The Lobster Shop is such a great spot for waterfront dining in Tacoma. It feels like an elevated dining experience without being stuffy, and the views are fantastic. Easy parking is always a huge plus, and there is plenty of seating both outside over the water and inside with beautiful views. We started with the calamari and French onion soup, and both were excellent. The appetizers were actually some of my favorite things we ordered! They had bay shrimp available as part of a salad, but my husband was really craving a shrimp cocktail. The chef was happy to accommodate the request, and my husband was so happy! The shrimp were incredibly fresh and delicious. We also tried the scallop special and the halibut, and both were very good. The bar is extensive, and they were happy to make us a few off-menu drinks, which we really appreciated. The restaurant itself if beautiful and has wonderful views! Such a perfect spot for Summer Happy Hour. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We came during a slower time, which worked out perfectly because we were able to get a great window seat with a beautiful view. The service was wonderful from start to finish. Our waiter was attentive, kept our water glasses full throughout the meal, and boxed up our leftovers for us without us even having to ask. My partner ordered the Cajun Seafood Pasta ($28), and it was absolutely delicious. It was rich, full of flavor, and seasoned really well. I ordered the Connecticut Lobster Roll ($42), which came with warm lobster on a buttery roll and a side of house-made potato chips. The lobster was tender, and the buttery flavor really made the sandwich stand out. We also took a slice of the peanut butter pie ($14) to go, and it was incredibly rich, creamy, and packed with peanut butter flavor. A perfect dessert if you're a peanut butter lover. The only thing I'd love to see is a few more non-alcoholic drink options, but it definitely didn't take away from an overall excellent experience. Came for a large family dinner and immediately wowed by the view! Drinks were good, staff were friendly and attentive. Apps came out - fried calamari, lobster dip and crab cakes. Both I liked both the calamari and crab cakes more than the dip, but that's just a personal preference bc people in my party were going back for seconds and thirds of the dip! We were a very large (25+ party) so it took a little bit of time for the food to come out (but the apps held me over and it was fine). For my entree I got the 13 oz lobster tail and it was DEFINITELY huge!!! I've had lobster that was more tender, but the size of this was huge and I'm not a big asparagus girl, but the mashed potatoes were DIVINE!! Ended the night with the flourless chocolate cake and it was dense and rich and gooey- hands down the best flourless chocolate cake I've ever had. We called ahead for reservations at The Lobster Shop and they gave us a table with a really nice waterfront view, which made for a great dining experience. The $40 lobster roll was good and packed with a lot of lobster meat, although the butter on the bread was a little overpowering and made it harder to taste the lobster itself. The shoestring fries were absolutely delicious though. The lobster bisque was tasty and comforting, but slightly too salty for our preference. They also had a nice selection of beers on tap and wine to choose from. One of the highlights of the meal was the ahi tuna nachos special -- they were absolutely scrumptious. Service was also very friendly, everyone was helpful. However the main hostess, (dark hair gal, little short with glasses) was not friendly to the staff or guests. A fun happy hour menu with plenty of variety but again, nothing to rave about. You're paying for the ocean view, and decently upscale type of vibe. Stopped in for dinner after afternoon at Dash Point. First time visit - will definitely go back. Got there about 3:50pm and we headed to the bar and had a drink while we waited. Cassie, the bartender was gracious and ambidextrous to boot! Mixes a lovely margarita. I had a Bodi! Seated at 4:15pm on the patio (we lucked out they had an opening). It is a delightful patio. But that's about all the compliments I have. We did not like a single dish at this restaurant, and the prices are far from reflecting the quality of the dishes. Appetizers: * Calamari: Presentation was lack luster. However, what shocked us the most was that this was probably the worst calamari we have ever had. It was breaded and crispy, however the actual calamari itself was so slimy and just unappetizing. * Crab Cakes: Not the worst thing but it wasn't very appetizing either and I couldn't eat my full crab cake. Entrees: * Lobster Risotto: this was the worst risotto I have ever had. Especially from a place called "Lobster Shop", I assumed lobster would be a good choice. Risotto is meant to be creamy, this was PILED with cheese. I've never had a risotto where when I pick it up with my fork, it comes with a cheese pull??? It was so overcooked and mushy, my husband tried it and was baffled that I could even eat as much as I did of it. The lobster on top had no flavor other than a weird burnt taste/smell. * Steak : The saddest diner-type presentation for a $75 steak, came with two sides of potatoes? One of which was a sweet potato that almost tasted undercooked as it wasn't soft. Very under seasoned steak, the first time my husband didn't finish a steak in his life. Definitely have had a couple of experiences since my last review for Lobster Shop, so it deserved an update and an extra star! Both experiences have happened post renovation and both have been for dinner. Views are impeccable here and there's not a bad table in the place! I went last night for dinner with my family and the menu has changed since the last time we dined in. The dinner we had last year was awesome, and so was last night's. We started with the Baked Lobster Dip for the table which is essentially a lobster & artichoke dip. So delicious, and highly recommend! There were 4 of us and it was plenty for us all to share. Next up we also ordered the Lobster Bisque - it's a tried and true favorite and I literally can't come here without ordering it. For my entree I ended up steering away from seafood and got the Filet Mignon with potato cakes and vegetables. The filet was cooked to perfectionnnn and satisfied my steak craving. The veggies were also good. The potato cakes were honestly super lackluster and had a weird flavor about them - I tried bites of my dad's garlic mashed potatoes and those were WAY better. Definitely suggest ordering those instead. To wrap it up, we ordered the famous Peanut Butter Pie and OH MYYYY. 100000/10, highly highly recommend. The waiter was telling us they just brought it back and that the entire staff fought to get it back on there, and KUDOS to them because it's phenomenal. Never take it off again!! This remains my go to happy hour spot. If you love oysters as much as I do, it will likely become yours as well. They offer fresh selections of oysters each day at happy hour prices from 3-6pm. The lobster roll is the most buttery and fulfilling shot of natural flavor I've ever gotten from a lobster roll. My son downed three of these!! Another fave is mine is the calamari. I love the beautiful plating and substantial size of the calamari. They are always perfectly crisp and fresh. Lastly, but equally tasty are the sweet and spicy shrimp. For our 50th anniversary, we chose this restaurant. It was very busy when we arrived for our 6:30 reservation. We had to wait while several other groups were seated. We had a small table with a lovely view.It was very noisy in there. The waitress was friendly and took a picture for us. We ordered calamari for our appetizer. I didn't like the dip. The little loaf of bread was a bit tough and the balls of butter too firm to spread. I had the lobster bisque which was tasty. He had the wedge salad, his favorite . I had the seafood Louie. The salad dressing was not to my liking, so I ate the bits of seafood and left the rest. He had the cioppino which he enjoyed. The waitress brought two spoons and said there would be a surprise free dessert for our anniversary , but we waited and waited until finally the server said the kitchen was behind. Did we want to do take out or wait for it to be presented in the restaurant. We chose take it to go. It was a very small portion of crème brûlée in a plastic container. Lobster Shop is a really nice, kinda fancy restaurant in the Tacoma area. Prices were kinda on the high end but we were looking forward to a nice dinner Post-Christmas day. We ordered clam chowder, fried calamari, filet mignon, prawn scampi and crème brûlée for dessert. The clam chowder was kinda disappointing. It was a shallow bowl and I didn't care for the taste and neither did my girls. The calamari was very tender and the filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium rare. The prawns were just alright. We returned to the Lobster Shop after its renovation and new ownership and REALLY REALLY had a great time. This time around, I experienced it as a treat from a friend, and have no clue what we ended up spending but I can say that all meals were enjoyed. We had a little bit of every protein on the menu between all of the people at our table and there were no complaints. We saved room for dessert and were not disappointed. The place was not very busy the whole time we were here. I want to give a special shout out to our server, Rachel, she was fun and attentive. We ordered the 3 course special that runs till 530. Clam chowder was first. I'd give that 5 stars alone. It was tasty and you actually had pieces of clams in it that weren't teeny tiny. The main course... was meh ok. It was just barely warm... the butter glob on top of the salmon didn't even melt, so that got flicked to the side, the entree was fine but nothing out of this world where I'm going to want it again. The salmon was cooked well and I know it's fish but I was picking bones out constantly. The crème brûlée was okay, decent flavor and the sugar too was perfect but half of it was not quite set all the way and a bit runny. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience and from my last visit was an improvement. If I had just got clam chowder with Rachel as my server... definitely would've been a 5 star experience. read more

My husband and I came in on a weekday to celebrate our anniversary. I noted this on the reservation and they congratulated us while taking us to our seat. The hostess also went above and beyond when I asked if she could take a picture of us. The location is gorgeous, the restaurant is right on the water with plenty of windows to view the bay, they also have outdoor seating when the weather allows. I believe it was four nice sized shrimp and the sauce was a great balance of sweetness and heat. Now the main event the Lobster Rolls! We all ordered the Connecticut lobster which is a warm lobster roll. They come with the best shoestring fries. The roll was hot brioche bun with warm butter and stuffed full of juicy lobster. She had drinks in front of us in no time. Food options were great.
