Had a party here, the food was horrible, there was no flavor and my filet mignon texture wise was like a hamburger patty made from ground beef. The food was expensive for how horrible it was. The service was horrible it took over 2.5 HOURS for us to leave the restaurant. And they don't offer a military discount. Never coming here again read more

I have loved this restaurant for years and eat here often. Food is fabulous all the time! Menu is versatile! Best of all is the customer service! Trey welcomes you as if you were entering his home. A true "has been" that no longer provides the quality they used to. Lasagna was rubbery and the "garlic bread" consisted of a partially burnt slice of white bread. Decor is dated and dreary but as this is one of the few "sit down" restaurants is East Ridge it continues to limp along. Recently attended a birthday celebration here and it was terrific. Tried the wonderful fried shrimp that included great tartar and cocktail sauces. The salad, salad dressing, and buttered baked potato were also delicious. Tried the huge pork chops (2) and the sirloin steak: awesome and great flavor! The service was friendly and great. Waited to be seated for over 10 minutes. 3 other couples were waiting behind us. 2 left before we did. Only saw 1 server. We were the youngest people in there (55&47 respectively). I know I might get chastised for this, but if you have gray or blue hair then this restaurant is for you. Then again, most Sunday partakers that were here the Sunday we came have never heard of Yelp or know how to get on the app so! This restaurant is a staple in the E.R. community and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. And that's a good thing for people who enjoy simple food. It's definitely a mom and pop type restaurant. The restaurant has been around for 47 years. Their beef, pork, fish are great. The owners dad is the butcher and manages all the seafood, beef, pork, and chicken. We enjoyed the dinner. They also do a lot of takeout. read more

This place is an East Ridge (TN) institution, but who wants to eat in an "institution?" Epicurean, like most restaurants, has been impacted by COVID-19 and the employee shortage, but I can't blame the pandemic for room-temperature food and store-bought pies. It has a loyal clientele, but the one waitress, who was attentive and friendly, was overworked for a room of around 20 tables. My turnip greens, squash casserole, and chicken livers were flavorful, but the portions were small and the food was barely warm. As my wife and I ate, we watched bag after bag of to-go meals leave the restaurant. I guess that one negative review will not impact Epicurean, but I wish that one of the last, hold-out "meat and two" restaurants would give more attention to quality control for dine-in customers. read more

Well, I was going to review while I was in the restaurant but could not get Internet signal. Anyway, look at our pictures of our dinner. I got pork chops because of other reviews and am glad I did. It looked and taste like two thick steaks when they brought it to me. I was very happy with the way it taste as it was as close to perfect as a pork chop can be. It was moist and juicy yet very tender. My friend got New York Strip steak. Look at picture I took. Now that is a good steak. She enjoyed it and she is very picky. And if she likes a steak that a restaurant cooks, then they have done a great job. This is a hidden gem of East Ridge, TN. We found this after shopping at SAMs Club. We wanted to go to a restaurant that we have never been to and Yelp took us here. Superb restaurant, wished we live closer. read more

I really don't know how to accurately depict my experience at Epicurean Restaurant. I know I've been curious about this place since I moved to Chattanooga. What was this place exactly? A great friend took me to dinner here and she loves this place. Said they had the best pork chops. So off we went. First of all, this is a favorite place of the Early Bird diners, if you get my drift. LOL. Nothing wrong with that at all, and hey, everyone loves to have their favorite comfort food and reasonable prices. My friend ordered the pork chop dinner, which comes with two pretty big chops. I ordered a veggie plate and then we were able to share our dinners that way. First they give you this cheesy phyllo dough thingy that was very tasty. The pork chops were very good indeed. I would definitely go back and order that again. The sides were a bit odd to me. The mash potatoes had a strange taste to them and they were heavily salted. I couldn't eat them. The coleslaw was good, as was the mac & cheese, though they use some sort of cottage cheese or something like that in it to make it soft and pudding-texture like. I have to say this was one of those unique dining experiences that I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but one I won't forget. read more

Spanakopita isn't rare on Greek menus, but sometimes I'm just not feeling the spinach. But finding tyropitakia on a Greek menu is a perplexing rarity. Except in the case of the Epicurean which not only offers both, but does it with excellence. The little flaky triangles of phyllo with creamy cheese centers are served with all entrees. But had a serious tyropitakia craving and got the appetizer and shared the dozen with the table of four. My wife had the stuffed chicken, cheesy baked squash, and green beans and enjoyed everything. My father-in-law had the vegetable soup and considers the cornbread that comes in the bread basket a entree in-and-of itself. My mother-in-law had a bacon wrapped filet, the baked squash, and baked apples. In addition to the cornbread the bread basket also had hot and soft rolls that were delicious. This used to my girlfriend and I's regular 'go-to' place for our night off. They offer traditional Italian and Greek dishes, which are tasty, and their prices are reasonable. The experience that changed all of that was as follows: I usually ordered the rainbow trout whenever we went to EPICUREAN. However, our last visit my girlfriend (a former fish market worker) said, "That isn't trout." We called over the manager who calmly explained that, since he got so many complaints from the seniors who frequent there, he replaced the trout with cod and supposedly no one minded. Still said 'TROUT' on the menu, though -- (and PRICED as such! * p.s.: Also on our last visit, I lost track of the times our waitress ignored a dirty fork in the middle of the floor on her way to check on us. The Dining Divas went to lunch September 4th at The Epicurean in East Ridge. There were 9 of us and we were seated immediately. The atmosphere is light and airy with lots of room to be comfortable. Our server, Maria, was wonderful. She was kept busy with our request and didn't make us feel we were causing her a minute of trouble. She just smiled and made sure we had everything we wanted. The food was excellent and plenty of it. If you have not been to The Epicurean then we encourage you to do so. We don't think you will be disappointed. We rated The Epicurean a 5 our of 5. read more

Out of town guest going through Chattanooga and we stopped here for a late lunch. Great food! Varied choices on the menu! The service was fast and friendly. Most of us ordered tea so our server left a pitcher on the table. One friend raves over the trout. The chicken and dressing tasted like grandmother was in the kitchen. The rolls melted in your mouth. If you are looking for cafeteria style food served at your table then this is for you. Not great food but not horrible either. I had the pork chops and liked them but the sides left much to be desired. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant and the baked apples were somewhat bland. I ordered chicken parmesan. I was served two GRILLED chicken breasts with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese with a side of overcooked spaghetti. It was inedible. Our server apologized profusely that I didn't like my meal. The cashier informed me that "he had been cooking chicken parmesan like that for years and everyone liked it" she then refused to remove it from our bill. Not a fan. Food was tasteless and bland. This restaraunt gives Greek food a bad name. I have been twice and both times it's cold and very borring. Southerners should just keep their hands off Greek food a they do is mess it up. If you like authentic Greek style then get in your car and head to new York cayluse you won't find it here. THE GOOD: They know how to cook their protein. The pork chops were excellent (if a bit salty) and the chicken in the chicken parmesan was amazing. (We were surprised that they didn't bread it, but tasting it made us believers.) And their greens, baked apples, and fries were all delicious. THE BAD: Their pasta was so overcooked that it had the consistency of pudding -- you couldn't even wrap it up on a fork without it falling apart. (We asked for a recook, only to be told that it's ALL like that, so we ordered something else.) And their "cheesecake" is a sad no-bake Jell-O mix. Basically, stick to meat with unboiled sides and skip the dessert and you'll enjoy yourself. read more
