Maybe this was an off day. I had high hopes and met two great friends for our first visit. Service was lackluster, lamb burger was burnt and well overdone to say the least. Friend asked for no onions in salad it was overloaded with them. Cucumbers not fresh and soggy. Tomato juice ordered was served at room temperature warm. Brought all this to the managers attention and got offered free dessert, ah no thanks. He did not appear to care. I gave it an extra star as the fries were good. Tried but won't return. Maybe it's a good bar. read more

If it weren't for the bartender & kind server this place would have received a 1 or 2 star. Our family (w/ 3 small kids) were told there would be a 30-45 min wait. We ended up waiting for over an hour. Never saw a manager. No communication to a manager about how long people had been waiting. A table of older what seemed to be locals who frequent the restaurant sat down 15-20 min after we did & received their food a solid 20 min before we did. Our order was not complicated or elaborate. Still no manager ever came around to ask how we were or if there was anything he/she could do. My dad's burger was almost burnt & someone brought him another one(might have been the manager) but not sure. I prefer to support "local", but this was a terribly run restaurant. When a family with littles waits that long to be seated, an appetizer should be offered or at least a check in on the customers. I asked the bartender if they had any bread & he said it would $1/piece. I didn't care to pay at that point & when he brought it over, he said don't worry about it, you look stressed. Thank you bartender. The fact that kids/families can't be seated at the tables around the bar is the dumbest rule. We could have been seated much faster. The food was pretty good minus the overcooked burger, but it was hard to enjoy since we were just tired & ready to go to bed. read more

Our group's order included cheese fondue, autumn salad, strawberry salad, smokehouse burger and baked potato. The cheese fondue and a baked potato were the best foods we had today at this restaurant. The cheese fondue was delicious. The autumn salad was bland. The strawberry salad should have been named salad with strawberries because there were very few strawberries. A medium rare smokehouse burger was ordered but a well- done burger that was crisp around the edges and very greasy was served. The drinks were good (sweet iced tea and soft drinks). I am new to the Ooltewah area and searching out restaurants that can be the "go-to" place for my hubby and I when we need that comfortable hang out where someone else does the cooking and I get treated like a long lost friend. I think I have found it in Local Goat. We have been there twice and LOVED the food, service, ambiance and friendly staff on both occasions. They have a large menu with a lot of choices and each dish we have savored have been well prepared and well presented. Wait staff have been lovely. A shout out to Ethan and to LeAnn in the bar who were both charming, clearly enjoy providing great care to their customers and can steer you toward the right food or beverage. LeAnn turned me onto a bourbon barrel beer that is up there in the top 10 beers I have ever enjoyed. I imagine becoming a happy regular and would highly recommend your stopping by to enjoy the food, vibe and terrific service. read more

So happy my Mom & I tried the Local Greatest Of All Time Restaurant! We were very impressed with the menu and atmosphere but what really made our day was the service & the FOOD! When you visit you must ask for Claritza as your server...she was so friendly and informative and answered every question we had about the food & the way the owners run the business. She was so right about the dishes we ordered and we thoroughly enjoyed our lamb burger and the fish & chips...I can't wait to bring my husband back to try more!! read more

We tried Local Goat this weekend after passing by the Ooltewah location a number of times. The service was fantastic. Unfortunately, the food was not. I had the fish and chips, and my spouse had the chicken tenders. The appearance of both dishes was quite nice, but it quickly went to downhill at that point. Both of our dishes were exceedingly greasy which having worked in a number of restaurants I can tell you that this is due to the temperature of the oil being too low. The oil may be set at 375 degrees but adding order after order of cold food to a fryer will bring the temperature down substantially which will turn anything cooked in said oil into a sponge. Both of our orders came with fries that were exceedingly cold. When we brought this to the attention of our server, she didn't seem quite surprised as if it is a regular occurrence. She brought another order to us, but they too were cold. Additionally, we both got side Ceasar salads which were brought out at the same time, yet my spouse's salad was twice as large as mine. Both of us also received the end piece of the head of romaine lettuce in our salads which was an extra treat. As I mentioned earlier the service was very good, their jalapeno ranch dressing was also good. If you're in the mood to spend $50 on lunch I suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Really did not enjoy this place. Our server was sick and coughing all over the section. The section we were in smelled bad, I think it was dirty carpet smell. We ordered and got our food in less than 10 minutes, so not exactly fresh as the menu states numerous times. We had fish and chips, and tenders and fries. Im almost 100% certain all of it was leftover from lunch. I don't think I've ever been served cold shoestring fries, shoestring fries cook in what 3 minutes? Can't even cook the fries fresh? This place is just below average american fare, and you might even leave with a new friendly virus. read more

I went to dinner at this restaurant with a large group of friends. The service was not so good. It took forever to get even a drink ordered. It was busy, but we sat on the patio out where they were only a few tables occupied. The food was excellent and the beer was great. There was karaoke that night, which we gladly participated in. I would definitely not return on the weekend, but any other time would be wonderful. read more

We were travel weary & very hungry for something besides fast food. GOAT did not disappoint. Cameron was an amazing bartender. We did get our order to go. One fish & chips and one chicken tenders. The breading was seasoned just right, the fish was delish as was the chicken. The fries are very good and the portion is generous. This is a regular stop for us so we will be back. I have been to this restaurant many times and usually it's very good in both food and service. Prices are a little high but it seemed worth it to me. Unfortunately this last time it didn't even come close. I ordered the steak nachos which is an appetizer but server said portion size was big so I got it for dinner. When it came out, the chips covered the whole plate but nothing else did. There we're about 6 pieces of steak, drenched in "ball park" quality melted cheese, a few pickled red onions, some sliced jalapeños and a drizzle of basmati sauce for nearly $20. Been here 3 times. It has consistently gotten worse each of the 3 times. Most recently, the salad looked like it was left out for several days and not washed, with clumps of salad that had browned and composted into a paste. I had to pick out the bad pieces for the first 5 minutes of my meal. I tried the mashed potatoes and they were very bad, in fact, the waitor commented that he always encourages customers to steer clear from that particular side. This comment was made after the meal, though, which was odd. Here is the disappointing part: my wife and I both felt extremely sick to our stomachs for a good 24 hours after the meal. The common cause we felt was attributed to this meal, and we both felt that the fried items were extremely sickening, almost as if rancid oil was used. The staff overall were odd and gave off creepy vibes. I'm not one to judge by looks but sorry, it matters when you are serving food and look as if you haven't showered in weeks and smell like cigarette smoke/blue cheese. Businesses can and should coach their visible employees on how to not act repulsive when customer-facing. The first visit to the restaurant was okay, that's why we went back obviously. But this last time was too much and we just can't return, if nothing else, for the sake of our health. read more

One of the best burgers I've eaten in a long time. I've ordered something different every time we've eaten there and no complaints on any. HOWEVER! The service is very lacking. I waited almost 20 minutes for a glass of wine. I was finished with my pasta dish when I finally got my drink. Our server in the bar side was very apologetic for the slow service. She and another person had the whole bar and patio area. Which by the way was packed. It sends the wrong message when you have 3-5 people hanging out at the hostess stand playing on their phones or joking around with each other. Stopped here on our way home from a trip to Florida. The server was, shall we say...less than helpful. My meal was subpar. I ordered a burger, and the cheese wasn't just not melted on it, but appeared to be just out of the fridge. When I told the young man about it, he just laughed and said 'I'll mention it to the cook'. Um, thanks I guess? He also brought me a mojito with no simple syrup. I told him the drink was wrong, he giggled again, and said he would tell the bartender. This was after the drinks were brought out in the middle of the meal. We ordered them pretty much the minute we sat down. We were also charged for all of this awesomeness. I would definitely scratch this place off your list. I'm certain there are other, better places to try. A lovely young lady did catch us on the way out and asked us how it was, and we told her about our bad visit. She offered to get a manager, but it was a bit too late at this point and while we appreciated it, we needed to get back on the road. Hopefully she spoke to our server about how to handle problems with the kitchen and bar. read more
