We called ahead for reservations at The Lobster Shop and they gave us a table with a really nice waterfront view, which made for a great dining experience. The $40 lobster roll was good and packed with a lot of lobster meat, although the butter on the bread was a little overpowering and made it harder to taste the lobster itself. The shoestring fries were absolutely delicious though. The lobster bisque was tasty and comforting, but slightly too salty for our preference. They also had a nice selection of beers on tap and wine to choose from. One of the highlights of the meal was the ahi tuna nachos special -- they were absolutely scrumptious. Service was also very friendly, everyone was helpful. However the main hostess, (dark hair gal, little short with glasses) was not friendly to the staff or guests. Trying WAY too hard to be fancy and it sucks. 5oz Lobster Tail: we went literally for the lobster. For a place named Lobster shop we were very excited, but again, we were disappointed. Lobster was chewy and had no flavor. The only part that saved it was DUNKING it in the lobster sauce so I wouldn't have to taste the lobster itself. If you're looking for GOOD Quality Lobster, the Cliff House in browns point was dramatically better. Matched the price with the quality. No one in that kitchen can season or cook. One of which was a sweet potato that almost tasted undercooked as it wasn't soft. Very under seasoned steak, the first time my husband didn't finish a steak in his life. Came to Tacoma for a week long work trip. Decided to do dinner with friend/family. She let me know it was restaurant week so I ordered the special deal for the week. Very beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. We were greet warmly and was seat at a table so we could see the gorgeous views and bay. Our waiter was patient and gave us great recommendations. Now the food love a Caesar salad but definitely not seeing the sardine lol but the salad was tasty. I haven't had beef stroganoff in years but this one was soo yummy and rich with steak. Definitely have had a couple of experiences since my last review for Lobster Shop, so it deserved an update and an extra star! Both experiences have happened post renovation and both have been for dinner. Views are impeccable here and there's not a bad table in the place! I went last night for dinner with my family and the menu has changed since the last time we dined in. The dinner we had last year was awesome, and so was last night's. We started with the Baked Lobster Dip for the table which is essentially a lobster & artichoke dip. So delicious, and highly recommend! There were 4 of us and it was plenty for us all to share. Next up we also ordered the Lobster Bisque - it's a tried and true favorite and I literally can't come here without ordering it. For my entree I ended up steering away from seafood and got the Filet Mignon with potato cakes and vegetables. The filet was cooked to perfectionnnn and satisfied my steak craving. The veggies were also good. The potato cakes were honestly super lackluster and had a weird flavor about them - I tried bites of my dad's garlic mashed potatoes and those were WAY better. Definitely suggest ordering those instead. To wrap it up, we ordered the famous Peanut Butter Pie and OH MYYYY. 100000/10, highly highly recommend. The waiter was telling us they just brought it back and that the entire staff fought to get it back on there, and KUDOS to them because it's phenomenal. Never take it off again!! Lobster Shop is a really nice, kinda fancy restaurant in the Tacoma area. Prices were kinda on the high end but we were looking forward to a nice dinner Post-Christmas day. We ordered clam chowder, fried calamari, filet mignon, prawn scampi and crème brûlée for dessert. The clam chowder was kinda disappointing. It was a shallow bowl and I didn't care for the taste and neither did my girls. The calamari was very tender and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium rare. The prawns were just alright. We returned to the Lobster Shop after its renovation and new ownership and REALLY REALLY had a great time. This time around, I experienced it as a treat from a friend, and have no clue what we ended up spending but I can say that all meals were enjoyed. We had a little bit of every protein on the menu between all of the people at our table and there were no complaints. We saved room for dessert and were not disappointed. The place was not very busy the whole time we were here. I want to give a special shout out to our server, Rachel, she was fun and attentive. We ordered the 3 course special that runs till 530. Clam chowder was first. I'd give that 5 stars alone. It was tasty and you actually had pieces of clams in it that weren't teeny tiny. The main course... was meh ok. It was just barely warm... the butter glob on top of the salmon didn't even melt, so that got flicked to the side, the entree was fine but nothing out of this world where I'm going to want it again. The salmon was cooked well and I know it's fish but I was picking bones out constantly. The crème brûlée was okay, decent flavor and the sugar too was perfect but half of it was not quite set all the way and a bit runny. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience and from my last visit was an improvement. If I had just got clam chowder with Rachel as my server... definitely would've been a 5 star experience. read more

Took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day dinner. The service was on time for our reservation. The waitress, Diane was phenomenal. She was very accommodating. She had drinks in front of us in no time. Food options were great. What a wonderful restaurant! The food was delicious. That lobster roll with melted butter was so comforting that I wanted more of it! The lobster bisque was so smooth and tasty, especially with that broth. My husband, John, enjoyed his sole fish with succotash. The ambiance was great. Nice calming ocean/dock view was beautiful. We took advantage of the progressive hour oysters and were not disappointed. Note that happy hour only takes place in the bar area; if you are seated in the regular dining area, you are not going to be able to order from happy hour menu. Specifically made the reservations for 4 o'clock, so that way we can enjoy happy hour. After we were seated, we were then told that happy hour is only at the bar and the lounge. that was totally fine we had no problem moving to the bar or lounge. and that if we would like they could go check to see how long the wait time is on the bar with management and I said yes please that would be great. our waiter gave me the dirtiest and most judgmental look on his face. Came back 3 minutes later and said actually we don't know the wait time you'll just have to go up there yourself and check it out and look. Then having to go back by the front door to wait AGAIN after we were already seated? who do you guys have running this establishment? The fact that we didn't even eat in here and I had the worst experience in my dining industry within the first seven minutes of even being at this restaurant should tell you enough. I'm absolutely embarrassed and humiliated. Making your patrons go up to the bar and make them stare at other people enjoying their meal to see if they are almost done eating. There were a few things that were decent (lobster bisque) but we were a party of 7 and all thought most of it was just OK. Several mains came out cold and even when reheated were not great. The best thing about my overpriced tenderloin was the broccolini. They seemed to know there were issues and brought us 3 cream brûlée on the house, one of which was completely liquid and barely cooked. So odd. Overall, way overpriced for the quality of the food. The ambience paralleled the meal - bright lights in a cold room with vaulted ceilings and 90s decor. Went here for our anniversary, made reservations in advance, requested specific seating and they weren't able to accommodate (although the table in that section we wanted was open-nobody seated) - no big deal. Very nice waiter, absolutely such a nice guy. The Lobster Dip was great! As well as lobster stuffed mushrooms - to die for! I was fairly disappointed with the entrees, I ordered the Lamb and it came stringy with the texture of a pot roast, very salty sauce that more sounded like it would be a "berry" taste. Disappointed to say the least. As for my husband he got the scallops, they were not flavorful, fairly bland - cooked correctly though.
