Harbor Fish and Chips is a restaurant located in the Oceanside Harbor Village. There's plenty of seating inside and outdoors with a view of the docked boats. I came on a Friday where they served a sampler special. It came with one fried fish, two fried shrimp, coleslaw, clam chowder, fries, and crackers. The clam chowder was especially delicious. For about $21, it's fantastic value. I also had the two piece fish and chips, which is perfect for shareable. One thing to note is the fried fish pieces are large - portion size is great here. There's a self serve station for grabbing ketchup, tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and lemon wedges. The service was quick and friendly. The person who took my order explained the portion sizes and menu items very well. Overall, I had a fantastic meal and would 100% dine here again the next time I'm back in Oceanside. read more

Harbor Fish & Chips is one of those places that never needed to change because they got it right the first time. The fish is always fresh, flaky, and never fishy tasting. The batter is light, crisp, and not greasy, which is exactly what you want from good fish and chips. Add their tartar sauce, a little malt vinegar, and honestly one of the best coleslaws around, and the whole plate just comes together perfectly. The shrimp was also a hit with us. Big, crispy shrimp with just the right amount of batter so it still feels light and not overwhelming. This made for such a great family lunch, but we've been coming here for over 10 years, so nothing about this is surprising. It is just as good as it was the first time, and it truly never misses. read more

Got two orders of 3 piece fish n chips for the beach. Service was good and quick. Some pieces of fish were good. A couple pieces were more breading than fish. We still ate it all. Fish n chips were greasy but fish n chips are always greasy. Restaurant was clean n tidy. Tartar sauce is always good. It's good O-side beach food. read more

You're on the harbor, looking out at the harbor. 10/10 for location. The bowl of clam chowder comes in a paper cup which I didn't care for. The clam chowder itself is decent. Solid 7/10 for the chowder. Fish & chips is fried in avocado oil now, which is great. Still a lil too greasy but good nonetheless. Fries were a lil overcooked but decent. I would definitely come back again to try more of the menu. Solid 4/5. Great location. They also openly say you don't have to tip if you don't want to which I appreciate. Still tip ppl! I saw someone's burger order and it looked amazing. Will be back to try that burger! read more

Counter service restaurant right on the water in the harbor. Probably the best fish and chips I've ever head!! Cole slaw was good as well. Had bottled beer available. Cocktail sauce had no horseradish in it that I could taste. It was more like ketchup and hot sauce I will definitely go back next time I'm in town!! read more

It takes me a couple of tries to really review a place. After my 4th time back here I'm a fan, that's how you know this place values quality. The shrimp is fantastic and the fish just pairs well with the 3 sauces they let you try! The lovely people that run this place makes you believe this is home. (small tip, I ALWAYS get the small clam chowder on the side. Trust me it's worth it.) read more

I've had this restaurant bookmarked for about 15 years. Lack of parking can really deter me from visiting a place. Well, today I met my fish and chips connoisseur friends here. Parking wasn't that bad but it was a little walk. We all ordered the fish and chips. We had the Captain's special that came with 2 pieces fish, 2 shrimps, and fries. We had a nice seat outside by the water. The lady at the register was super friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. We all started eating. The first thing we all noticed was how greasy the fish(and shrimp) were. The fish was also pretty thin, not a nice chunk of cod like we are used to. The fish was very similar to a piece of tilapia. My husband and my friend had a hollow crust too as there was just batter and no fish on the ends. Overall, disappointing after waiting this long to try it. read more

Small Fish & Chips ($14) - The highlight was the batter, which was perfectly crispy. I wish it was a thicker cut of fish, but it was still so good and paired well with their tartar sauce and malt vinegar. I also appreciated how thick the fries were, but they could've had more seasoning. read more

It's a great place for fish and chips and most importantly one of the cheaper options when it comes to what you get. 3 fish and chips for 21$ is definitely on the better side when it comes to sea food. I do enjoy the fact that it's right on the harbor water. Staff is really nice and helpful with suggestions so that is definitely a positive. read more

Probably and easily the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Firstly, they only have cod for their fish and chips. If you know fish, you know thats the worst to have cause is not even fulfilling or meaty. Is a skinny strip covered with fried batter. The taste was horrible, I had to use extra salt and at least their fish sauce was good. I kept dipping the fish on it. Don't even get me started on the fries. Hard and slightly burnt. No flavor other than their avocado oil. Needless to say, I went to my room with a stomach ache that is lasting a little longer than I'd like. My escort had the fish tacos. Same, it look gigantic and he was so excited but it deflated as he took a bite. Same kind of deal a ton of fried batter and a skinny slice of cod. 50 bucks wasted. I don't recommend it at all. It was rather empty compared to the other spots and now I know why. Will not be coming back and I hope to forget the whole experience. read more

Awesome! Not often do I say that, for an order at the counter, fast food place. But Harbor Fish & Chips was awesome! And sitting out by the Harbor watching the boats come and go and the setting sun, amazing! Full disclosure, I'm not a big fish fan, unless it's shellfish, I don't like the fishy taste and everyone tells you, "this doesn't taste fishy" and it does. And this was the best fish I've ever had. It was so delicious melt in your mouth and literally no fish flavor at all. We had the Fish Taco, it's big, hanging out on both ends with their fried fish. 5/5 Shrimp, battered and a little spicy (not hot just flavor) flavor to it. 5/5 Fish and chips, so tender and yummy! 5/5 Comes with fries or Cole Slaw. Cocktail sauce, Tartar sauce and katchup plus other available condiments. I noticed they had hamburgers and chicken sandwiches available as well, but truly you should try the fish! OMG I'm still dreaming of the food from here. Made a stop on the way to San Diego and I wish I had not because I want more! Lol The harbor was busy and parking can be difficult to find. The guy working the counter was welcoming and friendly and took our order quickly. There are quite a few tables inside and outside as well. We got the sampler plate which comes with fish, shrimp, fries, clam chowder and coleslaw. This was the best fried fish I've ever had. The batter was crispy with good flavor it didn't even need the malt vinegar or tartar sauce. Best clam chowder I've had to date and coleslaw was so fresh and tasty. SUCH BIG FISHHH!! I think one of the biggest fish i ever had but it was as very good! They have plenty of seating indoor and outdoor and there is nearby free parking. Vibes are right at the beach so perfect for fish and chips. Im also obsessed with the coldslaw. read more

I think they have some of the best fish & chips in San Diego The fish is so delicious & the batter/fish ratio is perfect. It's not overly greasy or super thick of a batter. This place is absolutely delicious! I went on a Friday after work. I got the fish and chips. I love that the sauces are self served. It was busy for Friday. But you have an ocean view front with great music and a great location. The cost for the six piece fish and chips along with a drink was roughly about $23 but the pieces were huge. I loved all of it. For some good solid fish and chips and clam chowder, Harbour Fish & Chips is our go-tonplace when traveling in the northern San Diego County. The Harbour view provides a nice and relaxing ambience on a warm and sunny day...pretty much most of the year! Prices are typical, seafood options are typical of these restaurants, and service is what you'd expect at these casual fast casual places. There is dining inside and outside. I've not dined indoors nor their covered patio. It's not the embassy and cleanest so I opt foe one of the outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas. If your lucky, you can grab one that has been just vacated and cleaned off. This is probably the downside to this place is the lack of attentive service and cleanliness. But we love the food here and especially dining alfresco. read more

I wish I could give this place a good review. But I'm a foodie and I expect good quality, especially when you're paying good prices.. I ordered a Chef daily special of fish and chips and prawns. The tartar sauce came out of a jar, so it was not homemade and all mayonnaise based and just gross.. The fish was so thin and only 20% of the fish was fish, and 80% was the batter. Completely blew me away.. I'll never go back here read more

While hanging out at the beach. I started craving fish. This place was right across the street and they had the best fried fish (Cod). The views of the water is good. The fish hit the spot. Located at the marina in Oceanside, this is a very casual restaurant with ample seating both inside and out. To start off, they cook with avocado oil. This must be a new thing since there was a sign at the entrance. Everything we ordered was light, crispy, season perfectly and was cooked up upon order. The portions were pretty generous, and the fish filet was huge. You can either get coleslaw or fries as your "chips". The clam chowder was just OK, but it was still a very, very satisfying meal. Loved those place. Been awhile since have fish and chips this good. Fresh hot not soggy fish and fries. Stayed crisp through eating. The clam chowder was hot tasty. With a standard flavor. They also have big cups to put the condiments in. Wife had the Friday special. 1 piece fish, 2 pieces of shrimp, cold slaw, fries, and chowder, witch we split. All in all recommended. It's been years since I had harbor fish and chips and it still tastes great! We decided to walk the harbor and down to the beach. On the way back it was a perfect spot to eat before heading home. I loved that they had an ingredient book handy for when I told them about my daughter's allergies. Service was friendly, we must of got there right when people were leaving because we got a table real quick and the food came out fast. Everything was amazing and they have a nice sauce area to grab yourself. Inside was very shark and fishing theme and my son loved it. Established in 1969.

As a family owned and operated business Harbor Fish and Chips has been a mainstay at the Harbor for over 50 years. Harbor Fish and Chips has been recognized several times in magazines and on local T. V. for our authentic fish and chips, fish tacos and seafood menu. Our commitment to preparing great tasting food and offering diners a fun, casual atmosphere has won us many fans over the years. Our owner, Terry Cross, was born and raised in Oceanside. Terry has continued the family tradition at Harbor Fish and Chips by keeping the quality of food at a high standard, while establishing a friendly - fun customer service atmosphere. This has made his restaurant one of the local's favorites. We had reservations for a party of 9 last night. The table was set up nicely and accommodated a few extra if needed, which I thought was cool. We started with some adult beverages: an Old Fashion, some Hotel Nacionals, a Fashionably Late, and a couple of beers. Everything started great. Dennis, our server was very cool and friendly and gave great suggestions. We ordered the mac and cheese sides and they were delicious with huge pieces of savory bacon in them. We also ordered the brussel sprouts which we never received and didn't even realize it until the very end when we received the bill because of all the other issues we had... but we'll get to that in a moment. So I'm not sure what happened last night at Flying Pig...missing and charged brussel sprouts, steak overcooked, missing mushrooms, mashed potatoes instead of grits, then a comped dessert promised but never delivered. They automatically got their 20% gratuity for our party of 9 but anyone that knows me knows how much I absolutely love great service combined with exceptional food and that could have easily been a 30-35% tip had they been on their A game!
