I mistakenly went to this restaurant thinking I was going to Jonathan's, as at the time I didn't know they were closed. we decided to try this place and oh my word - THIS WAS THE BEST RESTAURANT MEAL I've had in a very long time. Both kids loved their meal - my fried whole belly clams were cooked properly and the squash and salad were fresh and perfect. This place is worth it!!! Our waiter was especially attentive to my kids and they felt proud to be able to order and ask questions themselves. An added bonus, we forgot our backpack of kid activities at the restaurant, and one of the staff offered to drop it off at our hotel as they were traveling that way!! If I could give zero stats, I would. The food was average. the shrimp scampi was not very good. The pasta was stuck together and it didn't have much flavor. The shrimp were good. My son had baked haddock that had an off taste. They were short staffed so the wait was long. I wrote a review on Google that was far from bad and the owner rebutted with very rude comments and called me arrogant. Not a way to run a business. read more

We just had a fantastic dinner at Lobster Trap, sitting beside the wood stove. The lobster roll was delicious. I had the cold lobster salad roll with a side of cole slaw. My husband had the warm lobster roll with butter and a side of onion rings. We started with a hot cup of clam chowder. Everything was served quickly. Our servers were all very nice, professional, and courteous. We never felt rushed. This was our first time here. We'll be back to try other items on the extensive menu. read more

was their April 13 not many in the restaurant but we had been there before so chose to go back made a big mistake it smelt like bad fish when we walked in that should of told us to leave but we stayed ... my daughter ordered lobster pie a double order well it was claw and knuckle and tased ok but a hour later she was oh no I don't feel good the waitress told us they were running low on lobsters but she was ok with lobster pie I think the pie was bad rotten my daughter had stomach upset an hour later my husband ordered the baked stuffed haddock with lobster and he has a bad case of diarrhea about two hours later omg Im glad I had steak but 54.00 dollar for lobster pie and to get sick is crazy the table was sticky on my daughters side when she sat down We usually go to the Lobster boat near our home but chose this restaurant because we were in Conway visiting family... the waitress did say it was the last day of the week for them but if the food was rotten they should of closed. read more

Have driven by and heard of the Lobster Trap So decided to give it a try. Had a party of 9. Great setting and very well put together interior and Clean. Food Was good and people were friendly and courteous. As many in the industry having to adapt to new Covid regulations. The food tasted good and the decor was very welcoming. The bread given to us at the begining wasn't all that great, it was ok. I wish they had a side for people without smaller kids because our side of the restaurant was very noisy with groups of families and we couldn't hear ourselves talk but that's beyond our control. We ordered bacon wrapped scallops and they were not good at all. They tasted and smelled really fishy and I almost gagged. For $14 just for 5 small scallops, I would NOT recommend to order that. I had the broiled seafood platter and that was really good so I think it was just the way the food was cooked. I really liked the clams and haddock. Tried to get lobsters from here for takeout during a weekend out.. called multiple times and it went to voicemail immediately.. ended up driving there and going inside to ask and about four staff walked by us and ignored us within ten minutes before the hostess came back. She was pleasant until we asked about take out and her response was "oh we aren't doing take out today. We are overwhelmed with orders and short staffed". We went to this restaurant by accident but it was so great. Each dish was so delicious and relatively cheap and definitely worthy the price. The lobster ravioli was full of lobster meat and well prepared. The drink however was not quite looking well and it was stronger than I expected. Sorry, guys. Our experience last night has turned us away. Long wait to be seated in a half empty dining room. Long wait for food. Out of chicken parm; lobster rolls literally had six little pieces of lobster in a hot dog bun with 12 wilted fries; the two people who ordered the seafood platters, didn't like the taste, and became ill shortly after. Perhaps a coincidence. Plates were removed in front of us while still eating. Didn't even want to tip but figured it's not the waiter's fault that the food is mediocre to poor. Foods been going down hill the past year or so, within this time we had several different times lobster sauté. It used to be so good and fresh, lobster wasn't fresh past 3 times we had it. After coming to this place for 30+ years, I have to say I think this year will be my last. Nostalgia aside, I just can't tolerate the mediocre over fried food and questionable cost any longer. Arrived as I do every year with my 3 year old in tow (she loves the lobsters and makes little squeaking noises when she talks with them) ... Only to her hear ask "daddy what's wrong with these obsters?" There are 5 tanks, two down low so the kids can see which also I guess makes them a pain for the staff to keep an eye on.... Needless to say about half of the lobsters were dead and some turning grey. I took a look at the tanks which interconnected their water system and thought... Yuck.. Now they are all infected with that crap. 8 of us had dinner..... Again the chowder was great and the onion rings a tasty treat... And the lobster was..... Lobster.... We didn't get sick from it... But my friend who paid $12 extra for a lobster tail nearly did when she saw a tail about the size of a river crayfish! Nothing special here at all.. In fact I have had better seafood and selection just about anywhere. Better seafood down at the white lake inn on lobster night.... And no where near the caliber of any seafood house in the area. Went there for lunch on my way to Diane's Bath. Got a burger, it was lacking condiments and by the time the server returned to check on things i was almost done with burger. Thankfully, there was ketchup on the table. I was the only one there. Went to use the ladies room and really wish I didnt. It was really gross, like really. I had to flush it. This was my first New England lobster experience...and it did not disappoint! They had great specials/deals going on with certain menu items. We had twin tails for $25 and 2 lbs of lobsters for $35. Although the lobster meat wasn't as big/full as I've had before, it was ridiculously tasty and cooked to be the perfect chewy meaty lobstah meat consistency. They give out these fun bibs and the place is definitely really casual/low-key/not fancy or pretentious. Beer on tap was ridiculously cheap ($15 for a huge pitcher). You MUST add on the $2 clam chowder bowl, it's super creamy and rich, has big chunks of clams, and deliciousness is on par with Pike Place Chowder's in Seattle! Fine for families with picky young children as they have other pasta/kid menu items. The owner Bill, was awesome and had some hilarious stories...ask about his time in the mafia! ;) Looks like its a family business - his wife was our server and she was very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean overall but they ran out of soap...not good when you're eating lobstaaah with your hands! Bring hand sanitizer. read more

When I asked our waitress why the employees weren't wearing masks, I was told because it was too hot. She seemed to be very put out that we thought she should be wearing a mask. Horrified by the lack of masks by the waitstaff. We had tried to call in an order but their phones do not work. We ordered takeout and they got a lot of the order wrong. I ordered fried seafood combo of shrimp, haddock, and clam strips... and we got shrimp with double clam strips... no haddock. We ordered the broiled combo. It was good, but we ordered fries on the side and there were no fries. We asked for butter with out baked potato... no butter. They seemed overwhelmed by the customers, were clearly not taking Covid-19 seriously, and were disorganized. Very disappointing. read more

First time after driving by for past 20 years, coming from the North Shore of Boston and lived in Gloucester for 20 years, we have been spoiled when it comes to fresh fish restaurants. Service by Julie and her colleagues was outstanding! Now the food, clam chowder was not very good, a lot of potatoes and little clams, thick and pasty, prefer thin broth, passable and good for tourists. Fried haddock plate was two tail pieces and side was dish of butternut squash that had been sitting out to long, not good! Wife got combo fried plate, maine fried clams over cooked, 4 shrimp, two pieces of tail haddock, scallops were good, fried onion rings tasty but greasy. Drinks were fine and reasonably priced.
