The food we each ordered was good and we liked the time relaxing in here because it was very comfortable and a nice vibe. Starting off, Food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. Unfortunately I was excited for a special wine I saw on the menu and in person I ordered it. Didn't have my glasses on but was told the by the server the manager helped them find the bottle. It was labeled as reserve on the wine list, after the bottle was poured I only realized it wasn't what was listed. I was highly disappointed. At that point there was nothing to be done, it's been poured already, I wasn't going to make a fuss. I was told by the server he had seen bottles of reserve before but not for a while. The menu should be updated, also if a manger is involved with helping of finding the bottled something should have been addressed by them. I specifically came for this bottle, I would have opted for something else but trusted the word of the server about the manager. Popped in to J's this afternoon for a quick cocktail. The bartender behind the bar clearly ignored us. Two ladies came in thru the bar door sat down & was presented with menus immediately. At this point my husband and I had already been sitting for 5-7 min. I know J's can get busy on a Sunday afternoon after church however this clearly was not the issue. We had a drinks , paid the check & , left. Just dissappointed as he clearly saw us sitting. Too many other restaurants to frequent if service cannot be provided. My go-to order is the grilled salmon (it's amazing) with the orzo & wild rice. Their house salad is one of the best around! I dined here on a work dinner with my team and it was excellent! The tables are large and spaced out, nobody is on top of each other and it's also not loud so conversation was easy. We had the spinach artichoke dip which was delicious, they refilled our chips as well! I had the steak burger with fries, the burger was good but the fries are so good if you're a fry person!! I had the steak burger and fries (with aioli sauce on side). The burger was perfect and tasty great. The fries were terrible I asked for crispy and they were not even close. The fries are shoestring style so I would pass unless you like this kind. They need to have thick steak fries. I would have sent back but our waiter was too busy to care about us it seemed. The other meal was a filet with side of coleslaw. Both were great and I wish I would have ordered the coleslaw. One of the best I have had, odd I know but it was. I came here while I was in town to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were sat in a big enough booth for all 5 people to comfortably enjoy. We sat under a really nice well lit light which I appreciated so I could read their menu in good lighting. Whenever I go to a new restaurant, I love to order a good shrimp taco and I was glad to see they had that on their menu. I ordered the Crispy shrimp tacos with black beans and rice. My friends ordered the steak and fries, steak burger, cypress salad and French dip sandwich (last two plates mentioned not pictured). When my plate arrived I was excited because it looked so pretty and mouth watering. When I tell you the shrimp was delicious I feel like words can't truly convey how scrumptious these tacos were until you eat them yourself. The portion of the shrimp on the taco was perfect and were fried to perfection. The black beans and rice were seasoned really well. They had yellow bell peppers cooked in them which added to their delicious taste. Our server Jersey, was very nice and caring. One of my friends didn't care for their steak. They didn't say anything but didn't want to take it home either. The server asked if everything was ok with the steak or if it didn't taste well. Although my friend said it was ok, Jersey wanted to take it back to explain to the manager because she said it wasn't satisfactory to the customer. I thought that was a nice touch from a server because most servers wouldn't care. It shows that Jersey will go over and beyond to make sure the customer enjoys their dish. Her service was great. We all enjoyed a chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream for our friend's birthday. I'm not a big fan of chocolate cake but that cake was AMAZING. Everyone including the birthday friend enjoyed it. The cake was heavy but so moist and very very warm. A warm chocolate cake with a big scoop of ice cream was the perfect way to end our lunch. Stopped in for lunch....thought we both ordered the wrong choices....our mistake....mediocre grilled chicken sandwich and a prime rib sandwich with fat and gristle hard to chew..... if you get the French fries eat them fast....they get cold really quick....my wine was $14.00 a glass for red....only draft was Yuengling, $8.00 each. I've worked so many years on projects at a confectionery factory there, and dined many times at this place. The food is just spectacularly delicious! All of it. I'll give a special mention to the smoked salmon dip and the Norwegian Grilled Salmon for some of the best I've ever had. The sauce is a little bit dill and a perfect pairing. My father was with me one week to admire the projects I completed with my team and had the salmon. We had to go back one more time before we left he liked it so much. One special memory was when he was in hospice for leukemia, in his last week alive, I came to his house after a trip for work to Chattanooga, and I came in to see him. He was so happy to see me, but I must confess he asked if I had that grilled salmon at J's that we had. It must be good to bring it up as a special meal together! Passing through the area and j Alexander's is probably my lady's favorite restaurant, so it was a must. It's always worth it I have to admit. The place is always clean and the staff always friendly. Food was prepared flawlessly and tasted delicious! We haven't tried the bar but apparently it's very good as well as we have not ever been there that it wasn't packed with many patrons. The pricing is on the upper side but not to the point of shying away from and the menu is not so broad that quality is lost in the kitchen. Comfortable booths with dark-enough lightning to create a sense of ambience but not so dark that you can't see across the aisle or down the stairs (it happens!). Nothing on the menu at JA is bad, but nothing is exceptionally great either. What the restaurant does do very well is maintain consistency: they don't change up their core menu and the food comes to the table exactly as you had it last time, which is presumably why you ordered it again.
