Love this place! It made a real lobster roll lover out of me and my wife Already planning our next trip back! The OG Lobster roll , hot and slathered in butter is amazing! Very cool food hall with a lowkey vibe. This place is perfect for meeting friends for a drink or for pleasing indecisive eaters

I love visiting the Carlsbad Windmill Food Hall and decided to give Lobster Lab a try. Their menu isn't very large, I went with the Smoked Salmon but unfortunately it wasn't very good. It lacked flavor, and there was very little salmon for the price you pay. I went with a group, and they ordered the Lobster Roll and Shrimp Roll and had the same feedback. The sandwiches were mostly bread, with very little shrimp or lobster inside. The prices are also pretty high for the amount of seafood you actually get, which made the experience even more disappointing. The cashier was friendly, and the food hall itself is great goid ambiance because of the variety of dining options available, but this spot just wasn't for us. I'm glad I gave it a try once, but I wouldn't go back. Unfortunately, it just didn't feel like a good value for the price.

We ordered The crab roll and the lobster roll and a cup of lobster bisque. We spent 120 dollars for our meal but it was worth it. They have 3 sizes of the rolls and we got the medium For both rolls and they put a lot of meat !!! It was very very delicious. They have to make the order so it took them 15 min to make it. This place is located in a food hall and they have live bands. It's across the Carlsbad outlet, so very convenient. It's a casual vibe, find your table or share a table with somebody and pick up your food when your buzzer is on. Plenty of parking, noise level moderate ( without the band playing).

The Lobster Lab is located in the Windmill Food Hall. They not only serve lobster-related menu items. I got the premium tuna melt sandwich and it was very much worth it to me. The portion size was huge! It was the most beautiful tuna melt I've ever seen, packed with tuna and veggies. It came with a side of hot sauce packets. There's not much of an ambiance. It's just a stall/booth at the food hall. You'd order, get a device that buzzes when your order is ready, and find an available table at the food hall to enjoy the meal. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich and I'd gladly come back to have it again.

Visiting the area and glad to have found this place. Friendly and helpful service. Ambiance is decent. It's in a food hall. Deliciousness! Standard portion sizes. We all enjoyed our orders. I recommend not pouring the butter entirely (like I did) since the bread is already dipped and soaked in butter. Would recommend this place! Little one really enjoyed his lobster grilled cheese and ate all of it with the side of lobster bisque.

Delicious! We had the lobster roll and clam chowder. The lobster roll was SO good! The bread as perfection. Not just some dried out hoagie roll. It was toasted by soft and fluffy. I thought the lobster portion was generous. The calm chowder paired well. Not the best bowl I've ever had, but still good. You order at the counter and get a buzzer to pick up your food. The guy at the counter was cordial enough. It is a food hall, so there were lots of choices of cuisine. I'm glad we choose Lobster Lab. There are QR codes at each table so you can order there. Although we ordered at the counter ($30), we did check out the QR code. We were disappointed to see that for Lobster Lab, that the roll was cheaper ($29) in the app (no added fees to use the app). A dollar cheaper, but still a dollar! Overall, I'd go again.

YO this place was AMAZING. I totally lagged on writing this review, but I had to come back and give it a rave. First off, I was helped by the nicest lady behind the counter. She was so sweet and gave great recommendations. She probably upsold me and honestly... no regrets because the food was fantastic. I ended up going with the XL Lobster Roll and Caviar. The lobster roll was creamy, tender, tangy, fresh, and delicious. She was absolutely right about splurging for the extra lobster. The bun was perfectly toasted--soft and buttery in the middle with crispy edges. 10/10. The caviar came on brioche with herbed cream cheese, shaved egg, and chives. SO good. I already love anything with caviar, but the flavor combo here made it feel extra special. 10/10. It's also located inside a fun food hall with tons of different food options. It was honestly hard to decide what to try, but I followed my lobster-loving heart. Great spot for a group, or just to grab food, drinks, and people-watch. I was only in the area for the week, but I'll definitely remember this place next time I'm in Carlsbad.

This was my third time coming. I got the lobster roll in an attempt to try Something new each time. It was pricey but as an occasional treat, worth it. Especially since they don't skimp on toppings. I got the regular and it was over flowing with shrimp. The larger with 6 oz would have been too much. I worry that the prices will scare most costumers away. Every time I went they had the shortest wait/lone of all the food spots in the food hall. Lowering the prices by a couple bucks might hurt profit per item but bring in more customers. The food was great though so I do think it's worth it so far. Next time I'm in town I'll be going again.

Lobster Lab at the Windmill Food Hall is worth checking out. I went with the lobster roll and it was really good. Fresh, well put together, and satisfying. If you're walking through the food hall and trying to figure out what to get, this is a solid choice.

I came here while doing some shopping and was hungry. Lobster lab is inside Windmill Farms food court and there are a lot of great restaurants here! I was craving something seafood and the crab roll sounded delicious. Crab roll (regular) - $22, the portions are huge! They may look smaller in pictures but I can assure you that you are getting your moneys worth. Flavor was refreshing and delicious Clam Chowder (cup) - $12, piping fresh and hot, the clam chowder comes with 2 pieces of their delicious bread. Also worth the money in my opinion! I will definitely stop by again next time to try their lobster roll! Service was great and the man working was kind and patient with everyone. He even brought out an order for a customer.

We are huge lobster/seafood lovers so definitely wanted to check out the Lobster Lab on our trip to Carlsbad. First off loved the food hall and the ability to get food items from different spots and make your own meal. I got the clam chowder and it enjoyed it but wasn't the best I've ever had. My husband got the lobster grilled cheese he felt there was too much cheese compared to the lobster portion and really did not enjoy the lobster bisque. He felt the lobster bisque had a strange sweet flavor to it and lacked lobster flavor and meat.

OK, this almost got derailed! We saw the Lobster Lab (a weakness of this New Englander) and walked into - a gourmand's paradise of small boutique restaurants, colocated with a big-arse bar/patio. Everything looked fabulous (as it does when hungry!) A blood-orange beer helped me focus, back on the lobster rolls. And oh, were they done to perfection. Lightly toasted rolls with a hint of sweetness, lemon, butter, lobster and love. My son had shrimp, but I am not responsible for his eccentricities... Soooo good! Just have to stay focused!

I got their smoked salmon sandwich. "Amazing" is too boring of a word to describe this treat. As soon as I took a bite, I knew the friends I was with needed to try. I cut off a small piece for each of them and the look on their faces was obvious...they loved it as much as I did. One immediately said he was going to bring his wife back to try it. They all ordered from other restaurants in the food court, so I can't speak to the other food items here, but I felt like everyone wished they'd gotten this sandwich instead. The staff is wonderful. Not sure if employees or owners because they definitely give off owner vibes but are very humble. The person who took my order suggested his own addition of a balsamic glaze on the side for the sandwich. Not standard but said it was his thing so I tried it out. Excellent recommendation. Sandwich is fantastic either way, but the balsamic adds something definitely worthwhile. Can't wait to go back. read more

The bread was really good--soft, buttery, and lightly toasted, giving a nice crunch without covering up the lobster's flavor. Perfect lobster roll. Brioche bun, with huge claws of cold water lobby, and house made mayo. Literally couldn't put it down once I picked it up. Rich and decadent but not at all greasy. Will be hard to come to the windmill and not get one every-time. $24 is a steal for what you get. read more

I had the lobster grilled cheese and it was hands down the best lobster dish I've ever had. I talked to the owners and they are really passionate about sourcing high quality ingredients and working with local purveyors. It's clearly not just a business to them, but an art. So good. Really really good. I came in prepared that it was going to be almost $30 with tax, so set that aside. Sooo stinkin good. I was offered either cold with mayo or hot with butter. It's incredible that essentially everything on the menu is delicious. The lobster bisque was one of the creamiest and most flavorful I've ever had. I was initially hesitant on the Lobster Mac and cheese sandwich, but it was so meticulously created you can tell there is passion in each dish they prepare. As it turned out, the lobster Mac and cheese sandwich is now my new favorite. And what's insane is the only thing comparable to their tasty menu is their service. They are some of the nicest people and are very knowledgeable about each menu item. They can even give you recommendations when asked. Ordered a warm lobster roll and a tuna melt. The lobster roll lacked flavor and felt like there was too much bread. The tuna melt was completely cold. Even though the bread looked like it had been grilled/toasted, they must have assembled it cold with the cheese and tuna. First time in the windmill food hall and it is just a real exciting place to rest and relax with family and friends. One of the places to eat was the Lobster Lab and I was so pumped to have a lobster roll. I opted for the XL crab roll instead and boy, this thing looked beautiful. Deconstructed crab with a light sauce and fresh scallions on top with a perfect toasted roll. I wish my phone wasn't dead it was one of the most eye appeal food can deliver. Unfortunately my wife and I found large and small pieces of shell way to often for it to be an experience to rave about. Something about the taste threw me off as well but that could have been personal preference otherwise pretty tasty. While the roll overall is as pretty good, at 30 dollars, it's really not preferable to be spitting pieces of shell out. read more

if i could give then a negative 1 million review i would. My family and i ate there yesterday and we ordered clam chowder. on our way home we all had to stop the car and throw up. We GOT SEVERE FOOD POISONING. all of us including my sisters 1 yr old baby, her 4 yr old daughter, my sister, and ME. ALL were throwing up the rest of the night and had EXTREME stomach pains. We could barely stand and experienced TERRIBLE stomach cramps, nausea and DIARRHEA. I am traumatized and do not want to eat out anymore because of what happened. My family and I suffered. What makes me the most angry is that my sisters kids had to go through that pain. I am absolutely APPALLED that this establishment served us SUCH POISONOUS food. I almost called the police station yesterday to report this establishment because the amount of pain i was in. THIS IS NOT A FAKE REVIEW, this is the reality my family and CHILDREN had to experience the pain and absolute torture we all went through. PLS DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Hubby and I each had a nice cold Stella Artois. And then we all shared the butter cake dessert. Everything was delicious. I do wish all the meals were a bit warmer but they were still good. Our waitress was very attentive and even offered to bring us a new kids menu to bring home. If we lived closer we would definitely return. We do have a Kings fish house local to us, we may have to see if the service is just as good.

We were pleasantly surprised with how they took care of our accommodations especially since there were 16 of us going to their restaurant. When were greeted and seated right away. The food selection here is great. Different types of crabs and other hot dishes that are different from the ones I've had here in San Diego. Staff was very attentive and took care of us the whole time. This location also has pretty good parking too. Highly recommend this spot and hope to visit it again when we go to Carlsbad.

l have discovered a small place in Carlsbad today . l have no idea that you can make a such a delicious lobster sandwich, perfectly done with perfect combination of ingredients put together to sensationalize your taste buds , it was delicious . fist not knowing how l would like it , l ordered the small size , but after enjoying it immensely l ordered one to go . it's really delicious and fulfilling . l tired their clam chowder while l waited and with a touch of Tabasco and fresh lemon it just hit the spot . give them a try next time you are in the area, it will not disappoint. read more

I was curious about Lobster Lab and decided to try it out today--and I'm so glad I did! This little gem is conveniently located near the supercharger, making it a perfect stop. We ordered the lobster grilled cheese and the regular lobster sandwich, and both were absolutely delicious. However, if you're stuck on which to choose, I personally recommend the lobster grilled cheese--it was the standout for me! If you're looking for a place that will always hit the spot, this is it. We made the trip from LA just to try the Lobster Roll, Lobster Grilled Cheese, and Caviar--and it was totally worth it. If you haven't tasted these amazing flavors yet, this spot should be at the top of your list. The portions are generous and the dishes are as beautifully presented as they are delicious. The best lobster roll and lobster grilled cheese I've ever had, heads down. It's very obvious that they care about their customers and the customer experience. The food is very delicious, fresh and high in quality. I loved that they didn't try to sell but rather really interested in what I like and dislike. We came here from LA just to eat Lobster Roll, Lobster Grilled Cheese and Caviar. If you haven't tried these flavors before, this place must be your first stop. Menus and portions are very filling. The presentation is as wonderful as the flavors. We love Lobster Lab! They are also giving moist towelette, I've never see this anywhere in USA. The service at Lobster Lab was very nice. Friendly and attentive staff made for a pleasant experience. The lobster grilled cheese was delicious, rich and perfectly toasted. However, the lobster roll was a letdown. It was bland and lacking the bold flavor you'd expect. To spend $80 on dinner, we expected a lot better. It was a big disappointment. read more

Good food! Nice service! Couldn't tell that this establishment was already open at Windmill. LOVE the clam chowder- it's on the creamier side like New England style (as opposed to San Francisco style). Hard to find, and happy that this place is here! read more
