Its bound to happen. You have plans to drop the kid off to school and then go to work. Then, the garage door will open only partially. No one else is home so you can't manually open the door and/or close it once you're outside the driveway. Looks like the kid gets a school day off. We called Local Garage Doors and they were able to come diagnose and fox the issue same day. Turns out the issue were bad rollers which were promptly replaces. The technician also considered getting a new garage door at some point, since they last 30 years and our door looked old! A few weeks later I decided to get a new garage door and upgrade some of the features. I wanted some windows added which makes the garage prettier on the outside while providing good natural light inside the garage. I also opted for a wifi-enabled opener so I can use a phone app to control the garage door. Daniel was the technician assigned and did a fine job on under 3 hours. Absolutely terrible experience with Local Garage Doors (servicing Danville and surrounding areas). I scheduled them for a basic lubrication and inspection service, and it was a mess from the start. The technician showed up late--even though the appointment was set for early morning. When I asked what was included in the service, his response was rude and dismissive. When I asked him a couple of follow-up questions it only made him more irritated. The attitude was completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, he initially charged me more than the amount discussed over the phone. I had to show him the coupon we had referenced in our prior conversation to get the correct price. Overall, the lack of professionalism and poor customer service left a bad impression. I will not be using this company again. 0 star for me. read more

After the initial new garage door about a month or two later, I had to call them to have them come out due to a squeak that developed. Not sure if it was just needing some lube or something wearing down, I asked a question here and it was promptly answered by the owner. She recommended to have a call and schedule for inspection. Suffice it to say, it just needed some lube and when the technician stopped by, I did request for an estimate on a new garage door motor since I could hear my 20+ yr motor sort of struggling lift the door. Upon them contacting me about the estimate, I had to try to haggle alittle and try to lower their price just a tad due to our earlier conversation about a coupon I could have used earlier but financial issues sort of me delaying the motor and door purchase together. After a few txts and them finally understanding what I was trying to do and explaining what I had from a previous txt conversation, they lowered their price and it was agreed upon. The day of the installation, it was the same technician from earlier and the installation was very quick and gave a quick run down on everything. My experience with Local Garage Doors was absolutely terrible. We requested a straightforward service to replace the retainer and seal under our garage door, but it turned into a two-week nightmare. The technician arrived the same day we called, which seemed impressive at first. However, when he returned two days later to do the work, he disassembled our existing retainer only to realize he had brought the wrong model/size. This makes no sense--what was the purpose of the first 'inspection' if not to measure for the correct parts? To make matters worse, when he put the old retainer back on, he did it so poorly that the gap between the door and the ground was even larger than when he started. Because of their incompetence, we were left waiting for 10 days while rats were running into our house through the gap they enlarged. We called three days in a row with no resolution, only to eventually receive a message asking us for pictures of the door to verify the model--information they should have had from day one. I thought about changing a company but eventually decided to give them one more chance, which is for sure a huge mistake. 1. They mentioned they will send another more experienced technician, which did not happen. 2. It took two full weeks to finally get the new retainer and seal installed. Once finished, the technician asked to reprogram the opener as if it were a standard part of the service. He never mentioned a price, yet I was charged over $100 extra for it. I didn't want to waste any more time arguing with them, but I am posting this so others can avoid bad experiences with them. read more

We installed a brand new door with Local Garage Doors about 5 years ago and unfortunately we have had very poor experiences both service, quality and professionalism. The first poor experience came only 35 days after installation when garage door button ceased to operate. When we called to get it replaced under warranty they said while the part would be covered we would be charged for both a service call plus labor. After spending over $3K just a little over 30 days back for a brand new door, motor and components, we were dismayed. We reached out to the owner Tyler who reluctantly agreed to care for it after citing they cannot control when a customer receives a bad part. Two years later our garage door had trouble closing. It would go down the track then back up. We called for service and the technician said that the track was aligned too close to the wall creating pressure and misalignment and had to change the vertical brackets. What was interesting is he said that the original tech did not install the vertical rails correctly. We were upset but paid for the service to fix it. Fast forward another 2 years and the torsion coils break. Understanding this happens we called for service. After John the tech replaced the coils he was having trouble programming the motor which is still operational. After he phoned in to his supervisor Eli they conclude that it must be the Logic Board (not the motor) and since it's out of the 5 yr warranty we are to foot the bill. We informed them that the door and unit were installed on 04/21/21 and todays date is 04/12/26 which is still under the 5 yr. Can you believe John's supervisor Eli said that the warranty is by the manufacture date and not the install date??We could not believe what we were hearing. We asked John for his supervisor's contact info but he would not give it to us citing privacy. As consumers we asked him when you buy a product aren't you expecting your warranty to start on the date of purchase and not it's manufacture date? After going back and forth with Eli they reluctantly placed an order to cover the part but we still have to pay for labor (again) after paying for the labor to install the new coils. I don't ever leave negative reviews but the customer service I received from this company was absolutely horrible. I purchased a new garage door for over $13k. It took about 6 weeks longer than I was promised. Every time I would call the office I would get the run around and LGD would just blame the distributor. So the doors finally arrived and we set the install date toward the end of June. The technician was fine for the install. It went smoothly . They did come back out because it was crooked and not operating properly. That appointment went fine . When the garage door was being installed we noticed the doors had some cracked glass in a couple of the windows in the doors. We heard that Local garage doors would order new glass be right out to install the glass. Well, I have been waiting going on my 9th month for the glass to be repaired. I call every 3 weeks and get the run around. I ask for Kathryn the manager or the owner to call me back to resolve the issue. Oh no, 95 percent of the time I would get zero call backs. They don't want to talk to their customers and they leave the front line customer service trying to appease the customers who have any issues . Absolutely Terrible customer service and they obviously don't care once they get your money. When I would call back again, someone in customer service would say, oh it is on its way and we just need the distributor ( they always blame the distributor and take no accountability), to send it to us. Asking for an eta , I would hear nothing . Ok so now I am at my wits end and have waited 9 months and I have repeatedly said just get some glass locally and put clear glass in the windows. Today was the last straw . Local garage doors told me when I called ( no calling me I keep having to call them) that the glass was here. We set up an appointment 9-11 am today ... but after 10 today, I get a call ( wow amazing) and they said oh no, the distributor ( of course blame it on someone else) didn't send the glass . No new ETA . And of course they don't know if they have the glass or not until an hour after the appointment for repair???? My recommendation - DO NOT USE LOCAL GARAGE DOORS. They lie, they blame others and they don't even call you back and they definitely don't believe in customer service. Unfortunately after our initial simple repair, the garage door collapsed again within a week. Again, Marvin came back and reinstalled three screws in the existing holes. A few days later, it collapsed a third time! Finally Local Garage Doors sent out a "senior technician" who replaced the screws after drilling NEW holes which finally helped the issue. Ultimately we decided to go with them and replace our garage door outright since it was pretty old and worn. Now this is where all our real troubles started. The door they installed us does not properly fit - at least 3 different technicians have come over to make adjustments over the course of 60+ days. One issue after another: the door jammed and wouldn't close, the opening/closing system is as too loud as the railings were grinding, the weather strips at the bottom were broken/cut which allowed critters to enter our garage, and lastly, the door is sticking to the top of our weatherstripping and causing damage. Like thousands of homes in Danville, we live in an HOA community and need to adhere to the color scheme. So we painted the door with light paint and now the paint is scraping off because the door doesn't fit right and shows! Without the paint the door is just getting scratched up because of the mis-sizing. This company is good at responding to help but not technically sound and proper. On Yelp they say they're a generic local garage company but they're actually located in Central Valley / El Dorado Hills and their technicians aren't familiar with Danville HOA rules. Why didn't they advise me properly in the door fitting right? We had no problems with our original door. We are going to escalate this issue in order to get this fixed properly. After 10 yrs of regular usage, the spring system just gave in and not knowing what happened overnight, I opened the door only to find out that the motor pulled on the door and it just snapped the whole system. While 4 other highly rated guys recommended that I needed a whole system including new doors and brackets, Auggi from Local Grage Doors not only diagnosed what problem in the first minute but suggested that we can fix it versus replacing the whole door and fixtures. GET MULTIPLE QUOTES! I saw a coupon in the mail from this company for $89 for new rollers. It's very misleading. First of all, the technician said that those are poor quality rollers made of plastic, and he recommends nylon rollers that are a lot more expensive, making the coupon useless. My garage door also needed some lubricant and rebalancing. I was quoted close to $400 for this service (even with adding in some "discounts"), which seemed high. I then asked how much labor was involved, and he said 30 minutes. $400 for 30 minutes of labor and some very basic parts is crazy! Luckily, I got another quote. The next company did all of the services for less than $200, the same day I called. My garage issues are fixed, and I saved $200. I gave the company 2 stars because the technician who came out was professional and patient, but the service was outrageously overpriced. read more
