This is the lobster taco and shrimp ceviche.
    Jenna L.

Stopped here for a quick dinner after being on the beach all day. I like the layout because there's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating both tables and at the bar. Easy order at the counter, they give you a number and then you sit wherever you want. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and a lobster taco. I wanted the Ecuadorian ceviche which was on the specials menu, but they were all out. I would give the service a 10/10 but the food a 5/10. Not super tasty IMO. There were like 6 tiny pieces of shrimp in the ceviche, the rest was tomato. The ingredients were fresh but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here and I wouldn't bring a friend or family member here either. It's convenient being close to the beach but that's about it.

Had a lunch here with my work supervisors. Overall pleased with our choices simply due to their taste and fair portion size. My plate of salmon, vegetables, and jasmine rice hit the spot. The rice was a let down, but the salmon and vegetable mix was awesome! A beautiful blend of flavor, cooked to perfection. Their pricing is pretty steep, but at least the food lived up to a solid choice for lunch. Parking isn't great, but this is to be expected considering we are against the coast and the street is lined up with small businesses/restaurants.. Service was pretty decent, the waitresses were friendly. There was not much of a lunch rush, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Oceanside Fish Shop! I was definitely missing out. I stopped by while getting my smog check next door, and I loved the layout. Nice bar selection with both spirits and brews. Service was simple - order, grab a seat, and they bring out your food. Non-alcoholic drinks are self-serve. Not bad at all. The staff were friendly and professional. I ordered 2 tacos, onion rings, and a soda for $32. A little over budget if I were bringing the whole family, but for my solo adventure, it was well worth it. I loved the tacos and definitely preferred the grilled bass over the fried. The amount of veggies piled on top was perfect. My favorite part was the onion rings. The batter and the size were on point! Regardless of the cost, I'm bringing the family back to try it. Big fan!

They said you can bring your pup with you to order at the counter!

3.5 stars, rounded up for service and being dog-friendly. I had been wanting to try this spot since before they opened, but I never want to visit a new restaurant too soon (I like for places to get their kinks out). The fish was delicious but the sides were "meh". The onion rings could use a double-fried coating and the cole slaw was forgettable. I look forward to trying more of the menu; I love the tacos from the Encinitas location and my friend ordered a mahi mahi sandwich that looked really good. Pros: - friendly - food presentation - dog-friendly - clean restrooms - more seating that expected - open kitchen - walkable location to other activities Cons: - very pricey - sides are "just okay" - parking sucks

The only reason I'm not giving one star is because at least we didn't get sick from Oceanside Fish Shop's food. The first time I ate at the Fish Shop brand was at the location in Pacific Beach. I had a blackened swordfish sandwich several years ago there, and remembered it as being juicy, fresh and delicious. So when I saw this new location open up in North County, we decided to try it. I would guess the No. County restaurant is not owned or run by the same people as the PB restaurant. I say this because the Oceanside food is not even a smidgen close to the QUALITY or TASTE of the Pacific Beach location. Two dinners were both awful. Both dinners - all wrong. A fish n chips plate turned out to be a disaster, both in quality and taste. First, there was an immediate unmistakable bad fish smell upon delivery by DoorDash. Not only was the fish not fresh, it was over-fried way past golden brown; it was more like dark brown with a bitter taste. The 'chips' (fries) were replaced with onion rings at an additional cost. They also had the same dark hue, but no crunch whatsoever in either item on that plate. The mahi-mahi sandwich was a piece of very thin sliced mahi mahi. Overcooked and dry asf, at least the blackening rub was tasty. It's disappointing. I really liked their quaint Pacific Beach location, but after this bad experience, we won't be going back to the Oceanside Fish Shop location again.

I absolutely love this place. I had previously been to their location down in San Diego. This place has a great indoor outdoor seating area with tons of TVs to watch the World! It's so fun to mix and match the taco options. Let's go around. They had fresh halibut which I got as a fried fish taco and then I also had a taco with the seared ahi with the teriyaki marinade. Both tacos were absolutely to die for. The tacos are massive and they don't skimp on the protein the way most places do, two tacos is plenty, but it is definitely hard to choose only two from all the options. Tried the mahi and shrimp ceviche it was so acidic in the best kind of way! I probably would just try the mahi ceviche or the shrimp ceviche instead of the mixed. Planning on going back this weekend and trying a few more combos for their fish tacos!

First time here. Won't be my last! A friend encouraged me to check this spot out and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Rolled in early (4:30pm-ish) so it wasn't too busy and on the quieter side. You walk in and order at the counter. The staff were helpful and attentive. Stoked they had a Padres game on as well. I ordered the shrimp and two dorado tacos. Everything was delicious. The shrimp was soooo good. Will definitely order again. The tacos were really good but not actually spicy. The whole menu looks great though. I'll be back soon.

    Fish and chips.

Okay the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because the parking does suck. What do you expect on Coast Highway-so, you just have to be prepared to walk a little bit. Fish and chips and a cup of the clam chowder was tasty! It's a serve yourself kind of place, just place your order at the register-the different types of fish and type of season are plenty to choose from. There are plenty of seats to choose from, the vibe is so chill.

This is the new spot!! Super good and fresh with multiple fish and entree options. You pick your fish, then the seasoning and then if you wand a taco, salad or sandwich. The place is nice and clean with outside seating. The food is so good, sandwiches hit! Definitely check this place out for a feel good healthy option.

TKO and Elote tacos on the outdoor shaded patio

This was my second time at Fish Shop in Oceanside and it won't be my last. This causal spot has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with shade so it's a perfect spot for a nice day. I got the TKO and Elote tacos and both were delicious and had unique flavors. They don't skimp on the fish or toppings which makes them well worth the price you pay. You order your food at the counter and the person ringing us up was helpful and went back to the kitchen to ask about gluten questions I had. They also were attentive and took away our plates quickly when we were done.

Grilled halibut with light garlic butter, Cole slaw and onion rings.
    Kathy S.

Overall rating 4.5 Stopped by on Easter after a long beach walk and ordered a plate to go. The "catch of the day" was Halibut, which I got grilled along with Cole slaw and onion rings for the two sides. The halibut was a large piece. The fish ate dry, probably because I got it to go. Made fish tacos with the leftover halibut. The service was great. I stopped a server as soon as I came in and she was going to take me to the bar to order, then said she'd take care of me. Gave me a water cup while I waited. The young woman who brought out the order said she put in extra ranch, it was great on the onion rings. Will definitely try again, eating there vs to go. Was curious if the ladies room still had the disco lights from the prior place but didn't check it out.

Salmon, fries and seaweed salad. Yummy!!

We got our food in no time!! I call that fast service!! I ordered fried fish and fries with seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was amazing!!! I wanted more!! Our server was great she kept coming back to make sure if we needed anything else or refill on water or soda. Place is super nice. Love to come back again soon!!

Stopped by on a Friday afternoon right before the rush. While we waited for our food the line moved out to the sidewalk. We didn't wait more than 10 mins for our food to come out. We ordered a large ceviche bowl and it came with chips and a salmon sandwich. The food tasted great. We enjoyed our seats although. Y the bar although if you're there when the sun is setting it might be in your eyes for a while but adjusting your seat will do the trick. They had all the tvs on playing basketball games. Overall good experience. The bathrooms were clean. Only street parking is available.

Saw they had burritos, so I ordered their harbor burrito. What I received was a tiny burrito (see picture) with no salsa. When I went back in to ask for salsa, they handed me several Heinz taco sauce packets. Seriously? I'm not asking for fresh made salsa/pico here, but at least some store bought salsa, even Tapatio would suffice. When I bit into my burrito, I felt and heard a loud crunch. The tortilla was overcooked and crunchy. I also had to wait 10 minutes for my burrito to cool down enough to edible levels. The "Italian sausage" advertised was hot dog. Literal hot dog. Ridiculous! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that their seafood and sandwiches are better, but I'm never eating here again, so I guess I'll never know. +1 star for said benefit of the doubt. *Note: The prices advertised are not current. When I asked the cashier why the burrito was $3 more than advertised, she pointed to a tiny sticky note on the menu that was curved so far it was not immediately readable that stated, "Prices are subject to change." No explanation, just point.

Ordered the Small Boston White Clam Chowder ($6.99), 3 Piece Fish & Chips with fries ($21.99), and the Sea Bass Plate ($25.99) which came with two sides - opted for Spanish rice and black beans. The clam chowder was just okay and nothing particularly special. The sea bass with garlic butter was a little bland and definitely needed some hot sauce or tartar sauce for extra flavor. The Spanish rice also tasted like it had been sitting out for a while and was a little dry. I did appreciate that the black beans came topped with some cheese and were served in a little tostada bowl - a nice touch. The fish and chips were hands down the best thing we ordered. The fish had a super crispy batter and the fries were crispy as well. Definitely the standout of the meal.
