I put a little soup on it to make it better. It worked. The salmon has a crispy skin and moist texture overall. The collard greens were good but not seasoned like mine. From the moment I walked in, I felt respected and comfortable as I worked my way over the menu. I wanted a little sampler of everything seafood... so I ordered the Petite Seafood Tower and a side of Rockefeller Oysters. And I was pleasantly pleased with the fresh taste of that accompanied each dish. The clams, oysters, and mussels hit the spot in every way ! Being just a block away, Loch Bar fit the bill but it turned out to be so much more than a place to get some food. The restaurant is lovely inside with a chic feel. The high ceilings make the space feel very roomy and grand. The hostess was great as was our server Matt. It was easy to tell that management takes customer experience very seriously here. Matt made some great recommendations as we perused the drink and food menus. My rye old fashioned with the custom distilled house rye was great. We started with some shrimp cocktail which we enjoyed. I wasn't too hungry so I had a couple of starters....the crab tots and the fried shrimp and calamari. I loved the calamari and shrimp combo but the crab tots were out of this world. They had gouda cheese in them and the crab topping was very generous. I could have just eaten those all night! My husband had salmon with some purplish rice (I forget what it was) but I was halfway done with my food and looked over and his plate was empty. He loved it. For dessert, we shared a caramel apple cheesecake which was great. It was also amazing for breakfast two days later when I finished it because we couldn't eat the whole thing at dinner! I also had a key lime pie parfait. I love anything key lime pie and this I ate entirely by myself in one sitting. Overall, just a terrific experience here. Decided to come here on a day trip with my friend since we were off that day. Our main stop was reading terminal market! However after browsing all morning we got hungry and decided to keep our original lunch plans. So glad we did this place is 10/10 for me the vibes atmosphere the bartender was very witty and funny! Happy hour at this place is poppin! I'm talking shoulder to shoulder, but only at the bar. Honestly, I prefer to go afterwards because the service is better. The food is pretty consistent, my absolute fav is the fried lobster! Loch bar is one of the few places in the city that has them. My boyfriend had the idea of coming came back here on Valentine's Day and, just like last time, everything was great! Even though we didn't have a reservation, out timing happened to be right as we lucked out on seats at the bar, which is kind of more our thing anyways - we are typically grab seats at the bar when it's just us two. Went back and forth on what to wanted - entrees each with a shared app versus sharing a few apps - but landed on having a few plates to share with another. A few things caught our eye so we went with the Crab & Artichoke Dip, Black Diamond Mussels which came with fries and the Crispy Calamari and Shrimp which we had last time we were here. I was in there like at least 30 times for happy hour. I came here for the fried fish which was decent for portion to price ratio. I hated going there on game days where they had rowdy sports loving customers so I eventually stopped going and the food isn't worth getting it to go. It's a decent sports bar; with great mild flavored food; nothing too spicy or culinarily complex. Ambiance is fine only if there is no sports playing that day; bar gets packed after 3:30; especially on Fridays. I never fell in love with any drinks on the menu. read more

Unfortunately had to wait approximately 5 minutes for Valet to come to the stand from inside the restaurant. Cost for valet $32. Once we were inside, sat quickly and coat check was offered. The interior is beautiful and spacious and was probably my favorite part of the experience. The food was honestly reallt mediocre considering the high prices. My friend ordered the crab cake and was disappointed. My lobster roll seemed really dry and flavorless but the baby green salad and crab tots were decent at least. We were given dirty glasses and had to ask for new ones. Someone then came and took all our silverware and didn't give us new silverware when our entrees came out. Most of the oysters on their list were not available that day either. I probably would not return as there are plenty of better options around the city. read more

Our server Kira was attentive and very kind. Very helpful in descriptions and provided us with a great experience. On a Thursday late at night, it was moderately busy. I got a pineapple crush and my companion got a whisky sour (with a delicious cherry soaked in whisky) --both were crisp and refreshing. We ordered the crab & artichoke dip. The dip is seasoned well and tastes great. The celery is an interesting choice as an accompaniment with the dip, but the carrots work well. The Maine lobster was quite small for the price. The included fries (upgraded to truffle for $3) were excellent. Crunchy, crispy, soft at times, as well as seasoned to perfection. The lobster roll was good and had a lot of lobster given the size. For oysters, we got a variety of raw. They were all superb! I only wish that we were told which oyster was which, because there were 6 different ones. The standout dish was the gouda tater tots. Came here for happy hour last night and I can't wait to return. The happy hour menu is great, and I'd also like to come back for dinner--especially when I have plans at the Kimmel since it's such a convenient spot. There are a good number of seats for HH, but they fill up fast, so I'd recommend arriving right when happy hour starts. Our waiter was kind, though not very attentive, and it was tough to get his attention at times (it was pretty busy, so understandable). Wine was great. For food, we shared oysters on the half shell, fried oysters, roasted oysters, and the yellowfin tuna poke. The raw and fried oysters were outstanding--those are definitely what I'll reorder. The roasted oysters were flavorful, but at that point you lose the distinct oyster taste. The poke was fresh but a bit underwhelming; I wish it came with something like chips to pair with it. Wanted a nice dinner for my husband birthday and found the Loch Bar. It was literally on the next corner from our hotel and it did NOT disappoint. The ambiance was on point, nice dim lit spot, they had live music the speaker was a little rough but once that was fixed it was perfect and the gentleman sang really good. The staff were amazing and our waitress was wonderful and offered great suggestions. I actually can't wait to come back to this spot. The service was really good with multiple people helping us out to get what we needed. It wasn't too crowded and the service speed was standard. A nice place with lots of bar seating. The duck was phenomenal. It was cooked to perfection and I was surprised because seafood is their specialty. I'd come back just to have this duck again. The service isn't all that pleasant during the day because the few times I've been I've had to run the waiters down just to come back & check on me, order more food/drinks, & for the check... Mind you, this was on 3 separate occasions. But, the food is so good I over look it & go back... The fried oysters are delicious and crispy. My favorite out of the entire meal would have to be the crab cake. It's a big portion size with the choice of a salad or fries to accompany it. The crab soup comes out hot, full of flavor and cheesy. Ordered Smoked Salmon Benny, Crab Cake Benny, and Lemon ricotta pancakes, and a side of pork sausage. It wasn't just a not great burger it was one of the worse burgers I've had to eat, and I don't know how you make a burger that dry not intentionally. I have been looking to come here for awhile. I took my daughter for her birthday. The ambiance is very nice and I love the decor. The waitress was very nice and gave great recommendations. This was my 1st lunch here and I was surprised to see that they offer the same menu for lunch and dinner. However, they did offer a prix fixe lunch special where you can choose your appetizer and main course for a set price. Was in the city for an appointment and decided to have lunch at the Loch Bar. I've been wanting to visit here for quite some time and with being in the city I opted to cease the opportunity. The restaurant is located on Broad street, so on street parking in a nightmare. However, there are several parking garages in the area. We parked across the street in the Kimmel Center garage for a whooping $25 lol. We were greeted upon entry and seated immediately. It wasn't crowded at all but you can tell this place is a lunch spot fave for all who work downtown. The restaurant itself is very nice looking and kept clean. Bathrooms were clean as well but I hate when places dont have toilet seat covers available in the stalls. Anywho, I ordered the Roasted Oysters as my starter and for my entree we got the lunch special which included a caesar salad and fried chicken sandwich. Typically, the special is about $25 during lunch hour but since its still Restaurant Week, it was $20. No, the oysters werent apart of the lunch special but any place with a baked/roasted oyster on the menu will get ordered lol. I also ordered a Lemon Drop as well. Everything was delicious. The oysters were very good, salad one of the best ive had at any dine in restaurant, and the chicken sandwich was juicy. The bartender made the lemon drop perfectly as well. Service was standard. Everyone was nice but nothing stood out. I plan to return for dinner, as the menu had a few other things i'd love to try. First time spending time in Loch Bar Philly and had a great time. It's a huge space with a number of seating options as well as individual seats across from the bar. Came for the drink this time will be coming back soon to try some dishes. They have an extensive libations menu and a ton of variety in their whiskeys. Even though at the time it wasn't packed, our server took a really long time to check on us while we ate our meal. I tried the lemon sour cocktail, which was okay. For the appetizer, I went with the cream of crab soup--it was tasty. For my entree, I ordered the pan-seared salmon with butternut squash puree and crispy quinoa, which was different. The overall taste of the meal was good. They ran out of the dessert option we wanted, but the server brought us two alternative desserts, which was nice. Decided to head into the city's center to chat and chew with two old friends. One suggested the Loch Bar. She said, prior to the Philly location opening she would take an hour and a half drive to the one in Maryland. I was definitely excited to try it out. The Loch Bar is on S. Broad St. directly across from the Kimmel Center. Prime location with valet parking. The exterior dining area is nicely arranged and the interior space is opulent and what I was expecting. I was greeted by a very nice gentleman who held the door as I entered. Very classy. Our reservation was for 6pm. The hostess promptly sat us in what appeared to me to be a makeshift dining space. Dave was our server and he greeted us on the spot. He was very personable and welcoming. We ordered water and cocktails. My friend who suggested the restaurant said, he has been her waiter every time she's dined there. So far, everything is going well. Theeennnn... Dave forgot our waters. We asked again when he came back to take the appetizer order, and had to ask 1 more time. Okay, not a big deal. My friend says, they usually have live music on Friday. Lol I said, where do they set up? Yup! You guessed it lol. In the section where we were seated with the makeshift set-up. In the middle... (no exaggeration, fork with calimari on the end in air headed toward mouth) ...of us njoying appetizers... The manager comes over, apologizes for the interruption and said they were going to upgrade us to booth because the band would be setting up in that area. He did advise he was comping the appetizers and cocktails we had to that point which was a wonderful gesture. So fork goes back on the plate, we relocate to a booth, the staff bring over our dishes. Next question, where's Dave? The food was good not great, Possibly the disturbance and lack of attentive service from our server curbed my taste a few degrees. We started with Calimari and Rock Shrimp, Artichoke and Crab Dip, and Roasted Oysters. For dinner, two ladies had the Seafood Bake and I had the Miso Roasted Chilean Seabass and a side house salad w/vinaigrette. The band had played a few songs while we were dining and the tempo was slow. Relaxing to the point of putting you to sleep. While I feel this was an exception to the business as usual (BAU) routine for this establishment and location due to the stellar personal reviews I received, my experience was lukewarm.
