The dishes were each unique, large portions and had beautiful presentation. The only loss of the fifth star was due to sitting at our table 10 minutes before any staff member came to greet us. Very disappointing. Had been here several years ago, and came back for the lovely dockside setting and Maine seafood. The food was so disappointing--priced high for the value, and uninteresting in both presentation and flavor. The waiter failed to note or mention that the sides listed on the menu were being replaced with other vegetables (and yours truly frequently decides on an entree based on my preferences for the sides served with it!) I let him know that the haricot vert listed were not on the plate, and I'm not sure he even knew what they were, or that zucchini had been subbed.... He was unconcerned... We decided to try because the menu looked good and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. We made a 7:30 reservation. Arrived and had to wait 10 min to be greeted by the hostess who literally went to the table and didn't ask us to follow her. When she didn't come back we decided to walk to table to find her. It took 15 min before the waitress came to our table so we promptly ordered drinks and an app. The mussels had several bad ones in the mix, which we picked out. Left a bad taste in the very bland sauce. We ordered soup and salad before our meal but the meal came out immediately after those were served. One entree of fish was cold. Sent back just to have the same cold fish served while the veggies were extremely hot. Probably microwaved. Not pleased with the service or most of the food. Not sure how the food is because our reservation was canceled before we even arrived without out being notified. Made a reservation online and called to confirm and we're told they "had to many reservations" but never called in advance so now a party of 8 is forced to scramble last minute for dinner on a Saturday night in a tourist area.
