I went with a group for Sunday brunch. I have been to their brunch before for Mother's Day, but this was my first time experiencing their new brunch buffet. Our server was wonderful and offered me a free mimosa to celebrate my recent college graduation, which I enjoyed! The food was delicious, especially the pork quesadilla, buttermilk biscuits, and patatas bravas. Plus, I loved getting to walk through the kitchen. My only suggestion is that I would recommend they serve the food with warmers underneath because it was a little cold at times. But, I definitely want to go back for Sunday brunch again! read more

Came here for brunch: Ambience - in a cute location, looks very residential. Inside, they have rustic wooden tables, indoor and outdoor seating. Service is generally attentive. Food - ok. The brunch bread/pastry basket was delicious. They rotate a few of the options but highly recommend the monkey bread! The basket comes for the table when you order a brunch entree. Came here with a big group for dinner. Service was great and our wait staff were warm and timely. The cocktails were delicious. For appetizers we had brussel sprouts and buffalo cauliflower. The sprouts had a sharp citrus bite that offset the umami flavor from being roasted. The buffalo cauliflower had a good kick to them. I ordered the shrimp cake etouffee and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of shrimp in the cake. There was very little filler and it was super flavorful. I like this spot. From the chill surroundings, to the well stocked bar, to the service they have it down. I've been here on multiple occasions and always had a good time. Last visit was on a Saturday and it was hopping. A bit too loud for my taste but that's to be expected as it's just one big room. They update their food and drink menu frequently so check the website if you are picky. I've tried "The boy who lived" and "Wingardium Leviosa" for my drinks and both were delicious. This is definitely a place to order either one of the mixed drink creations or a bourbon. Their bourbon list is quite extensive. For the app I tried the octopus which was paired with lentils. Delicious. I'm not a huge fan of lentils but the preparation here was different. Not mushy at all, almost al dente. For my entree I ordered scallops. While the scallops were delicious, I wasn't crazy about the accompaniments. It was almost a salad, only not even enough greens. I don't think this dish was a good value. I'd heard great things about their Sunday brunch and decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. The pastry basket with the mini cheesecakes, mini lemon muffins and a chocolate croissant was a tasty start. I had the Big Ol Crispy Chicken Biscuit with apple butter and a mixed greens side salad. The chicken was well-seasoned and the breading was very tasty with a little Nashville-hot. The only thing that I didn't like was that the piece of chicken was so large which made it difficult to eat but there was plenty to bring home. Brought my parents here while they were in town for a New Years Day brunch buffet. They had a really nice spread and assortment of brunch items to choose from. They had several vegetarian and seafood items as my mom does not eat meat. She had plenty to choose from this buffet with food restrictions. Every item was very tasty and as mentioned a variety of dishes to choose from with anyone with food restrictions. We ended up very full as buffets have the tendency to want to try each item. This will be a brief update. Today was my 2nd time here for brunch. I am smarter this time, made a reservation via OpenTable. Even though I really do not mind sitting at the bar, but a standard table is very much preferred. Melody our server took very good care of us. Our water was refilled constantly. Plates were cleared promptly. Melody would check on us frequently. She was just great! Food was as delicious as the first time I came. Today my favorite would be the Gulf Shrimps in grits and bacon. My family and I have been going to Local Three since 2012 and they consistently provide phenomenal food with excellent service. My family dined at L3 for my mom's birthday and had the pleasure of being served by PJ. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. L3 has retooled their cocktail menu to include funny quarantine references such as the quarantine elixir or the home schooled. I got the social distancer which had a nice, dry, bite to it. I had the crab spaghettini which was amazing and such a great combination! My dad and I split the mushroom tacos as well which were very flavorful. For dessert we ordered L3's take on a Reese's cup. Joined a group of friends for a surprise birthday dinner. They booked the private dining room which also doubles as wine storage. I thought it was just decor wine bottlers until someone actually came in to grab a bottle of wine. We had a group of 12, so inevitably it will take a bit of time to get through everyone's orders. We started with drinks, meat and cheese boards, and the rabbit Buffalo dip. I was not disappointed with any of the flavors of the drinks or the dip. The drinks had some fun names which I just liked saying . For the entree, I had the pork chop and my husband got "the mcdowell". They were both seasoned very well and flavorful. My husband did order the burger well done and it came out more medium, than well, so we switched orders. I did have major food envy when my friends lamb came out because it looked delicious. I went to Local Three a week ago for a special event honoring my spouse. My first piece of advice: if you make a reservation and have never been to the location before, save some wiggle room for trying to figure out where the restaurant is. I say that because you must first conquer the correct parking garage, take the elevator to the correct floor then walk through the lobby and around the corner to find the entrance. Not rocket science but ultimately caused us to be a few minutes late. Local Three has a great selection of wines and bourbons/whiskey which was a primary reason for us choosing the restaurant. My husband ordered a flight of whiskeys and enjoyed it and I was excited that pretty much all of the wines were something I hadn't had before. We ordered Brussel sprouts and the Notorious PIG version of the charcuterie board. Very tasty but it didn't seem that the mustard or Cornishons that were supposed to go with the meats made it to our table. After struggling between the braised short rib and the shrimp I ordered the short rib. It was very tender yet my recommendation would be to serve it with some sort of sauce or reduction. The broccolini served with it were literally steamed with no seasoning so I didn't have a lot of other flavor profiles to enhance the short rib. I am glad I didn't order the shrimp carbonara after seeing another member of my table receive it because the portion size was quite underwhelming. It still tasted good though after stealing a bite! My husband ordered the Angus butchers steak and seemed to really enjoy it. I liked the bite that I had. Also we got a trio of deserts and they were AMAZING!! I've frequented L3 many times over the past 7 years for dinners and weekend brunches. It's good for business meals, date nights as well as catching up with friends. The entrance to L3 is like a dark tunnel (but not cool like Eleanor's) Inside is a box.with a high ceiling that echoes a bit due to all the hard surfaces, At dinner, it's dimly lit and definitely has masculine feel to it. At brunch, it's brighter with buffet served in the adjacent kitchen. There is an outside patio as well but I've never sat there. ++. Food here is what seriously sets them a part! It's innovative, fun and tasty comfort fare. Their menus change often enough and have interesting seasonal meats like elk, venison and rabbit along with the usual proteins. L3 is also one of less than a handful of places I do a buffet. You can still order menu items at brunch but their coffee is lackluster. My faves have been their charcuterie board, Elk and Brussel sprouts. Their bar is well stocked and the wine choices are solid too. Tastefully casual farm to table restaurant. Parking is in the garage where a door goes into the office building. Local Three will validate your parking ticket. You can also enter through the front lobby of the building. For Sunday brunch we parked in the building's lot, as there were plenty of spaces. Since the pandemic Local Three does not have a brunch buffet, but the menu items rotate, and new items are added. We had a reservation. After 10:30 a.m. the restaurant started to fill up. Entrees are $24.93 each, and there are plenty of a la carte sides to choose from. First tho, a basket of pastries is put on the table. They were fabulous. We ordered Bloody Marys which could be spicy. They were tall and refreshing. For entrees we chose the Breakfast Abides--two eggs, bacon, biscuit, potatoes, salad greens; Vegetable Hash--cauliflower, broccoli, sweet and red potatoes with turkey sausage links and two eggs; The Big Poppa (+$20)--10 oz. Hanger steak with cheesy eggs and grape juice. All were delicious. I do believe the chef could accommodate a vegan or GF diet. The service was good. The employees were friendly. We were relaxed, and enjoyed everything. This restaurant is kid friendly as we saw high chairs. This spot is what I call a hidden gym. It's actually located in an office building and has garage parking. Your ticket is validated by the restaurant, so it's free. The garage is 6'8. So if you have a big truck, you will have to find parking out front, which is very limited. It's a nice size restaurant with a fully stocked bar. We had a party of 6 and the table could accommodate everyone comfortably. Our waiter was great. He made sure to explain everything on the menu. Our food and beverages arrived fairly quickly. He told us about the restaurant, the 3 local chefs and gave us great info on the menu. He recommended the pork chop and it was the best we'd ever had! After looking at the delicious brunch pictures for the past few years, I finally got the chance to eat at the buffet after fellow Yelper Heng T. put a Sunday brunch reservation together. For $24.93, I better be getting a good brunch with all the perks! While alcohol was not included (actually, it was pretty expensive). I did appreciate that coffee was included. The brunch menu is pretty extensive. From savory to sweet, there's something for everyone. I enjoyed the soup of the day, the corn chowder, which was different from any thick corn chowder I've ever had. I also enjoyed the sweet breakfast items, like the mini mint chocolate chip pancakes. Be sure to ask for the syrup (apparently, this stuff is expensive, according to our server, so use sparingly). Some items on the menu were just ok, nothing too special or memorable. Overall, I wasn't super impressed. However, Local Three does have a lot of potential for a good brunch menu, so I wonder if I just came on an off week. We had a large group here about 14 of us, if you have a large group they have to put you in a separate room. The only drawback is this room has no windows! Upon visiting the dining room, I really missed the windows to give it that right type of atmosphere that would add to our visit there. My bride worked with Holly and her team to put together a surprise birthday party for me on November 2nd. What a terrific job! The entire staff got into the spirit of concealing what was going to happen. First, they took the two of us through the kitchen where the Chef and every kitchen worker acknowledged us with a smile. They had the Chef's Table set up as a two-top so that's what I thought was happening. And then Niki pulled back the curtain and there were all the guests; almost everyone I love was in that room including our daughter and our grandsons flown in from California! This is my second review update for Local Three. The restaurant hasn't changed much since my first visit in 2011 and subsequent visits over the years. It's still very good for local, farm-to-table, New American fare in Atlanta. This update covers a few new dishes I've tried. Check out my previous reviews to read more about the restaurant itself, its hidden location, parking situation (still the same), and other great dishes. New items (new to me) I've tried include: Snacks: * Togarashi Spiced Shishito Peppers - orange aioli Appetizers: * Maplebrook Burrata - cherry, arugula, extra virgin olive oil, grilled bread Today: * Line Caught Wild Striped Bass - patty pan squash, field peas, heirloom tomato broth Mains: * Grilled Angus Tagliata - confit fingerlings, local arugula, tomato, vincotto, Parmesan I've had the Togarashi Spiced Shishito Peppers twice and the results were inconsistent. The first batch I had was almost inedible because the peppers were simply overseasoned and too salty. Togarashi is the same thing as shichimi (which is what I call it). It's a Japanese red pepper seasoning with other ingredients like sesame seeds and seaweed. I love seasoning my ramen with shichimi. The second batch I had was much better, but I still think they could have held back a bit on the seasonings and aioli. The peppers themselves are delicious. They are green, sweet, and spicy. The Maplebrook Burrata was excellent. Most of the burrata I've had in this city has been terrific and Local Three's version was no exception. Fresh, smooth, and creamy. The long, crisp leaves of arugula and the crunchy, oiled, and grilled bread make this app a delectable one that's great for sharing. The Line Caught Wild Striped Bass was a daily special when I had it. Like many things on Local Three's seasonal/rotating menu, it may not be available during your visit. I thought this was a fantastic light fish and vegetables dish. It consisted of a skin-on striped bass filet atop a sort of stew made with patty pan squash (a small summer squash), peas, and heirloom tomatoes. This dish was best enjoyed when eating all ingredients together with a spoon, much like eating a soup. The Grilled Angus Tagliata was delicious. Tagliata is an Italian word and refers to sliced steak. The tagliata here came sliced into 10 bite-sized pieces that were cooked to what I think was a medium rare (warm pink center). Very good quality. I especially enjoyed the accompanying salad which contained fresh and crisp arugula, whole fingerling potatoes, and chunks of Parmesan cheese. Vincotto is a dark, sweet wine sauce. Cheese and charcuterie boards and truffle Parmesan popcorn still deliver. Update on pricing (roughly): Snacks and apps are mostly in the $8-18 range, cheese and charcuterie samplers are just under $20 each, and entrees are mostly in the $25-30 range unless you're getting The McDowell (burger) which'll run you about 15 bucks.
