Took a very long time for the Hostess to seat us-Altho' wasn't busy at all, then we're seated under a speaker blasting whiny music. Menu looked good, & Server was well acquainted with the history of The Local Goat, both in Ooltewah & Pigeon Forge & shared all of it with us before we allowed to order. Because an appetizer was ordered by my daughter for lunch, the server placed her order, ASSUMING I didn't want to eat my meal with her, long before my hamburger order was placed. The best fried green tomatoes we've ever eaten but unfortunately what followed certainly didn't come up to the same level of excellence. We were expecting steak fries piping hot; instead we each got warm and rather soggy string fries. My husband's fish (fish and chips) was piping hot and very tasty the first few bites, but as it cooled there was definitely too much breading that was very greasy. The portobello burger left much to be desired - bun even though said to be homemade was a typical bun and not toasted so was quite soggy with the onion, tomato and lettuce. Service was prompt. First time visit for me, and it was 730 P.M. on a Saturday night, after a Titans playoff game! We were a party of 3, so waiting less then 10 minutes was very acceptable. Greeted promptly by our waitress, Tess, who was pleasent and personal, not over bearing. We ordered drinks first. A few minutes later the other two people in our party received their drinks but I did not. It was at least another 10 minutes before I received mine (it was a standard drink on their menu too, the Chattanooga Choo Choo). The cost for an entree is a little steep, but the food quality is OUTSTANDING! Well worth the price. I ordered Bison Meatloaf and it was quite flavorful! The dessert we wanted they were out of, so we settled for their créme brule. It was good, just not what we had our heart set on. Upon leaving, the parking lot was clean and spacious. So in the end, not a perfect visit, but I will definitely try The Local Goat again. read more

My friend and I had planned to have lunch at this restaurant for a long time and today we got the chance. The first thing you notice as you approach the place is the wonderful, tempting aromas. Yes, we were hungry, but we also noticed the same thing as we were leaving after a full meal. How often does that happen? Every staff member we encountered was very friendly, professional, and helpful. We found that they were always available when you needed them, and not hovering when you didn't. We were seated immediately. The menu is quite extensive. I cannot think of anything that was not on it. A huge array of appetizers and entrees. We never got anywhere near dessert. I suppose if there is a negative it might be the very large portion sizes. With the exception of the shrimp and lobster bisque, everything ended up coming home with us. And the soup was simply in a bowl that was too large to finish. So if I were to make a suggestion, it would be to offer a cup size as well as bowl size for soup. The burger was the kind you have to eat with a fork and a knife because it is huge. The restaurant's mission appears to be making people feel welcome and feeding them. Exactly what any restaurant should strive for, but amazingly few of them achieve. We recommend the Local Goat to anyone and everyone. read more

Went in the middle of the day around 4:00 p.m. Pretty dead inside and we decided we wanted to eat here because we would get served faster than anywhere else. After being sat down and waiting, 5 minutes turned into 15 minutes. We were looking around and saw that the servers were in the back talking.
