Local Three was fairly easy to find, even though it feels tucked into a mixed use development. They have a parking deck, and a nice perk is that valet covers your parking for up to 6 hours. The menu seems to change seasonally, which makes me want to come back and try more. The truffle popcorn was really good, though I honestly think it would make a great complimentary table snack. The Rockefeller oysters were cooked well and still had plenty of flavor, but they weren't included in the BOGO oyster special. I also tried the truffle toast, which sounded better than it tasted for me, so I swapped it for the McDowell burger. It was cooked medium and was much better. The interior is small and quaint Sunday brunch is not very busy so you don't need a reservation although we were stuck between two occupied tables so close the people on the other side kept hitting our chairs it was very awkward yet plenty of room to sit elsewhere and I should have asked. The food is just mediocre pastries made by an outside company, the potatoes were good and cheesy, the salmon on toast was dry and flavorless, French toast was cold and chewy, flat iron steak was cold even though it was just cooked, the bacon was great, turkey sausage had an odd flavor, Mac n cheese was more just a slight cheese pasta dish, grits were underdone and crunchy, shrimp was swimming in too much gravy, the salad was warm. Spontaneous and brilliant decision to get Thgvg eve to go! I happened across the Insta post detailing the night's meal. It was all terrific, so a few notes: The salad dressing is a yummy and tangy vinaigrette, with plenty leftover. The fancy spaghettio-s were fun and paired perfectly with the well seasoned meatballs. Sunday Brunch Review!! Would give more stars if I could! My hubby and I made a reservation at 10:15 and were greeted by Malachi, who gave us all the deets about their brunch. I was initially hesitant about coming here. I'm not sure why. But it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant's decor was sort of modern rustic (?) but classy. Our waitress (Melissa) was so sweet, just attentive enough and helped us with more ideas for experiencing the area. The concept was unique to me--buffet offerings are laid out in one of their kitchens (they have 2). The food choices were a mix of tradition brunch (pastries, breakfast meats, and scrambled eggs) and savory items (jambalaya grits, ribs, brisket quesadillas). I tried almost everything and enjoyed it all, but especially the croissants (3 types), as they were incredibly flaky. The waitress told us that they are made in house by their own pastry chef. If they have their mocha cheesecake (and u like cheesecake), save some room because these are divine, so smooth and just enough sweetness. I was thrilled to hear that Local Three was still around since my initial visit around 10 years ago. I was even more excited about the fact that they were still doing their unique brunch buffet in which patrons could walk through the kitchen and just pull small plates off the pass. It was such a fun experience that I really wanted to revisit. The restaurant was as I remembered it - sleek and rustic with a real Southern vibe. The service was friendly and engaging. However, I spent little time focusing on the staff or décor, because I could not wait to get into the kitchen and grab some food. There were just so many items, all broken into "Starter", "Breakfast", and "Lunch" portions of the menu. A few of my favorites were the Smoked Salmon Toast, Buttermilk Biscuits with Peach Jam, Patatas Bravas, Shrimp and Grits, Chilaquiles, and Collard Greens. After stuffing ourselves on several plates from the kitchen, we saved room to try some tarts off a dessert table that was located next to the host stand. The small, delicious bites were all we could handle by that point, but they were still much appreciated. The brunch buffet at Local Three was really like no other in the way the food was acquired by the diners and in the gourmet quality of the menu items. I highly recommend this experience! read more

Similar opinion of this restaurant as I gave 10 years ago. The food is underwhelming, not tasty and really not well prepared. My dinner companion and I both agreed that a three star rating is appropriate, at least for her fish entrée and the brussels sprouts; however, I'm only giving it two stars because my "prime rib" Chicago beef sandwich was so bad - dried out bread that literally fell apart when I took a bite, only three bites of meat on the entire sandwich, and pickled vegetables that had a very unpleasant taste. The chocolate cake, although dark in color, did not taste like chocolate; we both thought that if you close your eyes and eat it, you would never realize you are eating chocolate. He likes it for the extensive bourbon selection. Their menu is simple and seems seasonal based on market availability. That evening were NJ oysters. We skipped that ordered The McDowell. Yes, named after Coming To America the movie! We started with the sampler charcuterie board. It left a lot to be desired. To drink, I ordered a whisky sour to sip. It was light, sweet and boozy. Honestly one of the best meals my husband and I have had. Our waiter Alvin and all of the staff were amazing! Alvin spoke about the menu with pride and has great recommendations. You'll have a great meal if he's your waiter. Favorite food: The hot honey wings...omg. Best wings/wing sauce I've ever had. The chef was so nice to send us home with some extra sauce. Kid friendly!! I was enticed by the buffet and the fact that you go into the kitchen of the restaurant to serve yourself. That sounded like a new and interesting concept. We have been going to Local Three for many years and it had become our go-to Sunday brunch spot until Covid hit. The service is excellent, with great people and nice conversations. We weren't big into Southern cooking until finding Local 3, and now we're hooked! Outdoor seating is our preference as it can get too loud inside (although they've put noise panels that helped a lot). We enjoy taking a stroll around the gardens after a full meal, and it makes it for a perfect Sunday after church. Highly recommend! read more

We went today for Mother's Day dinner. We didn't know when we made the reservation that the only dining option was the buffet. The options were fine, but honestly nothing knocked our socks off. For five of us, the bill was almost $500. With only the buffet, we ordered two N/A beers and one glass of wine. One of my children is 11. The price was exorbitant. Local Three is located a rocks throw from the Governor Mansion in a very nice neighborhood. The atmosphere is calm but the volume is up just a tad but not to the point where you can hear your party talking to you. The service was good and the whisky and bourbon selection is what would seek to be endless. We went for brunch and the food was cooked well and presented in a tasteful manner. The food was good, though good it missed the mark in a very simple place. The chicken biscuit looks amazing and has apple butter on it...they don't put much so add for extra on the side and you may want hot sauce as well for more kick and flavor. The one item they could've done that would have made the biscuit a star was honey butter. C'mon chef I gave you a tip...use it. Besides that good food not great and really good bartenders. The hostess were okay..not bad but they seemed tired but were respectful of customers. Would I go back again...yes...and I'd bring my own honey butter. :-) read more

The food menu doesn't provide for a substantial number of options - but certainly enough to cater to a few different tastes. We had the French fries (standard), charred edamame (pretty good, albeit with perhaps a bit too much sweetness from the sauce), the asparagus cacio e pepe (creative and worth trying), and the Thai peanut salad (decent...and reasonably sizable portion). Their "brown liquor" menu is quite extensive - but just ask for recommendations from the bartenders about what you'd like. Servers are friendly and happy to accommodate your preferences, where applicable. This place has tons of bourbon! The brunch buffet is back!!! I've been a huge fan of the brunch buffet here pre Covid and even ordered it to go when they did that at the beginning. I like that they rotate items again because that keeps me coming back for a new experience every time. Some changes to note - it's now double the price (was about $25 now about $50 pp) and no more bottomless mimosas but you still get a decent price on those with options. Even with the price increases I still think it's worth it to return. read more

The coffee cake, bacon, and potatoes were yummy. Everything else was totally disappointing. The scrambled eggs and quiche have a terrible texture. The sausage is rubbery turkey sausage. It was our first time eating at Local Three and we will be back! The food and service was great! It's not a huge place so I would recommend making a reservation for a Friday or Saturday night. Everything we ate we delicious. We started with a loc cheese board. All of the cheeses were very good! Some of the best Gouda I've ever had. We had the trout and tri tip burnt ends for dinner which were both wonderful. The portions were actually larger than I expected. The trout came with two decently sized pieces of fish which was nice. The burnt ends were delicious and served with a succotash which balanced the heaviness of the fish. Overall, great dining experience. It was a little tricky to find for us (we could just be dumb) because it is located in an office complex type area. Parking was easy a d the validated our parking which is always nice. read more

What's not to love about this place. I've only been for weekend brunches but hope to try dinner sometime. The brunch setup is awesome with you going through a Buffett line in the kitchen, seeing the chefs make the food, while playing some nice jams. They even let my son request a song. There's a variety of foods ranging from French toast to wings. Kids under a certain age also eat free, which is nice because my kids don't eat so much to justify the AYCE experience. It has a truffle noise to it. - Brussels sprouts: really good flavor & crunchy. - Braised Brisket Stroganoff: I loved my main dish - it wax very flavorful and pretty decent amount of it. Hidden gem in Buckhead for sure. The fried okra might be one of their best and most delicious things on the menu. And it's an appetizer. Great range of drinks to choose from. The menu changes frequently which lets you know it's fresh. I was even impressed they had a kids menu complete with coloring sheets (the server brought the coloring sheets). The low country boil was disappointing for sure. Like it wanted to be that but maybe it wanted to be shrimp and grits or something in between. The BBQ chicken nachos were recommended to us by someone not our server (maybe a manager?) and they were quite delightful. The crab cakes were fresh and light. They validate parking which is nice. I was torn on how to rate the venue. I would probably give a 3.5. I went for brunch and although no individual dish was particularly disappointing overall the experience was underwhelming. The restaurant is located in a complex that includes a commercial tower and an apartment complex. A bit challenging to locate except once I parked in the commercial power plaza instructions were clear inside on how to find the restaurants. The restaurant takes reservations and has small rooms for a private group. Brunch is very popular so I highly recommend planning in advance. Brunch is served in the kitchen. Interesting choice if executed well but a few problems, for one it looked like it was in a bit of disarray. Cans were opened, rags hanging around, etc it didn't look that cleanly or upscale(clearly repackaging store brands or frozen items). Also, food came out inconsistently so unlike buffets of comparable prices(like canoe) you often might wait at one station for a refill. There also weren't many non red meat options. I enjoyed the pancakes, rolls, salad, also buffalo cauliflower. Shrimp was fine but often had to wait. They also don't have bottomless. read more

My wife and I ate on Saturday night and had a fantastic meal. We started with the focciccia ( sp) and the artichokes. The bread was accompanied by soft roasted garlic cloves which made a great spread on the bread when you crushed them to a paste. Then there were artichoke bottoms stuffed with chopped olives , sweet peppers and spices. Both were fantastic. For entrees we both had the scallops. They came out perfectly cooked surrounding a mound of Thai flavored sticky rice. And some diced veggies. For dessert we had the Eton mess which was alternating layers of a very light and creamy lemon curd and orange marmalade. I loved it but my wife didn't like it so I guess you really have to like a strong citrus taste to enjoy it. Overall the food was fantastic. The service was great.
