We have driven by this place numerous time and today we found it open during our travels. Do NOT let the outside sway you away, because this is definitely a gem of a restaurant. It's clean and has a nice atmosphere. We ordered "Early Bird Special" of broiled haddock with fries and baked stuffed haddock with onion rings. The portions were full dinner portions and they were huge. Both meals the haddock was cooked to perfection and moist and tender. The fries and onion rings were crispy and delicious. Even though they were extremely short staffed tonight we were seated in 20 minutes... food was served in a reasonable amount of time. Fried Calamari was crisp and delicious, Haddock was piping hot and full of flavor, Eggplant parmigiana was very good and our daughter enjoyed her Linguini with meatballs. Called nine times to make a takeout order. Had to drive there and luckily it was open. They just ignore the phone ringing. Ordered $110 and lobster salad had three pieces of lobster. Not worth the $25. Mussels were good and steamers weren't bad. Came back another night to order take out since it was such a rainy day and didn't feel like making reservations elsewhere. Husband went to order and the older lady remembered him ordering earlier in the week. She said, " You are the one that had the $110 take out order last time, and you didn't tip me." She then said, "We don't have time to serve you." Turned around and walked away. No food is that good. It's a no for me. We had lunch here today. The wait staff was inattentive. Probably because they're understaffed--who isn't. The place was FREEZING. Everyone had winter boots and jackets on inside. We ordered clam chowder to start our meals and try to warm up... it took 30 minutes. Clam chowder was good. The lobster came and was okay. The bill came and the lobster was crazy expensive. We then headed to south NH for dinner in hopes to find a better lobster joint and boy were we blown away at how awful the lobster at the Lobster Trap was compared to our dinner destination. Not impressed. Although not busy they were in a rush about everything. I like to go to dinner and relax and enjoy my meal. Rushed to seat us with not menus, rushed to take our order, had to ask multiple times for a little time to look over the menu. Meanwhile the were pacing back and forth by our table. Husband ordered a large steak and a pound of clams. They brought him a whole lobster when we mentioned he had not ordered it they tried to get us to keep it. My friend said they refused to pick up the phone, so they couldn't place a take out order. So, she sent her husband to go make the order in person and pick up the take out. Her husband told her that the old lady who works there expected him to tip on a prior take out order, and the old lady said because of that, she didn't have time to serve him. Then, she walked away. There are tons of bad reviews on here for this place, how it smells dirty, looks dirty, hair found in the food, rude service, skimpy portions of food, and much more you'll want to avoid. We waited about 20 minutes to get seated, it was a little chaotic at the door, but it could've been worse. We got seated and waited...and waited...for someone to come and take our order. But they were tasty! The Cole slaw was very good. Partner's chicken parmesan was some of the best he's ever had in the area, he said, and he's a tough critic! My favorite part was the waitress. Funny, friendly, and service-oriented, Tracy was a ray of sunshine in a pretty chaotic situation, considering that there are just not enough employees to run tables smoothly and efficiently. Went there tonight the lobster tails were small,overcooked and rubbery. The scallops and shrimp were supposed to be stuffed but were in a dish covered with a breadcrumb stuffing. Tried Lobster Trap after having been away for a few years. Ordered the shrimp, scallop and whole belly clams. THEY WERE DONE TO PERFECTION.!! Fried just enough to have a great golden color, crisp outside and amazingly juicy inside. Haven't had such an amazing fried seafood experience 5+ star in a long time, usually at least one fried items is not on target but not at this meal! The side I ordered was cole slaw, that I would only give a 3, too coarse for my liking but it had a very good taste. Service was very good as well. Dining. Those lobsters were really packed in there and I saw some actually moving around, most wild caught in the USA. A 1 lb Lobster was $13.95 in August 2009. I stopped here for lunch takeout and they offer several Early Bird Specials before 6PM. I ordered the Early Bird Lobster Roll ($9.99) which came with choice of side (I chose onion rings) and salad or chowder (I chose the latter). The food was up in about 10 minutes. The chowder was thick with minced clams and potato chunks. The onion rings were battered and very light. The lobster roll was pretty tasty which had chunks of claw and knuckle meat with celery and green peppers in a light mayo mix. Overall, the food was pretty good and reasonably priced for what I got. The lobster rolls comes with with a bit of mayo, or lemon butter, or breaded and deep fried. We had the traditional mayo and ordered cole slaw on the side. It was hands down the best I have ever had, and I've had many. Chunks of fresh lobster I'm sure they cooked in house. Light mayo dressing to moisten but let the lobster shine through. Rolls toasted, but stll crunchy and delicious. The cole slaw was fresh and crunchy and had just the right amount of dressing. Just moistened enough so as not to spoil the crunch and flavor. If you like lob rolls you absolutely MUST try this. If you haven't had a lob roll before (anyone?) this is the way to start. Enjoy! read more

Lobster trap is a restaurant sitting in the center of a long road. At first, I was skeptical upon entering because of the mix reviews on yelp. Then decided, "why not!" Here is my (personal opinion) rating system of eating at this restaurant during the pandemic on a scale from 1-10. 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. Service- 10 Food-10 Social distancing tables- 10 Mask wearing- 0 That was the problem for me. Our server was mask on one minute, mask completely off the next (yikes). Hey I get it, the masks are a pain in the butt, but she doesn't know where I've been and vise verser. I just feel the staff needs to be more discipline about it. I get that the Covid-19 numbers in New Hampshire are low compared to other states And who knows, maybe the server already contracted Corona, but for piece of mind to the customers, Wear YOUR DARN MASK!!! That was my only issue. Like many other reviewers the staff not properly wearing a mask was frustrating. I ate my food, paid my bill and left. Quickest dinner ever. Other then that I highly recommend the Lobster roll. It was the best I've ever had and the Onion rings are enjoyable too! Overall, enter at your own risk.
